By the hymnography of the penitential season, the first tone is sung:
Thy grave, O Warrior watchful, O dead ones by the overshadowing of the greater Angel were kept, proclaiming to the women the Resurrection. We glorify Thee, O needed one, we fall down before Thee, risen from the grave, and unto Thee alone our God.

To the Crucifixion Thou wast fastened by a generous will, laid in the grave having been found dead, O life-giver; Thou didst rend asunder with Thy mighty death-struggle: for the gates of hell trembled at Thee, Thou didst raise up from the age of the departed, O only Lover of mankind.

O Theotokos,

The Mother of Thee, O Lord, with Thy Most Pure Ones in very truth, and as Thou didst appear to the Apostles in glory, so also hast Thou appeared to us, O Good One, for those who flee to Thy goodness: for Thou art our Intercessor, O most sinful ones; Thou hast stayed me in perils, O pure One.

According to the sticheron, the tone is 1, the glas is α̃.

As it is written: "Like a stone sealed."

Widows came to the grave, and with fear they saw an angelic manifestation: the grave was life, a wonder to behold: for this sake, having gone forth as preachers of resurrection: hell freed those in bonds, for it is strong and mighty, and having weakened all, it cast down fear, breaking it with its sword.

On the Cross Thou hast pierced the life of all, and in the dead Thou hast made the Immortal manifest; on the third day Thou didst rise for our salvation, raising Adam from corruption. For this we cry to Thee with power, O Giver of Life, Theotokos: Glory to Thy resurrection, glory to Thy descent, O Only Lover of Mankind.

Theotokos. It is fitting: Thy grave hath saved us.

O Lord, read, O Reader, to the holy listeners, raise up now those fallen into the deep pit of fierce ancestral sin, and by transgressions and sorrows; for thou art the repentance of the guilty and help, and strong intercession, and save thy servants.

Repentance in hell with weeping, O myrrh-bearers, proclaim joy,
for having risen, Thou, O Christ, hast given the world great mercy.

When I am in sorrow, hear my sickness, O Lord; to Thee do I call.

The desert-dweller hath an unceasing holy desire, bringing peace to the sensible apart from the senseless.

To Thee, O Spirit, glory and praise be meet,
even as to Thee, O Christ, glory befits,
for Thou art the Comforter, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Antiphon v.:

Upon thy mountains, O Lord, hast Thou uplifted me, enlightening Thee with good works, that I may praise Thee.

By Thy right hand Thou hast received the Word; preserve me, keep me, that sin's fire may not fall upon me.

By Thee, O Spirit, every creature is renewed, again flowing unto the first: for Thou art equal in power and in word with the Father.

O Lord, having said to me, "Enter into the courts of My people," my spirit rejoiceth, and my heart gladdeneth with gladness.

In the house of the double doors great fear: there in the throne placed, all nations and tongues are judged.

Hallowed be the Spirit, the honor, the worship, the glory and the power,
even as it is meet and right to bring: for there is none other essence,
but faces alone.
