And now, O Soul, a troparion, tone 3:

Grant, O Lord, to Thy servant (my) heart of compunction,
That I may fear Thee always and not walk in delusion.
For Thou art the Life, and I am but a stranger in this world;
Thou art the Power, and I am but a spectacle of vanity.
Thou art the Creator, and I am but a creature made of clay;
Thou art the Righteousness, and I am but a sinner in need of mercy.

Grant me to see Thee on high,
And to rest my arm in Thy right hand.
For Thou art the Glory, and I am but dust and ashes.

Blessed Pastor, Thou hast laid Thy Soul upon us, O most hidden and wrought by Thee alone, nearest and dearest, have mercy on me whose mind hath wandered astray, and deliver me from the wolf, the lamb of God, and forgive me.

O deep sleep of spiritual lethargy, darkened by the delusion of sinful pleasure: but grant me morning of repentance, enlightening my thoughts, O Holy Theotokos, enlightenment of my soul, and save me.

By the mist of sins and by the sweetness of worldly pleasures we entwine our own souls, giving birth to various passions, and compunction does not come to their thoughts. But still, O Saviour, my humility, and grant me thoughts of compunction, that I may be saved before the end with a good heart: O Lord, save me, the long-suffering and unworthy one.

As I fell among robbers, and was wounded, so also I fell into many sins, and my soul is grieved. To whom shall I flee the guilty one? Only to Thee, O Merciful One: have mercy on me, great in mercy.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O wayward son, I have come and am yet merciful: receive me, O Mother, having returned, for I am but one of thy hired servants.

And now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Deliver us, O Theotokos, from those who uphold sins against us: for if even the faithful ones do not have hope, how much more shall we, born of thee.

O Lord, have mercy. [and] And bowings and prostrations with humility:

Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner, and forgive me for I am a stranger to Thy holy stead.

Mercy of the holy basil of great stature:

Again I have fallen, O my Lord and my Saviour, into the habit of sinning through deceit and custom, working iniquity. Again I am a prince of darkness and a father of passionate delights, having enslaved me by his will and desire to work as a slave. And what do I do, O my Master and my Helper, and my Intercessor for those who call upon Thee? Yet I fear and tremble lest, like always, I confess again, and fail to receive the promises Thou hast promised, and sin at every hour: and not give Thee, O my Lord, Thy due of prayer, but raise up against me the patience of Thine anger. And who can endure Thy wrath, O my God? For indeed Thou knowest the multitude of Thy mercies, and the abundance of Thy loving-kindness towards man; again I turn to Thee in prayer, crying out to Thee: "For all that I have sinned, forgive me." Have mercy on me, fallen one, give me a hand of help, plunged into the depths of sweet delights. Do not abandon, O my creation, lest I perish through my own unrighteousness and sins; but by Thy customary mercies and goodness, be my deliverance from uncleanness and evil thoughts, defiling always my heart, which is now weeping. For indeed, O my God, there is no place of purity in it, but all manner of sins, and the whole body covered with sores. Thou, O Lover of mankind, Physician of soul and body, Source of tears, cleanse Thy tears flowing upon me sweetly: pour out on me Thy loving-kindness, give me healing and cleansing, heal my brokenness, and do not turn away Thy face from me, lest I be consumed by the fire of wrath. But as Thou hast spoken, O true God, for indeed joy comes to those who confess one sinner, and Thou didst work this also upon me, and didst not shut up Thy good womb in prayer, but hast opened it, and as with a reed hast healed me before Thee: for the weakness of nature is to the Creator, and the desires of youth, and the heaviness of body, and Thou despisest sin, and receivest confession from those who call upon Thee in truth. Again bless and praise Thy glorious and magnificent Name, O my Father, now and always, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

O very full of grace, eternal, uncorrupted, without sin, Lord, cleanse me, Thy unworthy servant, from all bodily and spiritual uncleanness, and from negligence and inattention that have come to me today, together with all my other sins. May I be found blameless before Thee for the goodness of Thy Christ, and remain steadfast in Thy presence: that I may arise from the darkness of unclean visions of the devil, and all uncleanness, and be made clean in conscience, to confess my own uncleanness and impurity, and to praise Thee, O Father, and Thee, O Son, and Thee, Holy Spirit, now and ever, and for ever. Amen.

Give me rest and peace, O guardian angel sent to watch over me, covering and keeping me from all evil: for Thou art the guardian of our souls and bodies, and unto Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, in my prayer receive me. Lord, do not forsake me. Lord, lead me not into temptation. Lord, give me a good thought. Lord, give me tears and the remembrance of mortality, and compunction. Lord, give me understanding and confession of my sins. Lord, give me humility, integrity, and obedience. Lord, give me patience, great-heartedness, and meekness. Lord, implant in me the root of goodness, thy fear in my heart. Lord, enable me to love thee from all my soul and thoughts, and to do whatsoever thy will is. Lord, cover me from men some, and from demons, and from passions, and from every unseemly thing. Lord, as thou hast wrought, even as thou hast willed, let thy will be done in me the sinful: for blessed art thou for ever. Amen.

O Lady Theotokos, Master, intercede with thy all-powerful prayers for me, Thy servant, that I may be delivered from pride, from self-delusion, from foolishness, from sloth, and from every foul thought, evil and profane, from the self-delusion of my heart, and from the darkness of my mind. And quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and humbled: and deliver me from many and fierce memories, and from plots, and from all heard evils. For thou art blessed above all peoples, and thy name is praised gloriously for ever and ever. Amen.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto, being in very truth thou whom we venerate.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

Blessed art Thou, Lord.

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, pray for us sinners, in Thy prayers and the prayers of all Thy saints.

O Lord, from the defilement of sin, cleanse Thou my soul and body, that I may serve Thee pure and holy. For Thou art ever merciful, O Good One, and lovest them that turn unto Thee with all their heart.

Grant me compunction of heart, that I may not be led astray by the delusions of this world; but may my soul seek Thee with all its might, for Thou art the Life Everlasting. For Thou art the True Light, O Lord, and hast enlightened every man that cometh into the world.

O Lord, have mercy upon me, a sinner. Amen.

O Lord our God, the only-begotten and lover of mankind, the only holy and resting in holiness, who wast seen by St. Peter with a glorious vision, let nothing unclean or impure be thought of from things created for food and enjoyment of man, and as thy vessel chosen, by St. Paul, thou didst command with pure commandments: Thou Thyself art Most High, calling to Thee by the fearful and pre-eminent name of Thine, and by the sign and life-giving seal of Thy precious Cross, bless and cleanse Thy servant [thy servant] who hath defiled himself from all unclean spirits, from every imagination and thought, from every sin and deceit, from every consent and folly, and from every sickness, and from every sorrow, and from every contrariety to the sweetness of God. And now, O unworthy Thy servant, vouchsafe to serve Thy most holy mysteries by Thine mercy. Before cleansing my soul and body from all uncleanness, forgive me all transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all days of my life, by deed, word, and thought, day and night, until now. And grant me here, O Most powerful Lord, to serve these most fearful heavenly mysteries not for judgment or condemnation, but for the remission of sins, and for the coming age, and for the living hope thereof, which Thou didst prepare as a true servant of Thine. Preserve me, O all-powerful Master, from all sin and sorrow, keep me unspotted and blameless from all contrary diseases of the devil: and grant me here, to serve Thee in holiness and righteousness until the last day and hour, for Thou art blessed and glorified of us, O God our Lord, with Thy Father without beginning, and with Thy holy and life-giving house, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Of sin, and by reason thereof cometh delusion in sleep:

If thou judgest sincerely and sayest, "Brother, thou art in great sin," both of lofty heart and pride is also a sin. By much eating and drinking it is fitting: as the natural man without movement and without thought doth pour out, even so doth excess pour out: by weakness of bodily nature and certain sicknesses: because envy of the devilish kind: therefore they are guiltless, but both are called foul-smelling.
