Genesis reading. [Gen.7:1–5]
The speech of the Lord God to Noah: come into the ark, you and all your house, because you have seen yourself righteous before Me in this generation. From the clean cattle you shall bring to yourself seven, male and female; but from the unclean cattle, two and seven, male and female. And from the clean birds of the sky seven, male and female, and from all the unclean birds two, male and female, seed seed throughout all the earth. For yet another seven days I will bring rain upon the earth fourty days and fourty nights: and I will consume all the rising that I have made from the face of all the earth. And the Lord God gave him all the commandments.
Reading Genesis [7:1–5]
The Lord God said to Noah: “Enter you and all your house into the ark, for I have seen you righteous before Me in this generation. From the clean cattle, bring to you seven, male and female, and from unclean cattle, two males and two females. And of the clean birds of the air, seven each, male and female, and of the unclean birds of the air, two male and two female, to saturate the seed throughout the whole earth. For in seven days I will bring rain upon the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy every living thing that I have created from the face of the earth.” And Noah did everything that the Lord God commanded him.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 48), tone 2: My mouth will speak wisdom, and my heart will teach the mind.
Verse: Hear this, all you nations, inspire, all you who live throughout the world.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 48), tone 2: My lips speak wisdom, my heart cares for understanding.
Verse: Hear this, all you nations, take heed, all you who live on earth!
Reading parables. [Prov.8:32–36, 9:1–11]
Son, listen to me: and blessed are those who preserve my ways. Hear wisdom, and be wise, and do not deny it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, and the man who keeps my ways, who watches at my doors always, who keeps the order of my entrances: Depart for my sake, depart from your life, and The will of the Lord is prepared. But those who sin commit dishonor to their own souls: and they who hate me love death. Wisdom built herself a house, and established the seven pillars: she sacrificed her sacrifice, and mixed her wine in her cup, and prepared her table. He sent his servants, calling with a high sermon to the cup, saying: Let him who is foolish turn aside to me: And to those who require intelligence, say, come, eat my bread, and Drink the wine that I have dissolved for you. Leave madness, and you will live: may you reign forever: and seek reason, so that you may live, and correct your reason in knowledge. He who punishes the wicked will receive dishonor for himself; he who reproves the wicked will create wickedness for himself: [reproaching the wicked will wound him].
Do not rebuke the wicked, lest they hate you: reprove the wise, and he will love you. Give wine to the wise, and the wisest will say: tell the righteous, and he will take it. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the counsel of saints is understanding: understand the law and have good thoughts. In this way, live a lot of time, and the years of your life will be added to you.
Reading the book of Proverbs [8:32–36; 9:1–11]
“My son! Hear me, and blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to wisdom and be wise and do not back down. Blessed is the man who will listen to me, and the man who will preserve my ways, watching every day at my doors and guarding the thresholds of my entrances. Because my outputs are the outputs of life and desire comes from the Lord. But those who sin against me commit iniquity against their own souls, and those who hate me love death.” Wisdom built a house for herself and set up seven pillars. She slaughtered her sacrifices, mixed wine in a bowl and set her table; She sent her servants to proclaim, calling with a solemn word to the cup: “Whoever is unreasonable, let him turn to me!” And to those who lack intelligence, she said: “Come, eat my bread and drink the wine that I have mixed for you. Leave foolishness and live, and take care of your understanding, so that you may have life, and correct your understanding with knowledge.” He who teaches the wicked will receive dishonor, but he who reproaches the wicked will subject himself to ridicule, for reproof is wounds for the wicked.
Do not rebuke the wicked, lest they hate you; rebuke the wise, and he will love you. Give a remedy to a wise man, and he will become wiser; Explain to the righteous, and he will willingly listen. The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and the desire of the saints is understanding, but knowledge of the law is characteristic of a good way of thinking. By doing this, you will live long, and the years of your life will be extended.
