And now, O Soul, a troparion, tone 3:

Grant, O Lord, to us Thy handmaids, that with pure hearts we may see Thee, as Thou didst appear unto the three holy children in the fiery furnace; and may we be delivered from all tribulation, for Thou art our Light and our Salvation. Amen.

Blessed Pastor, Thou hast laid Thy Soul upon us, O most hidden and precious, mingled in me, alone nearest, have mercy on me, whose mind hath wandered astray, and deliver me from the wolf, the sheep of Thy fold, and forgive me.

O deep sleep of spiritual deception, darkening by sin: but grant me morning of repentance, enlightening my thoughts, O Theotokos, enlightenment of my soul, and save me.

By the mist of sins and by worldly delights we entwine our own souls, giving birth to various passions, and in thought compunction doth not come. But still, O Saviour, my humility, and grant me thoughts of compunction, that I may be saved before the end by thy blessed womb: O Lord, who art merciful, save me, the afflicted and unworthy.

Falling into robbers, O wounded one, even as I fell into many sins, and my soul is wounded. To whom shall the guilty one flee? Only to Thee, O Physician of souls: heal me, O great Mercy.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O wayward son, I have come and am yet merciful: receive me, O Mother, having returned, for I am but one of thy hired servants.

And now and for evermore. Amen.

Deliver us, O Theotokos, from those who uphold sins against us: for if even the faithful sometimes do not have recourse to thee, and are born of thee, O Lady.

O Lord, have mercy. [Thou.] And of bowings and prostrations, with humility:

Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner, and forgive me for my lawlessness, for thy holy steadiness.

Mercy of God great and glorious:

Again I have been taken captive by weeping and by the deceitful custom, working in sin. Again I am a prince of darkness and father of passions, having been made a prisoner, and as with a humble servant, according to his will and desire, he compels me to work against my will. And what do I do, O my Lord and Saviour, and my protector for those who call upon thee? Yet I fear and tremble lest, like always confessing, I fall short of the promises thou hast made, and sin at every hour: and not giving thee, O my God, the prayer that is due to thee, thy long-suffering raises itself against wrath. And who can endure thy wrath, O Lord? For thou knowest the multitude of thy mercies, and the power of thy lovingkindness, again I turn to thy prayer, crying out to thee: "For all my sins, forgive me." Have mercy on me, fallen one, give me a hand of help, in the depths of sweet delights. Do not abandon, O my creation, lest I be corrupted by my own unrighteousness and sins; but by thy customary mercy and goodness, compel me to avoid uncleanness and sinful thoughts, defiling always my heart that is weeping. For indeed, O Lord, as thou hast seen, there is no place of purity in it, but all manner of sins, and the whole body covered with sores. Thou, O Lover of mankind, physician of soul and body, fountain of prayer, cleanse thy tears flowing upon me sweetly: pour out on me thy lovingkindness, give me healing and cleansing, heal my brokenness, and do not turn away thy face from me, lest I be consumed by the fire of repentance; but as thou hast spoken, true God, for indeed joy comes to those who are one with the single sinner in penitence, so thou didst work it out on me, and didst not shut up thy good womb before my prayer, but hast answered and purified them before thee: for weakness of nature is a creator's work, and the desire of youth, and the weight of the body, and thou despisest sin, and receivest repentance from those who call upon thee in truth. Again blessed art thou, O Lord, and praised be thy glorious name, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Multiform, uncorrupted, unsullied, sinless Lord, cleanse me, Thy unworthy servant, from all bodily and spiritual uncleanness, and from negligence and inattention that have come to me today, together with all my other lawlessnesses. Make me not sullied by Thee, for Thy goodness sake, and remember me in Thine unceasing presence:

That I may arise from the darkness of impure visions, and be made worthy through a clean conscience to confess my uncleanness and sinfulness, and to praise Thy all-holy name, O Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord our God, who have sinned today in word, deed, and thought, forgive us because Thou art a God of love and mercy. Give me rest and peace, O guardian angel sent to watch over me, covering and keeping me from all evil: for Thou art the Guardian of our souls and bodies, and unto Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

Lord, do not deprive me of Thy heavenly blessings. Lord, deliver me from eternal torments. Lord, by thought and word and deed I have sinned, forgive me. Lord, deliver me from all unknown, forgotten, foolish, and hardened sins. Lord, deliver me from every temptation. Lord, enlighten my heart which is darkened by the deceitful lusts. Lord, as a man I have sinned, but Thou, O God, being merciful, forgive me, seeing the weakness of my soul. Lord, send Thy mercy to help me, that I may glorify Thee with my lips. Lord, O holy Theotokos, write me, Thy servant, in the book of life, and grant me a good end. Lord, my God, though I have done nothing good before Thee, yet by Thy grace give me the beginning of goodness. Lord, pour Thy grace upon my heart. Lord, all earth and heaven, remember me, O sinful servant, learner, and unclean, in Thy holy presence. Amen.

Lord, in my prayer receive me. Lord, do not forsake me. Lord, lead me not into temptation. Lord, give me a good thought. Lord, give me tears and remembrance of mortality and compunction. Lord, give me understanding and confession of my sins. Lord, give me humility, patience, and obedience. Lord, give me endurance, great-heartedness, and gentleness. Lord, implant in me the root of goodness, thy fear in my heart. Lord, enable me to love thee from all my soul and thoughts, and to do whatsoever thy will is. Lord, cover me from men some, and from demons, and from passions, and from every unseemly thing. Lord, as thou hast wrought, so let it be done, even in me the sinful: for blessed art thou for ever. Amen.

O Lady, Theotokos, with thy powerful and all-powerful prayers, join thou me to the humility and repentance of Thy servant, this sinner, forgetting, senselessness, unwillingness, and every foul thought, wicked and shameful, from his heart, and from the darkness within him. And quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and have repented: and deliver me from many and bitter memories, and from all evil designs, and free me from all heard deeds.

Blessed art thou of all peoples, and glorified be thy holy name to the ages of ages. Amen.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto, being in very truth thy great honor.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Father, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

Blessed art Thou, Lord.

O Lord Jesus Christ, God, pray for me the sinner, for Thy Name's sake and for all Thy saints. Save me.

O Lord, from the profanation, pray:

Grant us repentance and cleansing of conscience,
That we may not be found wanting before Thee.
For Thou art ever merciful and gracious;
Thou who dost cleanse the defiled with Thine own hands.

Let not our prayers be in vain, O Lord,
But grant that through Thy mercy we may find forgiveness.
For Thou knowest the secrets of all hearts,
And to Thee we commit our souls and bodies.

O Lord, have mercy on us!
Thou who art full of compassion and lovingkindness;
Thy mercy is great beyond measure.

Grant us, O Lord, the grace of Thy Holy Spirit
That we may walk in Thy commandments and keep them.
For Thou hast said: "If your hand causes you to sin,
Cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life maimed,
Than having two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire."

O Lord, have mercy on us!
Thou who art our King and our God;
Thy kingdom is everlasting and Thy power is from age to age.

Grant us, O Lord, the gift of Thy Holy Spirit
That we may be strengthened in faith and love,
And walk in the light of Thy truth.
For Thou art the Light of the world, and the true Light which enlighteneth every man that cometh into this world.

O Lord our God, the only-begotten and lover of mankind, the only holy and resting in holiness, who by thy apostle Peter wast seen with a glorious vision, let nothing unclean or impure be thought of those things created for food and for man's enjoyment, and as vessels chosen by thee, Apostle Paul, having commanded all things to be cleansed: Thou Thyself art Most High, calling by the fearful and pre-eminent name of Thee, and by the sign and life-giving seal of Thy precious cross, bless and cleanse Thy servant [and me], defiled from every unclean spirit, from every dream and vision of deceit, from every sin and all guile, from every yielding to it and from every vanity, and from every sickness, and from every sighing, and from every thing contrary to the sweetness of God. And now, O unworthy servant [and me], vouchsafe to serve Thy most holy mysteries by Thy mercy. Before cleansing my soul and body from all uncleanness, forgive every sin, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all days of my life, by deed, word, and thought, day and night, until now. And give me here, O dread service of the heavenly powers, and partake of Thy most holy mysteries not for judgment or condemnation, but for the remission of sins, and for the coming age, and for the joy that Thou hast prepared for Thy true servant. Preserve me, O all-powerful Lord, from every sin and sorrow, keep me unspotted and without blemish from every disease against the devil: and give me here, to serve Thee in humility and truth until the last day and hour, for Thou art blessed and glorified of us, O God our Lord, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

For sin, and for which sake spiritual delusion arises in sleep:

To judge sincerely and one’s brother, who is in great sin: this also is sinful from lofty pride. From much eating and drinking, it is fitting. From nature without movement and without thought, it flows forth, as also excess does. From bodily weakness and some sicknesses: whereas these are without sin, yet both are called foul-smelling.
