1. Lord, turn my thoughts of unbelief into undoubted faith, grant me, instead of grumbling, sincere gratitude for everything, instead of forgetfulness of God, an unceasing deep memory of You, the Omnipresent and All-Containing One, instead of ignorance, clear contemplation or mental processing of all the saving Christian truths, instead of unreasonableness, feelings trained in reasoning about good and evil, instead all blasphemous thoughts - Praise and glorification of God; instead of voluptuousness - all abstinence, fasting and self-mortification, instead of love of glory - humility and thirst for obscurity, instead of love of money - contentment with little and love of poverty; also, instead of anger - meekness, instead of hatred - love, instead of envy - rejoicing, instead of vengeance - forgiveness and peace, instead of gloating - compassion, instead of malice - goodwill.
Decorate my mental strength with unceasing attention, prayer and knowledge of Divine truths, my desirable strength with complete selflessness and renunciation of all self-indulgence, my irritable strength with love; May the light of your mind never darken in me, and the spoken unkind thoughts will not be able to find a place in me. God, as Saint David commands, I will turn away from evil and do good (cf. Ps. 33:15).
2. The Lord is my enlightenment and my Savior, whom will I fear? The Lord is the protector of my life, from whom shall I fear? Even if a regiment turns against me, my heart will not fear; If battle arises against me, I will trust in Him (Ps. 26:1, 3).
I do not trust in my bow, and my sword will not save me: In God I will boast all the day long, and in His name we will confess forever” (Ps. 43:7, 9).
3. But I will not be afraid of your fear, enemies; I will be confused. The Lord of hosts, I will sanctify Him, and He will be your fear for me. I will trust in Him, and He will be my sanctification. Even if… you are able, you will still be victorious: and even if you take counsel, the Lord will destroy you, and the word that you speak will not abide in you” (Isa. 8:12-14, 9, 10).
4. Arise, O Lord, help me and deliver me for Your name’s sake (Ps. 43:27).
Overcome, my Jesus, those who fight me, take up arms and shield and arise to help me: Let those who seek my soul be ashamed and put to shame, let those who think evil of me turn back and be ashamed” (Ps. 35:1, 2, 4).
5. Lady Theotokos, do not allow me to yield to the enemies and be defeated by them. My guardian angel, with the blood of your wings protect me from the enemy’s arrows and with your sword strike and drive them away from me.
