Irimos:
Thou, O Lord, hast created man in Thine own image and after Thine own likeness;
and Thou didst place him in paradise, that he might partake of life eternal.
But when the serpent beguiled him with his guile,
man fell from his high estate and became a stranger to Thee.
Thou, O Lord, hast shown mercy to us sinners,
and though we are unworthy, Thou didst deign to visit us in our lowliness.
Thou didst descend into the abyss of death,
and by Thy power Thou didst raise up the fallen race of man.
Therefore, with compunction of heart and with tears of repentance,
we cry to Thee: O Lord, save us!
Thy conquering right hand, O Merciful God, hath been glorified in strength: for it is immortal, as all-powerful, having made the path of the enemy deep and new by its working.
By Thy pure hands, O God, Thou first created me; with Thy stretched-out hand, Thou didst cry to the earth for my corruptible body, which Thou didst receive from dust.
Death hath overcome me, and Thou hast delivered my soul to the power of death; but by the inspiration of Thy divine Spirit Thou didst lay it in the heart of mine, and having broken the bonds of eternal sleep, Thou didst raise it up with immortality and glorified Thee.
O Theotokos,
Rejoice O fount of grace. Rejoice O ladder, and door opened, Rejoice O candlestick, and hand of gold, and burden not borne, since Thou art the life-giving Jesus Christ who hath begotten life for the world.
And let it be according to the canonical, resurrection-giving precept.
Hymn: Theotokos doth give birth:
Jesus Christ glorifies me who was made flesh, Jesus Christ exalts me who is humble, Jesus Christ passionless unites with me, the suffering Life-giver by His very nature. Therefore I sing a thankful hymn: For Thou hast shown Thy glory.
Jesus Christ raiseth me up, who was crucified, Jesus Christ bringeth me to life, who was dead, Jesus Christ giveth me life, who was in death. Therefore with joyful hands I pour forth this victory song, praising my Saviour: For Thou hast glorified.
O Theotokos,
God the Father begat Thee, and the Theotokos brought Thee forth in the womb, and Thou wast incarnate, transcending nature, of one Substance with the Father, known in two Essences: that Thou mightest be glorified.
And let us bless the throne of the Theotokos.
Thou, O Theotokos, dost bring us a worthy song that cannot be sung; truly, an attractive one, by which Thou didst teach us the hidden mystery: Rejoice, thou twice-blessed Virgin, who art not espoused.
O Ever-virgin Theotokos, with hearts pure and faithful spirits we cry to thee: Rejoice, O Lady of heaven, and our Bride.
O boundless depth of Thy unsearchable joy, O All-creating One, with an undoubting faith we bring Thee our pure offering, saying: Rejoice in Thy double joy, O Virgin Bridegroom.
