Weeping in the stranger's land, by thy sun thou art clothed, and in the day by all the Master, the earth's light is dimmer, crying out: Blessed art thou, O Theotokos, Mother of our God.

Strange is the figure!
From the bondage of Pharaoh's work,
He is led by a will foreign to himself,

Thee they saved on the crown of thy head, O Thou Fount of Salvation, by the hands of lawless and impious triplets of unchastity; / breaking the brazen gates and the bars thereof, / for the sake of our salvation, singing: / Saviour, Blessed art Thou.

Wretched are thy teeth that pierced me with their own deceitful sharpness; / but Thou Thyself, O God, hast crushed the serpent, / and strength hast Thou given me to cry out: / Blessed art Thou, O Virgin Mother of Our God.

O sanctuary of nature, thou art alone the gracious God, / upon thy arm sitteth the throne of the Cherubim's Lord / for bearing their wings thou criest: / Blessed be Thou, O Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Katavasia: Not served the creature God's wisdom / more than its creator, / but by fiery reproof man was corrected, / rejoicing with singing: / Blessed be the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
