O troparion, tone 3:

Grant, O Lord, to Thy servant the gift of compunction,
That he may not suddenly fall into spiritual delusion.
For Thou art a Stranger in this world and a foreigner in Thy own land;
Thou art a Spectacle for the angels and a Power over all creation.

O Lord, grant that we may not be deceived by deceit,
But may ever seek Thee with our whole heart.
For Thou art our Creator and our Righteousness,
Our Glory and our Life eternal.

Blessed Pastor, Thou hast laid Thy Soul upon us, O most hidden and precious, mingled within me, alone nearest, have mercy on me, who am wandering in my understanding, and deliver me from the wolf, the lamb of God, and forgive me.

O deep sleep of spiritual deception, darkening with sinful delusion: but grant me the morning of repentance, enlightening my heart, O Theotokos, enlightenment of my soul, and save me.

By the mist of sins and by the sweetness of worldly pleasures we entwine our own souls, giving birth to various passions, and compunction does not come to their thoughts. But hear me, O Saviour, my humility, and grant me thoughts of compunction, that I may be saved before the end by thy blessed womb: O Lord, save me, the long-suffering and unworthy one.

Falling into robbers, O wounded one, even as I myself fell into many sins, and my soul is wounded. To whom shall the guilty one flee? Only to Thee, O Physician of souls: heal me, O great Mercy.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O wayward son, I have come and am still merciful: receive me, O Soul, returning, for I am but a stranger from thy hirelings. And have mercy on me.

And now and for ever. Amen.

Deliver us, O Theotokos, from those who hold us in sin: for we have no one else to hope in, save Thee, and from Thee have sprung the Lord.

Lord, have mercy. [Thou.] And of bowings and prostrations, with humility:

Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner, and forgive me for my wandering after Thee, Thy holy abode.

Mercy of God great and glorious:

Again I have been taken captive by weeping and by the deceitful habit of sinning, working iniquity. Again I am a prince of darkness and a father of passionate delights; thou hast made me a prisoner, and as with a slave, according to thy will and my fleshly desire, thou dost compel me to work. And what do I do, O my Lord and Saviour, and my helper for those who call upon thee? Yet I fear and tremble lest, like always, I confess again, and fail to receive the promises made to me, and sin at every hour: and not giving thee, O my God, my prayer as I ought, thy long-suffering riseth up against indignation. And who can endure thine anger, O Lord? For thou knowest, O my Lord, the multitude of thy mercies, and the power of thy lovingkindness; again I turn to thy prayer, crying out to thee: "For all that I have sinned, forgive me." Have mercy on me, fallen one, give me a hand of help, in the depths of sweet delights. Do not abandon, O my creation, lest I be corrupted by my own unrighteousness and sins; but by thy habitual mercy and goodness, compel me to be delivered from uncleanness and filthiness of body and soul, which defile always my heart that is weped. For indeed, O my Lord, as thou hast seen, there is no place in it of purity, but all manner of sinnings, and the whole body is covered with wounds. Thou, O Lover of mankind, physician of souls and bodies, fountain of prayer, cleanse thy tears flowing upon me usefully: pour out on me thy lovingkindness, and give me healing and cleansing, and heal my brokenness, and do not turn away thy face from me, lest I be consumed by the fire of contempt; but as thou hast said, true God, as joy cometh to those who repent of one sin, so also upon me, sinful though I am, thou didst open not with a shut hand of goodness, in my prayer of confession, but turned them and made them into a reed for thyself: for the weakness of nature is to thee, and the desire of youth, and the heaviness of body, and thou despisest sin, and receivest repentance from those who call upon thee with truth. Again blessed art thou, O Lord, and praised be thy glorious and magnificent name, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

O most truthful, uncorrupted, blameless Lord, cleanse me, Thy unworthy servant, from all bodily and spiritual uncleanness, and from negligence and forgetfulness that have come upon me today, together with all my other lawlessnesses. May I be found blameless before Thee for the goodness of Jesus Christ, and may I abide in Thy presence: that I might arise from the darkness of unclean visions, and from all uncleanness, to possess a pure conscience, free from uncleanness and sin, and to sing praises to Thy most holy Name, O Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

O Lord our God, who have sinned today in word, deed, and thought, forgive us for Thy goodness and love of mankind. Grant me a tranquil sleep and an undisturbed heart, through Thy angel, who keepeth me, covering and keeping me from all evil: for Thou art the guardian of our souls and bodies, and to Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, do not deprive me of Thy heavenly blessings. Lord, deliver me from eternal torments. Lord, by thought and word, by deed, I have sinned; forgive me. Lord, deliver me from all unknown, forgotten, foolish, and hardened in senselessness. Lord, deliver me from every temptation. Lord, enlighten my heart which is darkened by the deceitful desire. Lord, as a man I have sinned, but Thou, O God, being merciful, forgive me, seeing the weakness of my soul. Lord, send Thy mercy to help me, that I may glorify Thee with my lips. Lord, O holy Theotokos, write me, Thy servant, in the book of life, and grant me a good end. Lord, my God, though I have done nothing good before Thee, yet by Thy grace, let me begin to do well. Lord, pour Thy grace upon my heart. Lord, all earth and heaven, remember me, O sinful servant, student, and unclean, in Thy holy presence. Amen.

Lord, in my prayer receive me. Lord, do not forsake me. Lord, lead me not into temptation. Lord, give me a good thought. Lord, give me tears and the memory of mortality, and compunction. Lord, give me understanding and confession of my sins. Lord, give me humility, integrity, and obedience. Lord, give me patience, magnanimity, and gentleness. Lord, implant in me the root of goodness, thy fear in my heart. Lord, enable me to love thee from all my soul and thoughts, and to do whatsoever thy will is. Lord, cover me from men some, and demons, and passions, and all manner of unseemly things. Lord, as thou hast wrought, even as thou willest, let it be done in me the sinner: for blessed art thou for ever. Amen.

O Lady, Theotokos, with thy powerful and all-powerful prayers, join thou me to the humility and repentance of Thy servant, this sinner, forgetting, senselessness, unwillingness, and every foul thought, both evil and shameful, from my heart and from the darkness within me. And quench the flame of my passions, for I am poor and have repented: and deliver me from many and fierce memories, and from all devisings, and from all heard deeds. For thou art blessed by all peoples, and thy name is glorified most truly to the ages of ages. Amen.

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God's glory, O Theotokos, that gave birth thereto, being ever present in thee.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

Blessed art Thou, Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ, our God, pray for us sinners, and for all the saints.

O Lord, from the profanation:

Grant us repentance and cleansing of conscience,
That we may not be found wanting in Thy sight.
For Thou art ever merciful and gracious,
And to those who turn to Thee with contrite hearts,
Thou dost show mercy.

Let not our prayers be vain or sudden,
But let them come forth from the depths of our hearts,
With compunction and true repentance.
For Thou knowest the secrets of all hearts,
And Thou seest the thoughts that lie hidden within us.

O Lord, have mercy upon us:
Thou art the King of glory, the Holy One,
Who hast shown mercy to those who fear Thee
And hast given strength to them who are in tribulation.
Grant us also Thy divine and heavenly grace,
That we may walk in Thy commandments with purity of heart.

For Thou art our Life and our Salvation,
Our Righteousness and Our Glory:
Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy.

Lord God, our only Good and Lover of mankind, our only True and Reposeful, who wast seen by the apostle Peter with a glorious vision in heaven, let nothing unclean or impure be thought of from things created for food and enjoyment of man, and as thy vessel chosen, by the apostle Paul, thou didst command with pure words: Thou Thyself art Most High, calling to Thee by the fearful and pre-eminent name of Thine, and by the sign and life-giving seal of Thy Holy Spirit, bless and cleanse Thy servant [and me], defiled from all unclean spirit, from every thought and dream, from every sin and deceit, from every consent and folly, and from every sickness, and every grief, and from every contrary to sweetness of God. And now, unworthy as I am, Thy servant [and me], let me be made worthy to serve Thy most holy mysteries. And first cleanse my soul and body from all uncleanness, and forgive all mine trespasses, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in all the days of my life, by deed, word, and thought, day and night, even unto this present hour. And grant me here, O service of these most fearful heavenly powers, and partake of Thy most holy mysteries not for judgment or condemnation, but for the remission of sins, and for the coming age, and the joy that Thou didst prepare for Thy true servant. Keep me, O All-powerful Lord, from all sin and sorrow, keep me undefiled and unspotted from all contrary to the Spirit of God: and grant me here, to serve Thee in holiness and righteousness until the last day and hour, for Thou art blessed and glorified of us, our Lord God, with Thy Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

For sin, and by reason thereof lustful imaginings arise in sleep.

Thou judgest sincerely and sayest, concerning thy brother who hath sinned grievously: From lofty pride and haughtiness, this also is sin. From much eating and drinking, it is fitting; but from the natural lack of movement and thought, it flows forth as if superfluous: From bodily weakness and certain sicknesses: Wherefore, though they be without sin, yet they are called a sore.
