O One Immortal and Unaging Lord, for Thy ineffable mercy toward man, Thou didst receive into Thyself our very nature from the divine and rational bloods, more than by nature born, that by Thine own Divine Incarnation and will of Thy Son, Thou mightest be glorified in human flesh, peace, and strength. By Thy reception of the life-giving and saving sufferings, Thou didst conquer the stars, the sword, death, and my soul’s mortal passions. By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou didst bury the kingdom of hell, and by Thy holy thoughts Thou didst destroy the sly counsels and cunning spirits. By Thy three-day life-giving Resurrection, Thou didst raise up the fallen father, and Thou didst set me, who had fallen through sin, an example of repentance. By Thy glorious Ascension, Thou didst sanctify the reception, and by Thy right hand Thou didst grant me to partake of Thy divine mysteries with a pure heart. By the coming of the Comforter, O Lord, Thou didst make holy vessels and showed me Thy coming. May I again be judged in the whole world by Thy righteousness, meet Thee on the clouds as Judge and Creator of mine, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever praise Thee with Thy unending Father and the Holy Place, O Life-giving Temple, now and forever, and for ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O God, to Saint John Damascus:

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power to forgive sins: For thou art good and lover of mankind, despise my every sin whether known or unknown: And vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: Not by weight, nor by suffering, nor by the addition of sins, but by cleansing, and consecration, and anointing, that I may be made worthy of the hope of life and resurrection: For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind; and to thee we send glory, with thy Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin Flower of Greatness:

We know, O Lord, that unworthy we are to partake of Thy precious Body and Blood; and we confess our sin, judging ourselves and drinking, not reasoning about the Body and Blood Thou hast given me: but daring on account of Thy bounty, we have come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, drink my blood, which is in me, and I am in it.

O Lord, have mercy on me, and do not judge me as a sinner; but work with me according to Thy will: that I may be made holy by healing, cleansing, enlightenment, preservation, salvation, and the glorification of soul and body: in the burning away of all vain thoughts, of evil deeds, and of the works of the devil in my thoughts. In boldness and love towards Thee, for correction of life and strengthening, for return to virtue and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in the common table, in guidance of eternal life, in the light pleasant before Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Mercy, Thee, hath been newly vouchsafed holy speech:

Oft have I sinned, O my Spirit, from the foulness of heart, from the uncleanness of tongue, from the impurity of soul. Receive my prayer, Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, Theotokos. More than that, teach me what I ought to do and say. I have sinned more than a harlot, yet thou didst lead me into the place where thou dwellest, having bought ointment with which to anoint thy feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As He who came not from the heart, but being moved by words: give me to kiss thine feet, hold them, and kiss them with tears, as with a precious ointment. Wipe away my tears with them, cleanse me with them: leave my sins behind, and grant me repentance. Bear my multitude of sins, bear also the weight of my sins, and see their number: but also believe in me, and hear my sighs. Hide not from me, O my God, Creator, Saviour, a single tear. For thou seest uncreated things with thine eyes; and yet more uncreated things are written in thy book. See my humility, see the toil of my soul, and forgive all my sins, both mine own and those of all: that I may receive the pure mysteries and holy sacraments, by which I am quickened and saved. For thou hast said, O Master: every member of my body and blood dwelleth in this body of mine; for indeed, the Word of all things is thy God: for he who partakes of the uncreated gifts and worships with blessings, is not alone, but with thee, Theotokos, in a threefold light, enlightening the world. Truly, no one shall find me apart from thy blessings, seduced by the deceitful, nor led astray by thy word-bearers. For this reason I now come to thee, weeping and humbled, that thou mayest take away my sins, and partake of thy unspotted mysteries unsullied. Let it be as thou hast said, threefold: let no one find me apart from thy blessings, but let the seducer, deceitful and unrighteous, not deceive me. With a humbled soul I now come to thee, knowing that like another, I have not sinned against thee, nor committed deeds of sin, as I did. But we know this again, for neither the greatness of sins nor their multitude surpasseth thy much-enduring love and extreme compassion: but with warm sympathy thou dost cleanse those who repent, and make them clean, and enlighten, and create light for partakers, making them work together without envy in the distribution of thy gifts; and often speakest to them as to thy true friends. This boldness maketh me, this putteth me forward, Theotokos. With thy rich blessings, rejoicing with trembling, we partake of the fire, a strange wonder, being watered not by fire, as an ancient pine is burned. Now I offer thee my thankful heart, my thankful soul and body, bowing down to thee, glorifying, and praising thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-throated:

O God, strengthen me, uphold me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, willfully or unwillingly, knowingly or unknowingly; all of them, O Good and Lover of Mankind, forgive. For with thy merciful prayers, O Lord, through the intercessions of thy holy servants and mighty powers, and all thy holy ones from ages past, uncondemned by thy good pleasure, receive my steadfast and precious body, and my pure blood, for the healing of my soul and body, and for the cleansing of my wicked thoughts. For thine is the kingdom, and power, and glory, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
