Troparion of prophecy, tone 4:

Weigh our creation, weigh our weakness, O Lover of mankind: we have sinned, but we have not departed from You, O God, below the air of our hands to a foreign God. Spare us with Your goodness, O Compassionate One.

Glory, and now: and we repeat the same.

Troparion of prophecy, tone 4: You know how blind we are, You know our weakness, Lover of mankind: we have sinned, O God, but we have not departed from You, and we have not stretched out our hands to a foreign god. Spare us according to Your goodness, O Kindhearted One!

Glory, even now: and we repeat the same troparion.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 9), tone 4: I will confess to You, O Lord, with all my heart.

Verse: I will rejoice and rejoice in You, I will sing to Your name, O Most High.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 9), tone 4: Lord, I will glorify You with all my heart!

Verse: In You I will rejoice and be glad, I will glorify Your name in songs, O Most High!

Reading the prophecies of Isaiah (Is. 2:3–11).

This is the word of the Lord: out of Zion will come the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And the tongue shall judge in the midst, and shall convict many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks, and the tongue shall not take the tongue of the sword, neither shall they make use of it. fight. And now, in the house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord. For the people leave their house Jacob; Before, as from the beginning, the country was filled with their sorcerers, like foreigners, and the children of many foreigners were born to them. For their land was filled with silver and gold, and not exceeding the number of their treasures: and the land was filled with horses, and not exceeding the number of their chariots: And the land was filled with the abominations of the works of their hands, and worshiped them that they had done. their fingers. And bow the man, and humble the man, and I will not endure them. And now enter into the stones and hide yourself in the earth from the presence of the fear of the Lord and from the glory of His strength, when He rises to destroy the earth. For the eyes of the Lord are high, but man is humble: and the height of man will be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted on that day.

Reading the prophecy of Isaiah [2:3b–11]

Thus says the Lord: The law will come from Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And He will judge among the nations and rebuke many people; and they will beat their swords into plows and their spears into pruning hooks, and nation will not raise up sword against nation, and they will no longer learn to fight. And now, O house of Jacob, come, let us walk by the light of the Lord! For He left His people, the house of Jacob, because, as in the beginning, the country was filled with their prophecies, like those of foreigners, and many foreign children were born to them. For their country was filled with silver and gold, and their treasures were without number; and the land was filled with their horses, and their chariots were without number. And the earth was filled with the abominable works of their hands, and they worshiped what their fingers had made. And the man bowed down, and the man humbled himself, and I will not allow them. And now enter into the rocks and hide yourself in the earth from the fear of the Lord and from the glory of His power, when He arises to destroy the earth. For the eyes of the Lord are high, and man is low, and the height of man will be brought low, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 10), tone 6: The Lord is righteous, and you love righteousness, / righteousness in the sight of His face.

Verse: I trust in the Lord, as you say to my soul: fly through the mountains like a bird?

Prokeimenon (Psalm 10), tone 6: The Lord is righteous and loves righteous deeds, His eyes see righteousness!

Verse: I trust in the Lord, why do you say to my soul: “Like a bird, fly to the mountains”?

At the vespers

Prokeimenon (Psalm 11), tone 5: Thou, O Lord, preserve us and keep us from this generation and forever.

Verse: Save me, Lord, for the venerable one has become poor: for he has lost the truth from the sons of men.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 11), tone 5: You will preserve and keep us, O Lord, in this age and forever.

Verse: Lord, save me, for there are no more pious, for the truth has become scarce among the sons of men!

Genesis reading (Genesis 1:24–31, 2:1–3).

God said: Let the earth bring out every living creature according to its kind, four-footed creatures and creeping things, and the beasts of the earth according to its kind, and so be it. And God created the beasts of the earth according to their kind, and the livestock according to their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to their kind, and God saw that it was good. And God said: Let us make man in Our image and likeness, and let him rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, (and animals) and livestock, and all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. And God created man, in the image of God He created him, husband and wife He created them. And God bless them, saying: grow and multiply, and fill the earth, and rule over it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea (and the animals), and the birds of the air, and all the livestock, and everything the earth, and all the creeping things that creep on the earth. And God said: Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing herb that yields seed, which is on the top of the whole earth; and every tree that has seed in itself will be your food.

And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, that has life in itself, and to every green grass for food: and so it was. And God saw everything that the tree had created: and behold, it was very good. And it was evening, and it was morning, the sixth day. And the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their adornment. And God finished on the sixth day His works which He had done: and He rested on the seventh day from all His works which He had done. And God bless the seventh day and sanctify it, for in that day He ceased from all His works which God began to create.

Reading Genesis [1:24–31; 2:1–3]

God said: “Let the earth bring forth every living thing according to its kind: four-footed animals, and creeping things, and wild animals of the earth, and livestock, and everything that moves on the earth, according to their kind.” And so it became. And God created the beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and the livestock, and every creeping thing of the earth according to their kinds. And God saw that they were good. And God said: “Let us make man in our image and likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and the birds of the air, and the livestock, and over all the earth, and over everything that moves on the earth.” And God created man, in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them. And God blessed them and said: “Grow and multiply, and fill the earth, and become lords thereof, and rule over the fish of the sea, and the birds of the air, and all the livestock, and all the earth, and all that creeps on the earth.” And God said: “Behold, I have given you every herb that is good for sowing, that yields seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree that has fruit with seed for sowing, this will be food for you.

And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to every thing that creeps on the earth, that has a living soul in itself, I have given every green grass for food.” And so it became. And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning: the sixth day. And the heavens and the earth and all their adornment were completed. And God finished on the sixth day His works which He had made, and on the seventh day He ceased all His works which He had done. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on that day He finished all His works that He had begun to do.

Prokeimenon (Psalm 12), tone 6: Look and hear me, / Lord my God.

Verse: How long, Lord, will you forget me completely? How long do you turn your face away from me?

Prokeimenon (Psalm 12), tone 6: Turn your gaze to me and hear me, O Lord my God!

Verse: How long, Lord, will You completely forget me? How long will you turn your face away from me?

At the end of the second prokeimna, the deacon, turning to the people, exclaims at the royal doors: Command. The priest in front of the throne, holding a lighted candle and censer in his hands, depicts a cross with them and says: Wisdom, forgive. Then, turning to the people, in the open royal doors he proclaims: The Light of Christ enlightens everyone (according to established practice, everyone bows to the ground). Then the reader reads the second proverb.

Proverbs reading (Prov. 2:1–22).
