O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable mercy toward man, Thou hast received into Thyself our entire mixture from the blood of the holy and life-giving Crosses and from the Holy Spirit, by Thine own self-compassionate and gracious will, preserving in Thee all, with exceeding glory, peace, and power. By Thy reception of the life-giving and saving sufferings, Thou hast conquered the stars, the heavens, death, and my soul’s earthly passions. By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou hast buried the kingdom of hell; by Thy holy thoughts, Thou hast buried my evil counsels and craftinesses of heart. By Thy three-day life-giving resurrection, Thou hast raised up fallen Adam, raising me also who have fallen through sin, presenting to me an image of repentance. By Thy glorious ascension, Thou hast sanctified the reception, and by Thy right hand’s exaltation, Thou hast granted me to partake of Thy holy mysteries with reverence. By the coming of Thy Comforter, O Lord, Thou hast made vessels holy, showing me Thy presence. May I again be judged in all the world by Thy righteousness, meet Thee on the clouds as my Judge and Creator, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever, and to the ages of ages, praise Thee with the unending Father and the Holy Spirit, the Life-giver. Amen.

Mercy, O God, to Saint John Damascene:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power over sin to forgive: For thou art good and lover of mankind, and dost despise my every sin whether known or unknown: And vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: Not in hardness, nor in suffering, nor in the addition of sins, but in cleansing, and consecration, and anointing, for the attainment of eternal life and kingdom: In strength and help, and in repelling adversaries, in the extirpation of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind: To thee we send glory, with thine Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin most pure:

We know, O Lord, because unworthy we partake of Thy precious Body and Thy precious Blood; and I am guilty, and condemn myself, drinking not considering Thy Body and Blood, O God, nor the blood of My God: but daring on Thy liberality, I come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which is in me, and I in it. Have mercy on me, O Lord, and do not condemn the sinful one; but work with me according to Thy will: and may I be made holy by Thy healing, cleansing, enlightening, preserving, and saving, both soul and body: in the burning of every thought, and of every evil deed, and of the works of the devil in my thoughts: in boldness and love, wherefore to Thee, for correction of life, and establishment, in return of virtue and perfection: in fulfillment of Thy commandments, in common prayer, in guidance of life eternal, in the light blessedly acceptable on Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Mercy Thee, O Holy One, hath been newly named with the Lord's own word:

Blessed are the contrite in heart, from the loathsome of heart, from the unclean tongue, from the soul defiled; receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. Moreover, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot, who was led into thy house, having bought ointment with her tears, to anoint thine feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As she did not hide herself from coming to thy heart, but saying: “Thy feet anoint I with these precious tears.” Wipe me with thy tears, cleanse me with them, saying: “Leave off and forgive my sins,” and grant me repentance. Weigh the multitude of my sins, weigh also my fetters, and by thy sight behold them: but also believe in me, and the will see, and the sighing hear thee. Hide not from me, O my God, Creator, Deliverer, a single tear. For thou seest unerringly with thine eyes: even in thy book they are written. Behold my humility, behold my toil; forgive all my sins, O my God of all: that I may receive the pure mysteries and holy sacraments, by them being quickened and sanctified every soul. For truly thou hast said, Master mine: “Every body and blood of me is in this body, and with it I am.” Verily, verily, thou art the Word of God: for partaking of thy divine gifts and transubstantiating those who make them, I am not alone, but with thee, O Theotokos, by the threefold light, enlightening the world. Truly, no one shall find me apart from thy blessings, that the deceiver may not take me by guile, and deceive those who make thy words. For this reason now I come to thee, as thou seest with tears, and with a contrite heart, asking for deliverance of my sins, and partake of thy unspotted mysteries without condemnation. That thou mayst abide, as thou hast said, triply: that no one, neither the deceiver nor the deceitful, may take me away from thee. With a contrite heart now I come to thee, knowing well, as another also, not to sin against thee, having done nothing evil in my day. But we know again, as none of our sins can compare with thy great longsuffering and boundless love: but by the warmth of thy compassion, thou cleansest, enlightenest, and makest light for the partakers, making them partake of thy divine gifts without envy: and thou speaketh to them many times, even as to thy true friends. This boldness worketh in me, this putteth me forth, O Theotokos. And by thy rich blessings, rejoicing together, trembling, tasting the fire, like green grass, and a strange wonder, being watered not with fire, as if a cup of old wine burning. Now with thankful heart, with thankful mind, with thankful hymns my soul and body bow down to thee, glorifying thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

O God, strengthen me, support me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, willfully or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly; all of them utterly forgive, for Thou art good and lover of mankind: and through Thy prayers, O Merciful, Thou hast prevailed with the holy servants and mighty powers, and all the saints from ages past, uncondemned by Thy good pleasure to receive me into Thy holy and precious body, and Thy precious blood, for healing both soul and body, and for cleansing my evil thoughts. For Thine is the kingdom, power, and glory, with Thy gracious and merciful home now and forever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
