Troparion of prophecy, voice 1:

Just as we are strangers on earth, like all our fathers, preserve our short life without sin, O our Savior, and have mercy on us, like the Lover of Mankind.

Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.

Troparion of prophecy, tone 1: Since we are strangers on earth, like all our fathers, in our short life save us from sin, O our Savior, and have mercy on us as a Lover of mankind!

Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 5), tone 4: Hear the voice of my prayer, / My king and my God.

Verse: Inspire my words, Lord, understand my calling.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 5), tone 4: Turn to the sound of my prayer, O my King and my God!

Verse: Listen to my words, O Lord, hear my cry!

Reading the prophecies of Isaiah (Is. 1:19–31, 2:1–3).

This is what the Lord says: If you will, and listen to Me, you will eat the good land. If you do not want to, listen to Me below; you will girdle the sword: for this is the mouth of the Lord. How was the harlot, the faithful city of Zion, full of judgment, in which righteousness rested, but now (in it) are murderers? Your silver is untested, your innkeepers mix wine with water. Your princes do not submit, your commoners are not yours, loving gifts, pursuing recompense, not judging the orphans, and not heeding the judgment of widows. For this reason the Sovereign Lord of hosts says: Woe to the mighty in Israel, for My wrath will not cease against the enemy, and I will execute judgment on My enemies. And I will bring My hand upon you and kindle you into purity; I will destroy those who disobey, and I will take away all the wicked from You, and I will humble all the proud. And I will appoint your judges as before, and your counselors as from the beginning: and from now on you will be called the city of righteousness, the mother of the city, faithful Zion. His captivity will be saved with judgment, and with alms.

And iniquity will be crushed, and sinners together, and those who have forsaken the Lord will die. They will be ashamed over their idols, which they themselves have desired, and they will be ashamed over their gardens, which they themselves have desired. They will be like Terebinth, who swept away his leaves, and like a helicopter city that has no water. And their strength will be like a tree stalk, and their work will be like sparks of fire: and the wicked and the sinners will be burned together, and they will not be quenched. The word that came from the Lord to Isaiah the son of Amoz concerning Judah and Jerusalem. For in the last days the mountain of the Lord will be revealed, and the house of God will be on the top of the mountains, and will be exalted above the hills, and all the nations will come to it. And many nations will go out and say: Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, and he will tell us his way, and we will walk in it.

Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [1:19–31; 2:1–3a]

Thus says the Lord: if you are willing and listen to Me, you will eat the good things of the earth. But if you are not willing and do not listen to Me, you will become food for the sword, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this. How the faithful city, Zion, full of justice, became a harlot! The truth dwelt in him, and now there are murderers in him. Your silver is false, your sellers mix wine with water. Your princes are disobedient, accomplices of thieves, lovers of gifts, seeking bribes; they do not look into the affairs of orphans and neglect the affairs of widows. Therefore thus says the Sovereign Lord of hosts: Woe to the mighty in Israel! For My wrath will not cease against My adversaries, and I will execute judgment on My enemies. And I will lay My hand on you, and I will cleanse you completely with fire, I will destroy the disobedient, and I will remove all the wicked from you, and I will humble all the proud. And I will appoint your judges as before, and your counselors as at the beginning; and after this you will be called the city of righteousness, the mother of cities, faithful Zion. Through justice and mercy he will be saved from his captivity. And the wicked will be destroyed along with the sinners, and those who have forsaken the Lord will perish.

Thus they will be put to shame for their idols, which they themselves desired, and they will be put to shame because of their gardens, which they desired. For they will be like a turpentine tree that has shed its leaves, and like a garden without water. And their strength will be like a stalk of flax, and their works like sparks of fire, and the wicked and sinners will be burned together, and no one will quench it. The word that came to Isaiah the son of Amos concerning Judah and Jerusalem: In the last days the mountain of the Lord will be revealed and the house of God will be revealed on the tops of the mountains and will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will come to it. And many nations will go and say: “Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob, and He will tell us His way, and we will walk in it.”

Prokeimenon (Psalm 6), tone 4: Lord, do not reprove me with Your wrath.

Verse: Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak; heal me, O Lord, for my broken bones.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 6), tone 4: Lord, do not reprove me of Your indignation!

Verse: Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak! Give me healing, Lord, because my bones are broken!
