Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
Children, what happens to you when you have done something wrong to your parents, but they do not punish you because you asked for forgiveness and promised to behave well? Are you happy then? - Certainly! - Oh, how you rejoice then and thank your parents for loving you so much and being kind to you. And when your parents buy you new beautiful clothes, will they give you something? Aren't you happy again? - We must do the same in relation to Heavenly Father - God. We must thank God that He not only does not punish us for our sins, but also sends us His rich mercies. For this, and especially, children, for saving us all from eternal destruction, we must always say to Him with a feeling of heartfelt gratitude: Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee. This short prayer is called a short doxology, because in it we only glorify God for his love and mercy for us sinners, but we do not ask Him for anything and do not express any of our needs. By the word God we call not just the First Person of the Holy Trinity, but all Three Persons of the Divine.
Since the Triune God is indivisible, in our prayers we always say: Glory to Thee, O God.
