O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable mercy toward man, Thou hast received into Thyself our entire mixture from the blood of the incarnate and double-natured, more than natural, Theotokos, by Thy divine-human host and the will of the Father, preserving in Thy holy keeping, preeminently life, peace, and power. By Thine reception, O Life-giving and Saviour suffering, Thou hast conquered death, O my soul’s deathless sufferings.

By Thy burial, O Lord, the captive kingdom was buried; by Thy righteous thoughts, O Lord, my evil counsels and craftiness were destroyed. By Thy three-day life-giving resurrection, Thou raisedst up the fallen father, raising me also who had fallen through sin, presenting to me an image of repentance.

By Thy glorious ascension, Thou didst sanctify the reception, and by Thy divine right hand Thou hast granted me to partake of Thy holy mysteries. By the coming of Thy Comforter in a dream, Thou didst show me the vessels consecrated by Thee, and didst reveal to me Thy coming.

Wilt Thou again judge the whole world with righteousness, O Lord, meet me on the clouds as my Judge and Creator, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever praise Thee with Thy unending Father and throne, and Thy glorious house, for ever and ever. Amen.

Mercy, O Lord, to St John Damascus:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power to forgive sins: For thou art good and lover of mankind, despise thou my every sin in knowledge and not in knowledge; and vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: not by burden, nor by suffering, nor by the addition of sins, but by cleansing, and consecration, and anointing, for the enjoyment of the future life and kingdom: in the wall and help, and in the defense against resistances, in the extirpation of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind; to thee we send glory, with thine Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin Flower of Greatness:

We know, O Lord, that unworthy we are to partake of Thy precious Body and Blood; and we confess our sin, judging ourselves and drinking thereof, not considering the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ Thine: but daring by Thy bounty, we come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which is in me. Have mercy on me, O Lord, and do not condemn me for my sins, but work with me according to Thy will: and may I be made holy through the healing of Thy sanctification, cleansing, enlightenment, preservation, salvation, and the glorification of soul and body: in the burning away of all vain thoughts, of evil deeds, and of the works of the devil in my thoughts. In boldness and love towards Thee, for correction of life and establishment, for return to virtue and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in the strength of Thy sanctification, in the light glorious and pleasing on Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Mercy Thee, O Holy One, hath been newly named with God's Word:

Blessed are the contrite in heart, from the filth of the heart, from the uncleanness of the tongue, from the soul defiled. Receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. More than that, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot, who was led into thy house, having bought ointment with her tears, to anoint thine feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As she did not hide herself from coming with a contrite heart, saying: “Give me to kiss thy feet, and hold them, and kiss them, and wipe them with my tears, as with the most precious ointment.” Wipe away my tears with thine eyes, O my God, my Creator, my Saviour, neither hide from me a single tear. Thou seest the multitude of my sins: in thy book they are not written yet. See my humility, see my toil, and forgive all my sins, both mine own and those of all men. That I may with a clean heart, with a contrite mind, and a broken spirit, partake of thy holy mysteries, by which all living and unliving are quickened and saved. For thou hast said, O Master: “Every member of my flesh and blood, in this body of mine abideth, in whom I am.” Verily, the word is true, O God of mine: for those who partake of thy mysteries and work wonders, they are not alone, but with thee, Theotokos, by a threefold light, enlightening the world. For there shall be no one living except through thee, my life-giver, breath of my life, joy of my life, comforter of the world. For this cause I have come to thee, as thou seest, with tears and a contrite heart, that thou mayest forgive me my transgressions, and partake of thy unspotted mysteries without condemnation. That thou mayest abide, as thou hast said, triply: that no one may find me except through thy blessings, the deceiver shall not deceive me by his guile, nor lead those who work wonders in thy words astray. For this cause I now come to thee, knowing well, as another also does, that I have not sinned against thee, having done nothing evil during my days. But we know again, as it is greater than the greatness of transgressions and more numerous than the multitude of sins, exceeding much thy many long-suffering and boundless love: but with warm compassion thou dost cleanse, enlighten, and create partakers by thine unenviable dispensation to all men. And thou speakest with them often, as with thy true friends, strange and angelic thoughts, and human thoughts, conversing with them many times. This boldness worketh in me, this putteth me forth, Theotokos. And by thy rich blessings, rejoicing together, trembling, partaking of the fire, like green grass, and a strange wonder, being watered not with fire, as if a cup of ancient water were burning. Now with thankful heart, with thankful mind, with thankful hymns, my soul and body, I bow down before thee, and glorify thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

Lord, strengthen me, sustain me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, willfully or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly; all of them, O Good and Lover of Mankind: and through thy prayers, O Merciful One, intercede for me with thy holy servants and mighty powers, and all the holy ones from ages past who have been blessed to serve thee, that thou mayest receive my place and thy precious body uncondemned because of thy good will; and my blood, for healing both soul and body, and for cleansing my wicked thoughts. For thine is the kingdom, power, and glory, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
