God, being crucified, by the flesh beholding Thy countenance spreading fear: / but with a powerful hand for our sake, Thou art held fast firmly.

Death by death hath been abolished lying in the Spirit: / for not enduring the breath of life, the spiritual wound is inflicted strongly, and to all it giveth resurrection.

Thou dost consume my corruptible flesh and mortal life, O All-holy God, / And from thy holy womb receivest an unspeakable reception of joy, / And having made this incorruptible, didst bind it to thee for ever.

Beholding Thee, O God, in the Incarnation by the sight of two, I was seized with fear at the countenance of the angelic host; and as a mother with voiceless hymns doth glorify Thee.

We were struck with fear when the holy vision of Daniel revealed to him a stone that was cut out without hands: and it crushed the demoniacal crowns, O God, of Thy Martyrs.

Not can the word of thy mortal flesh,
nor lower tongue of two exalt worthily:
for from thee without seed
the life-giving Jesus Christ was made incarnate, transcending, well-pleasing.

O Master, ever merciful Saviour,
Deliver us from all visible and invisible enemies,

Who through faith and love celebrate the glorious Resurrection of Thine own Self,
For which sake Thou hast vouchsafed to grant us
The enjoyment of eternal blessings.
