Troparion of prophecy, tone 6:
Most High God, Living in heaven, Creator of every breath, save us: in You we trust, our Savior.
Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.
Troparion of prophecy, tone 6: Most High God, Who dwells in heaven, Who created everything that breathes! Save us, for we have placed our hope in You, our Savior!
Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 29), tone 5: To You, O Lord, I will call,/ and to my God I will pray.
Verse: I will exalt Thee, O Lord, for thou hast lifted me up, and thou hast not made my enemies glad over me.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 29), tone 5: Lord, I will call to You and pray to my God.
Verse: Lord, I will exalt You: You caught me and did not allow my enemies to triumph over me!
Reading the prophecies of Isaiah. [Isa.5:16–25]
The Lord of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the Holy God will be glorified in righteousness: And the spoiled ones will be fed like young men, and the desert lambs will devour the captives. Woe to those who draw sins, for they are already long, and for the yoke of youth is a belt of iniquity, who say: let them draw near, let him do, let us see, and let him come the advice of the Holy One of Israel, let us understand. Woe to those who say evil is good, and good is evil, to those who say darkness is light, and darkness is light, to those who say bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Woe to you who are wise within yourself, and understand before yourself. Woe to your mighty ones who drink wine, and to your nobles who dissolve strong drink: to those who justify the wicked for the sake of gifts, and even the righteous is to those who take from it. For this reason, just as a reed is burned by a coal of fire, and burned by a burning flame, their root will be like dust, and their flower will come up like dust: no You desired the law of the Lord of hosts, but the word of the Holy One of Israel provoked you.
And the Lord of hosts was angry with His people, and laid His hand on them, and smote them: and the mountains were irritated, and their corpses fell like pus in the midst of the way. and in all these His wrath is not turned away, but His hand is still on high.
Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [5:16–25]
The Lord of hosts will be exalted in justice, and in justice the Holy God will be glorified. And the spoiled shall graze like oxen, and the lambs shall feed in the deserts of the captives. Woe to those who draw to themselves their sins like a long rope and their iniquities like the thong of a cow’s yoke, to those who say: “Let what God will do come quickly so that we can see, and let the purpose of the Holy One of Israel be fulfilled so that we can know.” Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, darkness is light and light is darkness, bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own eyes. Woe to your mighty men and nobles who drink grape and fruit wines, who justify the wicked for gifts and deprive the righteous of what is rightfully theirs. For this, just as a reed flares up from a fiery coal and burns from a rushing fire, so their root will be like dust, and their flower will scatter into dust; for they did not want to fulfill the law of the Lord of hosts and led to the fulfillment of what was prophesied by the Holy Ones of Israel.
And the Lord of hosts was indignant and angry with His people, and laid His hand on them, and smote them, so that the mountains shook, and their corpses became like dung on the road. And despite all this, His wrath has not ceased, but His hand is still high.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 30), tone 6: In Thee, O Lord, I have trusted,/ let me never be ashamed.
Verse: By Your righteousness deliver me and save me.
Prokeimenon (Psalm 30), tone 6: Lord, I have placed my hope in You and may I never be ashamed!
Verse: According to Your justice, save me and preserve me!
