By the hymnography of the penitential season, the first tone is sung:
Self-baptized:
Thy grave, O Warrior watchful, O dead one from the rising of the mighty Angel was kept, proclaiming to the women the Resurrection. We glorify Thee, O Thou who art sought after in need; we fall down before Thee, O Risen from the grave, and with Thee alone unto our God.

Thou, O Saviour, we praise; to Thee do we come, O Risen from the tomb, and with Thee alone unto our God.

At Thy Crucifixion, O Merciful, Thou wast fastened by a willing will, laid in the tomb having been found dead, Thou, the Giver of Life, didst overcome death with Thy mighty death: for the gates of hell trembled at Thee, Thou didst raise up from the age of the dead, as the only Lover of Mankind.

The Theotokos:

Mother of Thee, our God, truly and in the Mystery of Thy Incarnation, and by the power of Thy great compassion, whereunto they that love Thee flee for Thy mercy: Thou hast been my advocate before Thee, O most merciful, in times of tribulation, and Thou hast sustained me with unspotted purity.

By the sticheron, let us sing with a solemn tone, glas 1.

Vouchsafed: As are the sealed stones:

Widows came to the tomb, and an angelic vision appeared with trembling: the tomb was life, a wonder to behold: for having gone forth with the preaching of resurrection: hell freed Christ, for it is strong and mighty, and having weakened all, cast down fear by its might.

Crucified wast Thou, O Life of all life, and didst enshrine Thyself in the dead, O Immortal Lord; on the third day Thou didst rise for our salvation, raising Adam from corruption. For this we cry to Thee with might, O Giver of Life, Theotokos: Glory to Thee by rising, glory to Thee by descending, only Lover of mankind.

Theotokos. It is fitting: Thy grave hath saved us.

O Lord, read, O Reader, the prayer of thy suppliants, and raise up those fallen into the deep pit of fierce ancestral wrath, and excessive grief. For thou art the salvation of sinners and help, and strong intercession; and save thy servants.

Alas, the voice of weeping!

Thief's repentance in paradise, weep thou, myrrh-bearer, proclaim joy, for having risen Thou, O Christ, hast given the world great mercy.
Stephen:
Antiphon a Greenwood

When sorrow afflicteth me, hear my sickness, O Lord; to Thee do I cry.

The deserts have an unceasing divine-worshipping desire, bringing peace to the sensible except for the senseless.

To Thee, O Spirit, glory and praise befitting Thy

Glory and honour to Thee, as is meet for Thee, and to the Father and the Son, for this sake let us sing to the Only Ruler.

Antiphon v.:

On thy hills, O Lord, thou hast raised me up, enlightening thee with good works, that I may praise thee.

With Thy right hand Thou hast received the Word; preserve me, keep me, that sin's fire may not fall upon me.

By Thee, O Spirit, every creature is renewed, flowing again to the first: for Thou art equal in power and word with the Father.

Antiphon: Gladsome Light, O Lord, the Light of the knowledge of Thy holy Name, hast Thou manifested to Thy people Israel in the flesh.

Having said to me, "Enter into the courts of the Lord," my spirit rejoiced, and my heart was glad.

In the house of the double doors great fear: there, in the judgment seat placed, all nations and tongues are judged.

Hallowed be Thy glory, honor, and praise, and power, even as it behooves Thee, and ever is meet to offer: for there is none other essence, but faces alone.
