Akathist to Venerable Sergius, Abbot of RADONEZH

Even the ascetic of virtues, as a true warrior of Christ God, you labored in great passion in your temporary life, in singing, in vigils, and in the image of your pardon, being your disciple: also and the Most Holy Spirit dwell in you, by His action you are brightly adorned: but as you have boldness towards the Holy Trinity, remember the flock that you gathered wisely, and do not forget how You promised to visit your children, O Reverend Sergius, our Father.

Chosen from the King of Powers, the Lord Jesus, given to Russia as a governor and wonderful miracle worker, Reverend Father Sergius! Glorifying the glory of the Lord who glorified you, we sing songs of thanksgiving to you, for with your prayers you have ever delivered us from the invasion of foreigners and sorrowful circumstances, as if we had Boldness in the Lord, free us from all troubles, and let us call to you: Rejoice, Sergius, quick helper and glorious miracle worker.

The Creator of angels, foreknowledge, according to the sovereign will of your pure heart, the all-zealous fulfillment of His will, even in the womb of the mother, with a threefold exclamation, showing you to the world true servant of the being of the Holy Trinity and teach everyone to cry out to you:

Rejoice, before all ages, for you were the faithful servant of Christ, foreseen.

Rejoice, in this time you were appointed to a blissful and heavenly home.

Rejoice, from your mother’s womb you were called to the service of the Heavenly King, like a warrior who wants to be faithful to Him.

Rejoice, for you have been justified by the grace of God.

Rejoice, not just Russia, but glorified throughout the entire universe.

Rejoice, you astonished all those who heard you with your thrice-fold cry in your womb.

Rejoice, having shown the monastic life of the Lenten people at your birth.

Rejoice, wonderful continence is revealed from the mother's breast.

Rejoice, for on Wednesday you did not taste even a heel of milk.

Rejoice, good and chosen fruit of good parents.

Rejoice, joy to those who mourn and mercy with faith to those who ask you for the giver.

Rejoice, you who drive away the sorrows of the evil ones in all sorts of adventures.

Rejoice, Sergius, quick helper and most glorious Miracle-worker.[http://www.deva-maria.ru/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=54:sergiy-radonezhsky&catid=17:2010-03-11-14-38-24&Itemid=6]

Mind, I still exist in the womb of my mother, glorify the Holy Trinity, the gift of Jesus Christ, and have strong faith, undoubted hope, true love for Him. Having established, grant thee, in the Name of the Holy Trinity, a glorious church and a wonderful monastery, and gather many monks into it. For this reason, for the sake of faith, I have learned to chant to you like this:

Rejoice, the honorable one of the Most Holy Trinity was also praised.

By the power given to you from above, contemplating the future like the present, you proclaimed to the Grand Duke Demetrius about the victory of the numerous proud Hagarites, who want Russia with fire and sword devastate, you prophesied, and from your monastic face you gave two monks to help the opponents, and with your holy prayer you cried out to God, you created victory for the Hagarians. Glorifying you for your sake, and asking for your help against those who resist the Orthodox army, we cry out to God: Alleluia.

Your parents and people thought about your threefold birth in your mother's womb in the church, and they were amazed, understanding that something glorious and wonderful was to happen: and from now on, having known yours joyful birth, rejoicing and joyful offering to you, saying:

Rejoice, having born good-natured and trustworthy things.

Rejoice, Sergius, quick helper and glorious miracle worker.

The storms of the life of this world, constantly agitated by internal and external suffering, Reverend Father Sergius, having escaped, you came to the untroubled heavenly refuge, to the green places and cool, where the inscrutable sweetness flows, the incorruptible food of God’s glory, the singing and voices of those celebrating. There you rest and rejoice, with all the angelic powers singing to God: Alleluia.

Hearing, Reverend Father Sergius, those near and far, your angel-like life, and the grace of miracles will flow forth, as through your prayer lepers are cleansed, blind they see, the lame walk, and the various ailments that come with faith receive health; these, having been delivered, cry out to you like this:

Rejoice, world-maker, who gives healing to all ailments.

Rejoice, freely merciful physician above nature.

Rejoice, treasure of great mercy and sorrowful compassion.

Rejoice, friend of all who cares about the people of industry.

Rejoice, ready to lay down your soul for men.

Rejoice, joy and consolation to those who come running to you.

Rejoice, gloriously brought to life by the dead through your prayer.

Rejoice, thou who fulfilled the monastic poverty in food.

Rejoice, in this place the mother-in-law asked God for a stream of water.

Rejoice, as the water that melts through your prayers heals ailments and works miracles.

Rejoice, miracle abyss, poured out by God.

Rejoice, wishful blessings to those who came to you.

Rejoice, Sergius, quick helper and glorious miracle worker.

The divinely blessed star appeared, O Reverend Father Sergius, decorating the church sky and all those wandering on the sea of this passionate life given to you from the Sun of Truth of Christ Jesus, the true God, illumine with grace, drive away the darkness of sorrows and darkness of all ailments and sorrows, instructing all those who come to you with faith on the path of salvation, to the eternal Heavenly Fatherland leader of those singing to God: Alleluia.

Seeing the Venerable Sergius that in this world all kinds of vanity and corruption are involved, he strives with all his soul to please the Eternal God, and truly did not labor in vain: for instead of corruption, imperishable, but most of all, the Lord will be honored to stand at the terrible Throne in eternal glory. Moreover, we cry out to him:

Rejoice, for where Christ is in the body, there you also remain.
