Not against Thee, O Lord, dost we grieve because Thou returnest to the earth: / For Thou hast lifted me from the earth, O my God, in forgetfulness, / for Thy good-will toward many, / by Thy resurrection unto the heights ineffable.

Eating the tree in the food, the deceived one was transformed into worm, the progenitor thereof, / obeying the Lord's holy precepts: / but by this mercy Thou didst again exalt him to the first goodness, / having listened to the Father, who had saved thee.

By Thy death, O Lord, death is vanquished, / and by Thy resurrection, the source of life hath flowed to us, / and immortality hath been granted: / for this we bow before Thy burial and Thy resurrection in faith, / whereby God did enlighten all the world.

Blessed be the City of God: Life on high and Creator of all,

Чистото́ю возсїѧ́вши свѣ́тлѡ / бж҃е́ственное пребыва́нїе влⷣки всепѣ́таѧ была̀ є҆сѝ. / ты́ бо є҆ди́на мт҃и бж҃їѧ ꙗ҆ви́ласѧ є҆сѝ, / во ѡ҆б̾ѧ́тїихъ ꙗ҆́кѡ младе́нца сего̀ носи́вши.
By purity thou hast enlightened thyself / O Ever-venerable Master, abiding in light by thyself wast thou. / For thou alone didst manifest thyself, / bearing this young Child in thine own embraces.

Да рыда́етъ собра́нїе ѕлочести́выхъ, / не проповѣ́дающихъ тѧ̀ ꙗ҆́вѣ чи́стꙋю бг҃ома́терь: / ты́ бо врата̀ бж҃їѧ свѣ́та ꙗ҆ви́ласѧ є҆сѝ на́мъ, / мра́къ прегрѣше́нїй разгонѧ́ющи.
Let the assembly of those full of glory weep, /
not proclaiming the pure doctrine of God's Mother: /
for thou didst open to us the gates of the light of the world, /
driving away the darkness more grievous than night.

Catechism: Having been glorified in all thy glory,
O God, by the most holy glory:
For thou, O unapproachable Light,
Hast dwelt within the womb of all ages,
And hast given birth to the eternal Sun,
Whoever doth praise thee, and giveth peace.
