O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable love of man, Thou didst receive into Thyself our very nature from the divine and rational bloods, more than by natural birth, that through Thine Incarnation and Will of Thy Heavenly Father, Thou mightest be born of the Theotokos, bearing in Thyself glory, peace, and power. By Thy reception, O Life-giving and Saviour suffering, Thou didst pierce, O Crowned One, nails, spear, death, and my soul’s mortal sufferings of the body. By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou didst bury the kingdom of death, burying my sinful thoughts and counsels of deceit, and the deceitful spirits. By Thy three-day and life-giving Resurrection, Thou didst raise from fall the primal man, raising me also who have fallen through sin, presenting to me an image of repentance. By Thy glorious Ascension, Thou didst sanctify the reception, and by Thy right hand’s exaltation, Thou didst deign to grant me to partake of Thy divine mysteries with a pure heart. By the Comforter’s descent, O Lord, Thou hast made vessels of honor, showing me Thy coming. May it be pleasing to Thee again to judge all the world in righteousness, and may I meet Thee on the clouds, Judge and Creator of mine, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever, and unto ages of ages, praise Thee with Thy unbeginning Father and the Holy Spirit, the Life-giving Temple. Amen.

Mercy, O Lord, to Ioannna of Damascus:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power to forgive sins: For thou art good and lover of mankind, despise my every sin whether known or unknown: And vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, and life-giving mysteries: Not for my weakness, nor in suffering, nor in the offering up of sins, but in cleansing, consecration, and anointing, that I may be made partaker of future life and glory: In thee, O wall and help, in thee, O refutation of adversaries, in thee, O destruction of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind: Unto thee we send our praise, with fear and trembling, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin Flower of Greatness:

We know, O Lord, that unworthy we are to partake of Thy precious Body and Blood; and we confess our guilt, judging ourselves and drinking thereof without considering the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ: but relying on Thy bounty, we come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which abide in me. Therefore compuncted, O Lord, do not condemn me, a sinner; but work with me according to Thy mercy: that I may be made holy by healing, cleansing, enlightening, preserving, and saving both soul and body: in the anguish of all my thoughts, and the craftiness of my deeds, and the works of the devil in my thoughts: in boldness and love towards Thee, for correction of life, and establishment, in return of virtues and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in the gift of holiness, in guidance to eternal life, in the light blessedly acceptable on Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Mercy Thee, O Holy One, hath consecrated anew the holy Name of God.

Blessed are the contrite in heart, from the loathsome of heart, from the unclean tongue, from the soul defiled; receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my images, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. More than this, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot; she, having entered where thou dwellest, bought ointment with her money and came boldly to anoint thy feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As she did not anoint thee with oil from her heart, but being moved by a word: give me also to kiss thy feet, hold them, and kiss them with tears, as with precious ointment. Wipe away my tears with thine eyes, cleanse me with them, saying: Leave off my transgressions, and grant me repentance. Weigh my sins, weigh my labors; and yet, O my God, Creator and Saviour, weigh also my faith and will, and my sighs. Hide not from thy eyes, O my God, my contrition and labor, nor a single drop of my tears. For all that I have not done is seen by thine eyes: in thy book it is written. See my humility, see the toil of my hands; forgive me all my sins, O my God, all things: that with a clean heart, with a contrite mind, and a broken spirit, I may partake of thy holy mysteries, by which are quickened and sanctified all who approach them. For thou hast said, Master mine: every body and blood of mine is in this body, in it am I. Truly the word of God is light and my God: for those who receive and work miracles, they are not one alone with me, but with thee, O Theotokos, by a threefold light, enlightening the world. For truly no other shall abide except thou, O Giver of life, breath, joy, and peace. For this reason I have come to thee, weeping and contrite in spirit, that thou mayest take away my transgressions, and partake of thy unspotted mysteries without condemnation. That as thou hast said, with a threefold greeting: that no other shall find me except by thy grace, the deceiver shall not deceive me with his guile, nor lead those who work miracles in thy words astray. For this reason I now come to thee, knowing well, as another also, not to sin against thee, having done nothing evil all my days; but we know that neither the greatness of transgressions nor the multitude of sins surpasseth the many long-suffering and great love of my God: but with warm compassion thou dost cleanse, enlighten, and create partakers by thy grace, without envy, as to others also. And often dost thou converse with them, as with thy true friends, speaking much to them. This boldness worketh in me, this putteth me to shame, O Theotokos. And through thy rich gifts of grace, rejoicing together and trembling, partaking of the fire, like green grass, and a strange wonder, being watered not by fire, as if a cup of ancient oil were burning. Now with thankful heart, with a grateful spirit, with my soul and body, I prostrate myself, glorifying thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

Lord, strengthen me, support me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, willfully or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly; all of them, O Good and Lover of Mankind: and through thy prayers, O Merciful, thou hast interceded for us with the holy and mighty servants of thine, and all the saints from ages past, uncondemned by thy good pleasure to receive me into thy holy and precious body, and thy pure blood, for the healing of my soul and body, and for the cleansing of my evil thoughts. For thou art the Church, and power, and glory, with a steadfast and strong house, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
