In the lawless, I have come to my senses, O Lord; I dare not look upon thy heavenly heights, but daring myself in thine love for man, I cry: God, cleanse me, the sinful one, and save me.
If the sinner barely escapes, I myself appear as a guilty one; daily burdens and heat I have not borne, but with hired men for one-tenth of an hour I have endured thy toil, and saved thee.
Glory: The Spirit doth strive to convince me, O my wandering soul and longed-for life, looking not to earthly riches but to the abundant mercy of Thy treasures: now having covered me, do Thou not despise my heart, for unto Thee belongeth the Lord, by compunction calling: I have sinned against heaven and before Thee.
Now: The prayer of the Christians ceasing on high, which Thou didst bring forth more than words by Thy holy Virgin Mother, cease not to pray with Thy mighty powers, that Thou grant us forgiveness of sins and correction of life, faith and love for them that ever invoke Thee.
O Lord, have mercy, and grant peace:
O Master, All-Controlling, Unsearchable, Beginning of Light, and most wondrous Power, in Whom the Substance of the Word of the Father, and the One-Spirted Thee, didst descend: merciful for mercy's sake, and ineffable Goodness, not despising the human nature, by Thy darkness.
Thou dost contain sins, but by Thy holy teachings, Thy law and prophecies, Thou hast enlightened the world with a shining light. Follow us therefore, O merciful in Thy flesh, to raise up our bodies unto Thee, and to enlighten us by Thy illumination: that Thy Spirit may dwell within us.
Hearing the voice of the psalm and our prayer, grant us, O God, to spend all this present night in watchful and sober heart, waiting for Thy coming and that of our Lord, that we may not lie down or sleep, but be vigilant and arise in deed.
By Thy commandments we shall find them, and in joy we shall meet Thee, where the joyful sing unceasingly, and the beholders of Thy face see unspeakable sweetness. For Thou art good and lover of mankind, O God, to Thee we send glory, Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit.
Holy God, Holy Strength, Holy Immortal, Have Mercy on Us. Amen.
