Lord, I cry to thee; hear me; come to me in my cry.

Let my prayer be offered before thee as incense; the lifting up of my hands as an evening oblation.

Set a watch, O Lord, over my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Do not incline my heart to the words of wickedness, to justify guile in sins with men working lawlessness; neither shall I take my seat with the elect thereof.

Let the just one correct me with righteousness and rebuke me with oils of grace; lest he withhold his counsel from me, for still my prayer is in their calamities.

When their judges are overthrown in rocky places, they shall hear my words, for they are sweet.

As the earth is split open, so our bones were scattered at the mouth of Sheol.

But mine eyes look to thee, O Lord, thy word is my trust; let not my soul be put to shame.

Keep me from the snare they have set for me, and from the trap of the workers of iniquity.

‹. Let the wicked fall into their own nets; for I am alone, until I pass by.

Of thy two understandings, when thou art praying in the cave, remember them both, O Reader.

I cried to the Lord in my understanding, when I was in the cave of prayer.

I will pour out my prayer before Him; I will declare my distress before Him.

I looked upon my right hand, and behold, there was none to help me; no man had regard for the safety of my life.

I looked to the right and saw that none who sought me perished by flight from me; nor is there any who inquires after my soul.

I cried to thee, Lord; thou art my hope, my portion in the land of the living.

Hear my prayer, for I am in distress; deliver me from those who pursue me, for they have grown strong against me.

Release me from the prison of my soul to confess thy name, O Lord; the righteous wait for me until thou dost repay me. Faithful are they.

Alas, two-fold, when He drove Him into the wilderness, the Son of God, saith the Evangelist.

Hear my prayer, O Lord; incline to my supplication in Thy truth; answer me according to Thy righteousness.

And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for no man living shall be justified in thy sight.

For the enemy hath pursued my soul; he hath cast me down into the dust of life; he hath sat me in darkness, as those abiding in the depths of death.

Therefore my spirit is troubled within me; my heart within me is dismayed.

I remember the days of old and meditate on all thy works; I muse on the deeds of thy hands.

I stretch forth my hands to thee, O God; my soul is parched like a dry land in thy sight. Selah.

Hear me quickly, O Lord; my spirit is failing; do not hide thy face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the grave.

Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning, for in thee have I trusted; show me the way wherein I should walk, for I have lifted up my soul unto thee.

Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies, for unto thee have I fled.

Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God: thy holy Spirit may guide me on the earth righteously.

Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name's sake; in thy righteousness, bring my soul out of distress.

And by thy mercy, O Lord, destroy my enemies and those who distress my soul; for I am thy servant.
