Blessed art Thou, Lord,
Teach me the way of Thy righteousness.
The Angelic Council marvels,
seeing Thee reviving the dead,
Thou hast conquered mortality’s strength,
and with Thee raised Adam,
freed all from the depths of Hell.

Why dost thou weep with merciful tears, O comforters? / Your eyes are dimmed by the light of mercy; / A glorious angel of myrrh-bearers shineth in the grave: / Behold ye the grave and understand, / For Christ hath risen from the grave.

Selah at the dawn of myrrhbearers,
weeping by thy tomb,
but an angel stood before them and said:
"Cease weeping, do not lament;
for the Apostle hath spoken of the resurrection."
(Note: The last line is adapted to maintain the liturgical register while preserving the meaning. The original text uses "apostle," which in this context refers to St. Matthew's account of the resurrection.)
