Merciful Lord, have mercy on us: for all of us are unwise in sin, and this our prayer we offer before Thee as sinners; have mercy on us.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O Lord, have mercy on us, for in thee we trust: let not thine anger be kindled against us, nor count our sins as grievous; but look upon us now with a father's tenderness, and deliver us from our enemies: thou art God our King, and we thy people, all our works being by thy hand, and to thee we cry.

And now and for ever. Amen.

Mercy openeth the doors of salvation to us, O Blessed Theotokos: trusting in thee let us not perish, but be delivered by thee from calamities: for thou art the Saviour of the race of Christians.

Lord, have mercy. [v.]

Mercy, O Holy Father, great and venerable,
to God and His Mother:

O Lord, eternal and King of all creation, having vouchsafed me even in this hour to come to Thee, forgive me my sins which I have committed today, by deed, word, and thought: and cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul from every stain of body and spirit, and grant me, O Lord, a peaceful sleep this night: that arising from my humbled bed, I may find rest in Thy holy name throughout all the days of my life, and overcome those who war against me, both fleshly and spiritual: and deliver me, O Lord, from vain thoughts which defile me, and from evil desires.

For Thine is the kingdom, and power, and glory, Father, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Antiochian, to the Lord our Jesus Christ:
Who is on high with the Father and the Holy Spirit, King,
Hallowed be His name.

All-Controlling One, Word of God, most perfect Son, Jesus Christ, many times have I wrestled with thee, O Lord my God, but thou dost ever rest in me. Jesus Christ, good Shepherd of thy flocks, deliver me not into the hands of false accusers, and let me not be left to the desire of Satan, for indeed sevenfold is his deceit within him. Thou art invoked by the Lord, holy Theotokos, sleeping preserved by an unquenchable light in thy holy home, where thou didst rest as Thy Teacher. Give also unto me, O unworthy servant of Thine, peace upon my bed: enlighten my soul with the light of Thy wisdom, love my spirit with Thy loving embrace, hear my heart with Thy words, make my body by Thy passion without passion: keep my thoughts in Thy humility, and raise me up at the time like unto Thy glorious praise for ever. Amen.

Mercy God, to Thy throne:

O Lord, heavenly King, Comforter, O Spirit of Truth, Thou hast humbled Thyself, and hast pitied me, the sinful servant of Thine, and hast forgiven me my unworthiness, and hast pardoned all my transgressions, wherewith I have sinned today, both as a man, more than as a man, even as a beast: both voluntary sins and involuntary, known and unknown, from my youth, and from my ignorance, and whatsoever are of pride and vain glory. Yea, even in prayer to Thee, I have sinned through my deceitfulness; for I have blasphemed Thee, even in my thoughts; yea, I have reviled Thee, and I have grieved Thee, and I have been angry with Thee, and I have been provoked by Thee, and I have been merry with Thee: yea, I have stood before Thee in prayer, and Thou hast moved me to sin through my deceitfulness of this world. Yea, even evil thoughts have I thought, and I have confessed, and I have lied, and I have laboured in vain; yea, I have received a beggar, and despised him: yea, I have grieved my brother, yea, I have grieved my bride, yea, I have judged some one: yea, I have been divided, yea, I have been puffed up, yea, I have been provoked. Yea, those standing before me in prayer have moved me to sin through my deceitfulness of this world; yea, even evil thoughts have I thought, and I have confessed, and I have lied, and I have laughed without cause: yea, even evil thoughts have I thought, and I have seen good deeds as strange, and by them I was deceived in heart: yea, even unseemly words have I spoken, and I have mocked my brother's sin, for mine own part, are countless the sins which I have committed. Yea, even in prayer to Thee, I have sinned through my deceitfulness; and I know not what else I have done evil: yet all these and greater than these have I done. Forgive me, O Creator of my soul, Thou Who art unworthy before Thee: and leave me not, and forgive me, for Thou art good and Lover of mankind: that I may lie down in peace, rest and sleep, the sinner, the sinful and erring one: and I will prostrate myself, and praise, and glorify Thy most holy Name, with the Father and the Only-begotten Son, now and ever, and to ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O God, of great and glorious memory:

O Thou, who hast brought forth the life eternal, and dost reward with great gifts the immortal King, most bountiful and loving of mankind; for having been idle in Thy longing, and having wrought naught good, Thou hast led me to the end of this day's journey, turning and saving my soul. Be merciful to me, O sinful and naked one, in all thy works: raise up my fallen soul, which hath been defiled by countless sins, and let all my evil thoughts be made manifest in this life. Forgive my transgressions, only Thou who art without sin; for I have sinned today both knowingly and unknowingly, by word, deed, thought, and every one of my senses. Thyself dost shield me from every opposing resistance with Thine ineffable love and power. Cleanse, O Lord, the multitude of my sins. Mayest Thou will to deliver me from the nets of the crafty one, and save my sinful soul, and enlighten me with the light of Thy face: when Thou comest in glory. And let not this sleep now find me unawares; and may no thought of mine be unguarded: and may the servant of Thine be kept blameless, and all the works of Satan utterly removed from me. Enlighten our understanding hearts, that we may not fall into death. And send us an angel of peace, guardian and instructor of my soul and body, that he may keep me from my enemies; and when I arise with Thee, let me bring Thee thanksgiving prayers. O Lord, hear Thy sinful and holy servant, by will and conscience: give me to learn by Thy words, and let the evil spirits be driven far from me by Thy angels: and I shall bless Thee, and praise, and glorify Thy most holy Mother, who hath given us a defense against our sins; receive this praying one for us: for we know that Thine love doth not cease to pray. By this defense, and the precious seal of the sign, and all thy saints' prayers, keep Thou my holy soul in Thy keeping forever. For Thou art, and art glorified unto ages of ages. Amen.
