How can we praise you, the most courageous Vladimir among earthly rulers? How shall we give thanks to you, since by you the knowledge of the Lord and the flattery of idols has been abundant, since by your command Christ is glorified throughout all our land? How did you believe? How did you seek Christ? Tell us, your children, where the scent of the Holy Spirit comes from? You have not seen Christ, nor walked on him: what kind of disciple have you found? You did not see the apostle come to your land, you did not see him casting out demons in the name of Christ, healing the sick, raising the dead. Amazing miracle! And the king and ruler, seeing all this coming from holy men, did not believe, but rather gave them over to passions and torments: but you, O blessed one, without seeing or hearing all these, you came to Christ, understanding that One is the Creator of the visible and the invisible, the heavenly and the earthly, and as an ambassador to peace, ours for the sake of salvation, His beloved Son. And having thought this, you entered the holy font.

And now, in the nine hundredth summer and many more that have passed, look upon your land, see your children, see the most pious sovereign Emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich painting the table of your land, rejoice and be glad. See how your people live, how they preserve the essence of the Lord, how they keep their faith according to your tradition, how they glorify Christ, how they worship His name. See the city and its shining majesty, see the blossoming church, see the growing Christianity, see your city Kyiv, so many saints of God, resting in incorruption, shining, and fragrant with incense, and with the praises and divine songs of the saints we announce.

Seeing how your faithful radiance through your intercession and intercession was not quickly dried up by the heat of unbelief, but that the rain of God’s haste brought forth abundant fruit, rejoice in spirit, in the lords of the apostle, who did not restore the dead body, but in the present soul He raised the dead! Rejoice, our comforter and teacher of good faith!

You were, O honorable head, a garment for the naked, a feeder for the hungry, a helper for widows, a strange refuge, a protector for the offended, an enrichment for the poor. With this good deed in heaven, having received retribution and the sight of the sweet face of God, satiated, do not cease praying for your land and for the children in whom you reigned faithfully, especially for the most pious sovereign Emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich, may he keep me in peace and good faith, betrayed by you, and yes Orthodoxy is ever glorified in our land, and may the Lord not forsake us, even if we still wander this long century, and even if we still sin against our Lord and Master, like a newly purchased slave, unable to please his master.

We raise our hands to you and pray to you: pray to the Lady of all, may he extend, as long as peace endures, His mercy on our fatherland and His people, driving away enemies, establishing peace, delivering from famine, our king, our co-dealer, a terrible adversary, instructing the Bolyars, establishing cities, growing His Church, preserving His inheritance, saving husbands and wives and babies, and preserving His mercy, in the unity of faith together we cheerfully and joyfully glorify our Lord Jesus Christ, with the Father and with the Holy Spirit, the Indivisible and One-Divine Trinity, reigning in heaven and on earth, now and ever forever and ever.
