O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable mercy toward man, Thou hast received into Thyself our entire mixture from the holy and life-giving bloods, surpassing even that which is naturally born, granting us through Thy divine-human presence and by the will of the Father, to partake of Thee, preserving in peace, strength, and power. By Thy reception, O Life-giving and Saviour suffering, Thou dost crush, O Star, spear, death, and my soul’s earthly sufferings.

By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou hast buried the kingdom of the dead, burying my sinful thoughts and counsels, and the crafty spirits.

By Thy three-day life-giving resurrection, Thou hast raised up the fallen first man, raising me also who have sinned, presenting to me an image of repentance.

By Thy glorious ascension, Thou hast sanctified the reception, and by Thy right hand Thou hast granted me to partake of Thy holy mysteries with a pure heart.

By Thy Comforter’s vision, O Lord, Thou hast made vessels of honor, showing me Thy coming.

Wilt Thou again judge the world in righteousness, grant me to meet Thee on the clouds, Judge and Creator of my soul, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever, and unto ages of ages, praise Thee with Thy unending Father and throne, holy, glorious, life-giving glory. Amen.

Mercy, O God, to Saint John Damascus:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power to forgive sins: For thou art good and lover of mankind, despise my every sin in knowledge and ignorance; and vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: not by weight, nor by suffering, nor by the addition of sins, but by cleansing, and anointing, and putting on, for the attainment of eternal life and kingdom. In thee I find strength and help, and in thee resistance to adversaries, in the extirpation of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind: unto thee we send glory, with thine all-holy, glorious, immortal Father, and thy holy Spirit, now and ever, and for ever. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin Flower of Greatness:

We know, O Lord, because unworthy we partake of Thy precious Body and holy Blood; and I am guilty, and condemn myself, drinking not judging the Body and Blood of Thee and my God: but daring on Thy liberality, I come to Thee, saying: Give My flesh, and drink My blood, which is in Me, and I in it. Have mercy on me, O Lord, and do not accuse me, but work with me according to Thy will: that I may be made holy by healing, cleansing, enlightenment, preservation, salvation, both of soul and body: in the anguish of all my thoughts, and of evil deeds, and of devilish works, in my heart's intentions. In boldness and love, whereunto I am come, for correction of life, and establishment, in return of virtues and perfection: in fulfillment of Thy commandments, in common prayer, in guidance of eternal life, in the light blessedly acceptable on Thy fearful judgment: not to judgment or condemnation.

Mercy Thee, O Holy One, hath been newly named with God's Word:

Blessed are the contrite in heart, from the loathsome of heart, from the unclean tongue, from the soul defiled; receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. More than this, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot, who was led into thy house, having bought ointment with her tears, to anoint thine feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As she did not hide herself from coming to thy heart, but rather humbled herself, saying: "Give me to kiss thy feet, and hold them, and kiss them, and with streams of tears, as a most precious ointment, anoint them." Wipe away my tears with thine eyes, cleanse me with them, saying: "Cease from me, O my transgressions, and grant me repentance." Weigh my sins, weigh my labors much, and see my sighs; but also weigh my faith, and thy will, and hear my sighs. Hide not from me, O my God, my Creator, my Saviour, a single tear, or part of one. For thou seest unaided what I have not done: in thy book it is still unwritten. See my humility, see the toil of my hands much, and forgive all my sins, O my All-holy; that with a pure heart, with a contrite mind, and a broken spirit, I may partake of thy holy mysteries, by which one is quickened and made holy. For thou hast said, Master: "Every member of my flesh, and my blood, in this body of mine abides, in whom also I am." Truly the Word of all things is thy God: for those who receive and make the divine Mysteries with unworthiness, are not alone, but with thee, O Theotokos, by a threefold light, enlightening the world. That thou mayest abide, as thou hast said, triply with me, that no one else may find me thy grace, but the deceiver shall deceive me with his guile, and lead those who make thy words unworthily into delusion. For this reason I now come to thee, weeping and humbled in spirit, to receive from thee deliverance of my transgressions, and to partake of thy unspotted Mysteries without condemnation. Thus, as thou hast said, with a threefold prayer: that the deceiver may not take me, the sinner, nor the deceitful one lead those who make thy words unworthily into delusion. With a contrite spirit now I come to thee, knowing another also, as I am, does not sin against thee, neither in the day of my labors, for I have labored. But we know again, that no matter how great the transgression, or how many sins exceed thy much-enduring and extreme love for man: but with warm compassion thou cleansest, and enlightenest, and makest light for partakers, making them work together with thee without envy: and strange as it is to angels and human thought, thou dost converse often with them, as with thy true friends. This boldness doth work in me, this doth thrust upon me, O Theotokos. And by thy rich grace, rejoicing together, trembling, partaking of the fire, like green grass, and a strange wonder, being watered not by fire, as if a cup of ancient fire were burning. Now with thankful heart, with a grateful spirit, with my lips, soul and body, I prostrate myself, glorifying thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

Lord, strengthen me, support me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, willfully or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly, all of them utterly forgive, for Thou art good and lover of mankind: and with Thy prayers, prevail upon Thine holy ministers and Thy mighty powers, and all the holy powers from ages past to bless me with Thy unmerited goodness, to receive my body and soul, and Thy precious blood, for healing both soul and body, and for cleansing my evil thoughts. For Thou art the Church, and strength, and glory, with Thy ever steadfast and faithful household, now and forever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
