Blessed be Thou, O Lord, let not my praise cease:
For the mouth of the sinner and the mouth of the deceitful have spoken against me with a tongue of lies.
And they surrounded me with words of hatred, fighting against me for no reason.
For my love they have accused me; but I have given myself to prayer.
And they have set against me evils for goods, and hatred for my love.
Set thee a wicked man over him, and let Satan stand at his right hand.
When he is judged, let him go forth condemned; and let his prayer be for sin.
Let his days be few, and may another have his charge.
Let his children be orphans, and his wife a widow.
‹. Let his children wander straying, begging for their bread from the waste places.
Let the usurer examine all that he has; and let strangers rob his toil.
Let there be no intercessor for him, nor any to show favour to his fatherless children.
Let his offspring be blotted out, and let their name be erased in a single generation.
Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord, and let not the sin of his mother be forgiven.
Let them be ever before the Lord, and may their memory be blotted out from the earth.
Because He forgot to show mercy and persecuted the poor and needy man, that He might even destroy the brokenhearted.
As he loved cursing, let it come to him; and as he delighted not in blessing, let it be far from him.
As he was clad in a curse as in a garment, so may it enter his inward parts like water, and like oil into his bones.
Let it be to him as a garment that covers him, and as a girdle with which he is girt perpetually.
Let this be the portion of those who malign me at the Lord's hands and of those speaking evil against my spirit.
But do thou, O Lord my God, show me favor for thy name’s sake, for thy mercy is good; save me.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is sore within me.
I have become like a shadow at twilight, tossed about like locusts.
My knees have failed from fasting, and my flesh has wasted away with oil.
I became a byword to them; when they saw me, they shook their heads.
Help me, O Lord my God; save me according to thy mercy.
That they may know that this is thy hand, and thou, Lord, hast done it.
Let them curse, but bless thou; let those who rise up against me be put to shame; but let thy servant rejoice.
Let those who assail me clothe themselves with disgrace, and let them wrap themselves in the mantle of their own confusion.
I will greatly praise the Lord in my mouth and among many, I will extol him.
For he stood at the right hand of the poor, to save me from those who persecuted my soul.
Glory:
