And a troparion, tone 3:

O Soul of Christ, O Life, our God,
Thou hast always been a stranger in this world's domain.
Sudden was the delusion that led Thee to the spectacle of suffering;
But Thy compunction moved Thee to cry out:
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

For Thou art the Image of the Father's Glory,
And by Thine own will hast taken upon Thee our weakness.
Thou didst bear the cross and the nails, O Lover of Mankind;
Thou didst suffer death that we might have life eternal.

Therefore, with compunction of heart, we cry to Thee:
"O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance."

Blessed Pastor, Thou hast laid Thy Soul upon us, O most hidden and precious, mingled by me, alone nigh, mercifully forgive me the reason of my wandering, and deliver me from the wolf, the sheep of Thy Christ, and have mercy on me.

O deep sleep of spiritual lethargy, darkened by the delusion of sinful pleasure: but grant me morning of repentance, enlightening my thoughts, O Theotokos, enlightenment of my soul, and save me.

By the mist of sins and by the sweetness of worldly pleasures we entwine our own souls, giving birth to various passions, and compunction does not come to them. But still, O Saviour, my humility, and grant me a thought of compunction, that I may be saved before the end by thy blessed womb: O Lord, save me, the longed-for and unworthy one.

As I fell among robbers, and was wounded, even so hath I fallen into many sins, and my soul is wounded. Unto whom shall the guilty man flee? Only unto Thee, O Merciful One, Physician of souls: heal me, O great Mercy.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O wayward son, I have come and am yet merciful: receive me, O Mother, returning, for I am but one of thy hired servants.

And now and for ever. Amen.

Deliver us, O Theotokos, from those who uphold sins against us: for we have no one else to whom we can turn, except Thee, and from Thee were born the Lord.

O Lord, have mercy. [and] And bowings and prostrations with humility:

Lord, merciful Thou art toward me, and dost forgive me the straying for Thy holy stead.

Mercy of the holy basil of great stature:

Again I have been tempted by the weeping and deceitful custom, working in me sin. Again I am a prince of darkness and father of passions, having enslaved me, and as with a humble servant, according to his will and desire, he compels me to work in fleshly labor. And what do I do, O my Lord, and my Saviour, and my protector for those who call upon thee? Yet I fear and tremble lest, like always confessing, I fall silent on the promises made, and sin at every hour: and not giving thee, O my God, my prayer as promised by me, thy long-suffering is raised up against me in wrath. And who can endure thine anger, O Lord? For thou knowest the multitude of thy mercies, and the flood of thy human love, again I turn to thy prayer, crying out to thee: "Whereas I have sinned, forgive." Have mercy on me, fallen one, give me a hand of help, in the depths of sweet delights. Do not abandon, O my creation, lest I be consumed by my own sins and my own iniquities: but by thy customary mercy and goodness, compel me to avoid uncleanness and evil thoughts, which always defile my heart, weeping for it. For indeed, as thou hast seen, there is no place of purity within her, but all are offenses, and the whole body is covered with wounds. Thou, O lover of mankind, physician of soul and body, fountain of prayer, cleanse thy tears flowing upon me in abundance: pour out on me thy human love, and give me healing and cleansing, and heal my fainting, and do not turn away thy face from me, lest I be consumed by the fire of wrath: but as thou hast said, true God, as joy comes to those who repent with one sin, so also upon me, and open not thy blessed womb to me in prayer, but answer them, and like a reed make right before thee. For weakness is the nature of creation, and the desire of youth, and the heaviness of the body, and thou despisest sin, and receivest repentance from those who call upon thee with truth. Again blessed be thy name, O my Father, now and always, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Multiform, uncorrupted, unsullied, sinless Lord, cleanse me, Thy unworthy servant, from all bodily and spiritual uncleanness, and from negligence and inattention that have come to me today, together with all my other lawlessnesses. May I be found unsullied by Thee for the sake of Thy goodness, and may I abide in Thy presence: that I may arise from the darkness of unclean visions of the devil, and from all uncleanness, be able to confess a pure conscience against my own uncleanness and impurity, and to praise Thy entirety, O Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord our God, who have sinned today in word, deed, and thought, forgive us as Thou art merciful and lover of mankind. Give me a peaceful sleep and an untroubled heart, through Thy angel, my guardian, who covers and keeps me from all evil: for Thou art the guardian of souls and bodies of ours, and to Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O venerable John the Golden-mouthed:

Lord, do not deprive me of Thy heavenly blessings. Lord, deliver me from eternal torments. Lord, by thought and word and deed I have sinned, forgive me. Lord, deliver me from all unknown, forgotten, foolish, and hardened in senselessness. Lord, deliver me from every temptation. Lord, enlighten my heart which is darkened by the deceitful desire. Lord, as a man I have sinned, but Thou, O God, being merciful, forgive me, seeing the weakness of my soul. Lord, send Thy mercy to help me, that I may glorify Thee with my lips. Lord, O holy Theotokos, write me, Thy servant, in the book of life, and grant me a good end. Lord, my God, though I have done nothing good before Thee, yet by Thy grace let me begin to do well. Lord, pour Thy grace upon my heart. Lord, all earth and heaven, remember me, O sinful servant, learner, and unclean, in Thy holy presence. Amen.

Lord, in my prayer receive me. Lord, do not forsake me. Lord, lead me not into temptation. Lord, give me a mind for good. Lord, give me tears and the memory of mortality, and compunction. Lord, give me thought and confession of my sins. Lord, give me humility, integrity, and obedience. Lord, give me patience, great-heartedness, and meekness. Lord, implant in me the root of goodness, thy fear in my heart. Lord, enable me to love thee from all my soul and thoughts, and to do whatsoever thy will is. Lord, cover me from men some, and demons, and passions, and every unseemly thing. Lord, as thou hast wrought, even as thou willest, let thy will be done in me the sinful: for blessed art thou for ever. Amen.

O Lady, Theotokos, with Thy powerful and all-powerful prayers, join Thou me to the humility and repentance of Thy servant, this sinner, forgetting, senselessness, unwillingness, and all foul thoughts from my heart, and from the darkness within me. And quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and have repented: and deliver me from many and bitter memories, and from schemes, and from all heard deeds. For Thou art blessed by all peoples, and Thy name is glorified most truly to the ages of ages. Amen.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unsullied words of God's birth, O Theotokos, thou who dost deserve our great reverence.

O Lord, from the defilement of sin, cleanse Thou my soul and body, that I may see Thee in Thy glory, for Thou art holy. Amen.

Through the intercessions of Thy Most Holy Mother and of all the Saints, have mercy on us. Amen.

O Lord our God, most merciful and lover of mankind, most holy and resting in holiness, who wast seen by the apostle Peter with a glorious vision, let nothing unclean or impure be thought of from things created for food and enjoyment of man, and as thy chosen vessel, apostle Paul, didst command with pure command: Thou Thyself art Most High, calling by fearful and pre-eminent name, and by the sign and life-giving seal of Thy Name, bless and cleanse Thy servant [and me] defiled from every unclean spirit, from every dream and vision of deceit, from every sin and all guile, from every consent and all vanity, and from every sickness, and all sighs, and from every opposition to the sweetness of God. And now, unworthy as I am, Thy servant [and me], grant me to serve Thy most holy mysteries. Before cleanse my soul and body from every uncleanness, and forgive all sin, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all days of my life, by deed, word, and thought, day and night, until now. And give me here, O Most mighty Lord, to serve these fearful heavenly orders, and partake of Thy most holy mysteries not for judgment or condemnation, but for the forgiveness of sins, and for the coming of Thy eternal age, whereof Thou didst prepare as a true servant of Thine. Keep me, O All-powerful Lord, from every sin and sorrow, keep me undefiled and unblemished from every contrary disease of the devil: and give me here, to serve Thee in holiness and righteousness until the last day and hour, for Thou art blessed and glorified of all, O our God, and unto Thee we send glory with Thy Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Of sin, and by reason thereof cometh seduction in sleep:

If thou judgest sincerely thy brother, who is guilty indeed very much: from lofty and proud heart, this also is sin. From many days and feasting, this also is fitting: as also the excess thereof: from bodily weakness, and some sicknesses: from devilish envy: wherefore they are guiltless therefore, but both are called foul-smelling.
