And a troparion, tone 3:
O Soul of God, O Life, our God,
Thou didst deign to dwell in the Virgin's pure womb.
Thou didst empty Thyself for us sinners;
By Thee may we be saved, O Lord. Amen.
Blessed Pastor, Thou hast laid Thy Soul upon us, O most hidden and known to Thee, mingled within me, only near, forgive me the mind that hath wandered astray, and deliver me from the wolf, the sheep of Thy fold, and have mercy on me.
O deep sleep of spiritual lethargy, darkened by the deceit of sin: but grant me morning of repentance, enlightening my thoughts, O Theotokos, enlightenment of my soul, and save me.
By the mist of sins and by the sweetness of worldly pleasures we entwine our own souls, giving birth to various passions, and in thought compunction doth not come. But still, O Saviour, grant me compunction of heart, that I may have thoughts of compunction, and thus be saved before the end by thy blessed womb: O Lord, save my soul, who hast promised to save the afflicted and unworthy.
Falling into robbers, O wounded one, even as I fell into many sins, and my soul is wounded. To whom shall the guilty one flee? Only to Thee, O Merciful One: have mercy on me, O great in mercy.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
O wayward son, I have come and am still merciful: receive me, O Mother, having returned, for I am but one of thy hired servants.
And now and for ever. Amen.
Deliver us, O Theotokos, from those who uphold sins against us: for if even the faithful ones do not have hope, how much more shall we, born of thee.
O Lord, have mercy. [and] And bowings and prostrations with humility:
Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner, and forgive me for my lawlessness, for I am but dust and ashes.
Mercy of the holy basil of great stature:
Again I have fallen into the net of weeping and the deceitful custom, working in sin. Again I am the prince of darkness and the father of passions, having enslaved me. And as a humble servant, by his will and desire, he compels me to work against my will. What do I do, O my Lord and my Saviour, and my intercessor for those who call upon Thee? Yet I fear and tremble lest, like always, I confess again, and fail to receive the promises Thou hast promised, and sin at every hour: and not giving Thee, O my God, Thy due thanks, Thine long-suffering raises up against wrath. And who can endure Thy wrath, O Lord? For Thou knowest the abundance of Thy mercies, and the deep love of Thee for man, again I turn to Thee in prayer, saying: "For all that I have sinned, forgive me." Have mercy on me, fallen one, give me a hand of help, plunged into the sweetness of sins. Do not abandon, O my creation, lest I be consumed by my own unrighteousness and sins; but by Thy customary mercy and goodness, compel me to avoid uncleanness and evil thoughts, which defile always my heart, weeping in. For indeed, as Thou hast seen, there is no place of purity within it, but all are offenses, and the whole body is covered with wounds. Thou, O Lover of mankind, physician of soul and body, and source of tears, cleanse Thy tears flowing upon me sweetly: pour out on me Thy love, and give me healing and cleansing, and heal my brokenness, and do not turn away Thy face from me, lest I be consumed by the fire of wrath. But as Thou hast spoken, true God, as joy comes to those who confess one sinner, so Thou didst do for me also, and didst not shut up Thy good womb in prayer, but hast turned them, and as a penitent hast corrected Thee with truth. For blessed be Thou, O Lord, praised be Thy glorious name now and forever. Amen.
O ever-faithful, unwearying, uncorrupt, sinless Lord, cleanse me, Thy unworthy servant, from all bodily and spiritual uncleanness, and from negligence and inattention that have come to me today, together with all my other lawlessnesses. Keep me uncorrupted, for Thy mercy's sake, and remember me in Thine intercession:
That I may arise from the darkness of unclean visions, and be made worthy by a pure conscience to confess my uncleanness and corruption, and to praise Thee, O Father, and Thee, O Son, and Thee, Holy Spirit, now and ever, and for ever. Amen.
O Lord our God, who have sinned today in word, deed, and thought, forgive us because Thou art a God of love and mercy. Give me rest and peace, O guardian angel sent to watch over me, covering and keeping me from all evil: for Thou art the Guardian of our souls and bodies, and unto Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, do not deprive me of Thy heavenly blessings. Lord, deliver me from eternal torments. Lord, by thought and word and deed I have sinned, forgive me. Lord, deliver me from all unknown, forgotten, foolish, and hardened sins. Lord, deliver me from every temptation. Lord, enlighten my heart which is darkened by the deceitful desire. Lord, as a man I have sinned, but Thou, O God, being merciful, forgive me, seeing the weakness of my soul. Lord, send Thy mercy to help me, that I may glorify Thee with my lips. Lord, O holy Theotokos, write me, Thy servant, in the book of life, and grant me a good end. Lord, my God, though I have done nothing good before Thee, yet by Thy grace let me begin to do well. Lord, pour Thy grace upon my heart. Lord, all earth and heaven, remember me, O sinful servant, learner, and unclean, in Thy holy presence. Amen.
Lord, in my prayer receive me. Lord, do not forsake me. Lord, lead me not into temptation. Lord, give me a good thought. Lord, give me tears and the memory of mortality and compunction. Lord, give me understanding and confession of my sins. Lord, give me humility, patience, and obedience. Lord, give me endurance, great-heartedness, and gentleness. Lord, implant in me the root of goodness, thy fear in my heart. Lord, enable me to love thee from all my soul and thoughts, and to do whatsoever thy will is. Lord, cover me from men some, and from demons, and from passions, and from every unseemly thing. Lord, as thou hast wrought, even as thou hast willed, let it be done in me the sinner: for blessed art thou for ever. Amen.
O Lady, Theotokos, with thy all-powerful and prayerful intercessions, cleanse me, Thy servant, from my humility, forgetfulness, unreasonableness, indolence, and all foul thoughts, from the pollution of my heart, and from the darkness within me. And quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and have been cleansed: and deliver me from many and bitter memories, and from all evil designs, and from all heard deeds.
For blessed art Thou of all creatures, and Thy holy name is praised to the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]
Blessed art Thou, Lord.
O Lord Jesus Christ, God, pray for me, a sinner, through Thine holy prayer, and all Thy saints, save me.
O Lord, from the defilement of sin, save us; for Thou art holy.
Through Thy righteousness, purify our souls and bodies, that we may worthily serve Thee in purity and holiness. Amen.
O Lord our God, Most merciful and lover of mankind, most holy and abiding in thy high throne, who wast seen by the apostle Peter with a glorious vision, let nothing unclean or impure be thought of from things created for food and enjoyment by thee, and as vessels chosen by thee, apostle Paul, who commanded all things to be cleansed: thou thyself art holy, calling us by the fearful and pre-eminent name of thine own self, and by the sign and life-giving seal of thy precious cross, bless and cleanse thy servant [my] soul and body from every uncleanness, and forgive me all transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all my days, by deed, word, and thought, day and night, until now. And grant me to serve these fearful mysteries of thine with unworthiness, not for judgment or condemnation, but for the remission of sins, and for the coming age, and life eternal, which thou hast prepared for thy true servant.
Before cleanse my soul and body from every uncleanness, and leave all sin, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all my days by deed, word, and thought, day and night, until now. And give me to serve these fearful mysteries of thine with unworthiness, not for judgment or condemnation, but for the remission of sins, and for the coming age, and life eternal, which thou hast prepared for thy true servant.
O Lord our God, Most merciful and lover of mankind, preserve me from every sin and sorrow, keep me blameless and unspotted from all diseases against the devil: and give me to serve thee in holiness and righteousness until my last day and hour. For thou art blessed and glorified, O God, Theotokos, Spirit, King, heavenly and life-giving, of thy Father without beginning, holy and good, and life-giving house, now and ever, and for evermore. Amen.
For sin, and for which reason there happens spiritual temptation in sleep:
If thou judgest sincerely thy brother, who is sinning grievously: from lofty and proud heart, this also is sinful. From much eating and drinking, it is fitting; but from natural lack of movement and thought, it flows forth, as also superfluity doth: from bodily weakness, and certain sicknesses: from devilish envy: wherefore they are without sin, but both are called foul-smelling.
