O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable mercy toward man, Thou hast received into Thyself our entire mixture from the blood of the holy and life-giving Crosses and from the Holy Spirit, by Thine own divine and heavenly presence, that through Thy compassion, peace, and power we might receive salvation. By Thy reception of the life-giving and saving sufferings, Thou dost crush, O Lord, stars, death, and my soul’s mortal sufferings in the body.

By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou hast buried the kingdom of hell, burying also my sinful thoughts and counsels, and the crafty spirits. By Thy three-day and life-giving resurrection, Thou hast raised up fallen Adam, raising me who have sinned, offering to me a likeness of repentance.

By Thy glorious ascension, Thou hast made holy the reception, and by Thine own divine throne Thou hast granted me to partake of Thy divine mysteries with pure heart. By the coming of Thy Comforter, O Lord, Thou hast prepared vessels for Thy glory and showed me Thy coming.

Wilt Thou again judge all the world in righteousness, grant me also to meet Thee on the clouds, Judge and Creator of my soul, with all Thy holy ones: that I may now and ever praise Thee, with Thy unbeginning Father and Holy Spirit, the Life-giving Temple, now and forever. Amen.

Mercy, O God, to Saint John Damascus:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power to forgive sins: For thou art good and lover of mankind, and dost despise my every sin whether known or unknown: And vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: Not in hardness, nor in suffering, nor in the addition of sins, but in cleansing, and anointing, and putting on, for the coming life and kingdom: In the wall and help, and in the repulse of adversaries, in the extirpation of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind; to thee we send glory, with thine eternal and glorious Church, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin most pure:

We know, O Lord, because unworthy we partake of Thy precious Body and Thy precious Blood; and I am guilty, and condemn myself, drinking not considering Thy Body and Blood of Jesus Christ: but daring on Thy liberality, I come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which is in me. O Lord, have mercy on me, and do not accuse me, but work with me according to Thy will: and let me be made holy, both in body and spirit, for the healing of soul and body: in the burning of all vain thoughts, and crafty deeds, and works of the devil, in my heart's actions: in boldness and love, wherefore to Thee, for correction of life, and establishment, in return of virtues and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in the gift of holiness, in guidance of eternal life, in the light blameless before Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Mercy Thee, O Holy One, hath been newly named with God's Word.

Oft have I sinned in the flesh, from a foul heart, from an unclean tongue, from the depths of my soul, defiled by them. Receive, O Theotokos, my prayer and do not despise me in word or deed, nor in figure, nor in ignorance. Give me boldness to speak as Thou wilt, Theotokos mine. More than this, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than a harlot; yet Thou didst lead me into the place where Thou abidest, buying ointment with my tears to anoint Thy feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos mine. As He who came not from the heart, but being moved by words: give me, I beseech Thee, Thy feet to kiss, hold, and kiss again with streams of tears, as with a precious ointment, anointing me boldly. Wipe away my tears with them, cleanse me with them, saying: Leave off my transgressions, and grant me repentance. Weigh my sins in multitude, weigh my fetters, and see the marks; but also weigh my faith, and my free will, and hear my sighs. Hide not from Thee, O my God, Creator of mine, Preserver of mine, neither a single tear nor a drop of sweat. Thou seest my sin, Thou seest my labor, and all my sins I have left behind, O All-holy. Truly, Thou hast said, Master: every member of my flesh, and my blood, in this body of mine abideth; verily, Thou art one with me, Thy God. Verily, the Word is true: by partaking of Thy divine Mysteries and worshipping Thee, I am not alone, but with Thee, O my God, in a threefold light, enlightening the world. Truly, no other shall abide with me except Thee, Giver of life, breath of mine, joy of mine, comforter of mine. For this cause have I come to Thee, as Thou didst see, with tears and a contrite heart, that Thou mayest deliver me from my transgressions, and partake of Thy unspotted Mysteries without condemnation. That Thou mayest abide, as Thou hast said, Triune light: that the deceiver, by his deceitful words, may not take me away from Thee, nor lead those who worship Thee into sin. For this cause I now come to Thee, knowing well, as another, not to transgress against Thee, having done my daily work. But we know also, that neither the greatness of our transgressions nor their multitude can surpass Thy many long-suffering and boundless love; but with warm compassion Thou dost cleanse, enlighten, and create light for those who partake of Thy divine Mysteries without envy: and Thou speakest to them often, as to Thy true friends. This boldness worketh in me, this putteth me forth, Theotokos mine. And by Thy rich gifts, rejoicing together, trembling, partaking of the fire, like green grass, and a strange wonder, being anointed with unquenchable oil, as if a cup of ancient unquenchable fire burning. Now I offer Thee my contrite heart, my grateful mind, my grateful words, soul and body mine, bowing down before Thee, glorifying, and praising Thee, O my God, because Thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

Lord, strengthen me, sustain me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, will, whether willingly or unwillingly, whether by reason or without reason; all of them, utterly forgive. For Thou art good and lover of mankind: and through Thy prayers, O holy servants and mighty powers, and all the holy powers from ages past, uncondemned by Thy good pleasure, receive me into Thy holy and precious body, and Thy pure blood, for healing of my soul and body, and for cleansing of my wicked thoughts. For Thou art the Church, and strength, and glory, with steadfast and mighty house, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
