In the hymns and stichera the Gospel is proclaimed, Gloria:
Every breath and every creature doth glorify the Lord,
for by His death He hath abolished death,
that He might show unto men Thy resurrection, O Only-begotten,
since Thou art the only Lover of mankind.
Let the Jews say how warriors have slain those keeping watch over the King; for why should a stone preserve life; either let them bury the dead, or bow before him who is risen, speaking with us: glory to the multitude of thy mercies, O Saviour, glory to thee.
Let the people rejoice and be glad, the angel sitting upon the stone of the tomb, he saith to us: Jesus Christ is risen from the dead, O Saviour of the world, and hath fulfilled all the desires of every heart: let the people rejoice and be glad.
Angel of gladness, who rejoiced before thy conception by the Lord, bringeth thee more glorious gifts: an angel also hath sealed with stones the glory of thy tomb in thy resurrection: sorrowful is the place of weeping, but joyous are the images thereof foretelling: this very place of death, preacheth to us the Giver of life; therefore we cry to thee: O Giver of good things, unto thee be glory throughout the heavens.
Mourning with tears at thy grave, O Myrrh-bearer, ye have fulfilled their lips with joy, when they said: "Christ is risen."
Let the tongues and peoples of the Church of our God praise Him, for His will's sake who endured suffering and was three days in the depths of hell: and let them bow down to Him, risen from the dead, by whom thou hast enlightened all the ends of the world.
Hanged and buried wast Thou, O Jesus Christ, as Thou didst will; thou didst trample down death by death, and didst rise again in glory, for God and Master, granting the world life eternal and to bestow it.
Verily, truly, those who are lawless and seal the stone, have wrought greater wonders for us! To them is given to keep watch over reason, today passing through the grave, and they spake: Say ye to us, as sleepers, that strangers came and stole Him. And who would steal a dead man, much more one naked; Himself rose of His own authority, leaving in the grave the thief of His body: Come, see, O Jews, how not broken are the seals, death conquered and giving endless life to the race of man, and let great mercy prevail.
