After the communion of the believers, the priest places the holy chalice on the throne and puts into it the parts taken from the prosphora, in memory of the saints, living and dead, with the words:
Wash away, O Lord, the sins of those remembered here with Your honest blood, the prayers of Your saints.
Remember, Orthodox Christian, that when the priest puts into the chalice the particles taken from the prosphora you brought for your living and dead relatives, he prays to God that the Lord will “wash away the sins of those remembered with His honest blood” and that in this way all members of the Church, living and dead, are united with Christ as the head of the Church.
Having placed the Holy Gifts on the throne, the priest turns to the people and blesses them, saying:
Save, O God, Your people and bless Your heritage!
The coming believers, aware of the benefits received, sing:
We have seen the true light, we have received the Heavenly Spirit, we have found the true faith, we worship the inseparable Trinity: for she has saved us.
At the end of this song, the priest, having sprinkled the Holy Gifts and saying to himself: “Blessed is our God,” appears to the people for the last time with the holy cup and proclaims:
Always, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Believers, worshiping the Holy Gifts to the ground, carried to the altar, as if the Savior ascending to heaven, sing:
May our lips be filled with Thy praise, O Lord, for we sing Thy glory, for Thou hast made us worthy to partake of Thy holy, Divine, immortal and life-giving Mysteries: keep us in Thy holiness, and learn Thy righteousness all day long. Alleluia.
After placing the Holy Gifts on the altar, the clergyman (deacon, if any) with a short litany invites those present to give thanks for the communion of the Holy Mysteries, saying:
Forgive us for accepting the Divine, holy, most pure, immortal, heavenly and life-giving, terrible Mysteries of Christ; we worthily thank the Lord.
The priest concludes the litany with the exclamation:
For You are our sanctification, and to You we send glory, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
After this, with the words: “Let us depart in peace,” the priest gives permission to those present to leave the church. The choir, on behalf of those present, expresses a desire to leave the church “in the name of the Lord,” that is, with God’s blessing. The priest goes beyond the pulpit and says the so-called prayer behind the pulpit:
Bless those who bless Thee, O Lord, and sanctify those who trust in Thee, save Thy people and bless Thy inheritance, preserve the fulfillment of Thy Church, sanctify those who love the splendor of Thy house: Thou glorify them with Thy Divine power, and do not forsake us who trust in Thee. Grant peace to Your world, to Your churches, to the priest, the most pious, the most autocratic, our great sovereign, Emperor Nikolai Alexandrovich of all Russia, to Your army and to all Your people. For every gift is good, and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from You, the Father of lights: and to You we send glory, and thanksgiving, and worship, to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
The liturgy ends with the usual dismissal.
