I thank Thee, Lord, King of all, who reigns over heaven and earth and the underworld: I thank Thee, the Originless, All-Powerful King Almighty: I thank Thee, all-good, all-merciful, teacher of the lost, who came to earth from heaven and was incarnate from the Virgin Mary, ours for the sake of salvation, and who was one and a man like me, except for passions and every sin, not in a ghost, but in the truth, dispassionate, unjustly suffered by the wicked, and grant me dispassion, condemned for the multitude of my sins. I sing of Your ineffable long-suffering, O Lord: I magnify Your inscrutable foresight, I glorify Your immeasurable mercy, in whose image you have justified the condemned. I worship Your passion, in the image of which I, the most dishonest, have changed passions: I kiss Your cross, in which You condemned my sin and freed me from the condemnation of death: I kiss the nails thereof, in the image of an oath You took the prohibition: I kiss the ulcers, in the image of my obedience the ulcers were healed.
I kiss the cane, with which you signed the release and with which you wounded the head of the obstinate serpent: I kiss the copy, which tore my handwriting to pieces and opened the source of immortality: I kiss the lip, watered by my father and brought to Thy most pure lips, with which my disobedience turned bitter into sweet. O immeasurable depth of Thy mercy, O Christ our Savior! In the same way, we humbly fall with gratitude to You, and we kindly bow to Your Life-giving Cross, by which You saved us from working for the enemy. We confess that You are the only Holy, the only Mighty and the only Giver of Life, and I apply your will to all. You, Lord, have given strength to the devil and to his army, and we send up glory to you, with Your Originless Father, and with Your Most Holy and Good and Life-Giving Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
