Come, Crystal-like Life and Almighty Hand, All-Holy and Life-Giving and Creator of the Soul, in the sovereign equality of Honor and Filiality, Whose is in the Three Persons the identity of dignity and Divinity, the advice of the consent, and the hedgehog one will. Come, my Lord, for whom my soul longs and desires. Come, the former desire within me, which created the desire for You, who is by no means unapproachable. Come, my dear, Joy and Pleasure and Glory. Come, my Breath, my Belly, Consolation of my soul. Be with me One Spirit, Most Good Master, inconceivably, immutably, unchangeably God above all. Be Yourself all to me in all, Food that cannot be spoken and that is never spent, eternally overflowing in the mouth of my soul and flowing from the wellspring of my heart: A robe that shines and is afflicted by demons: The cleansing that washes me with imperishable and holy tears, even Your coming grants, you will come to him. Be me the Unevening Light and the Unsetting and Unconcealed Sun: where are you hidden, nowhere do you have a place for Your peace?

Or is it for the sake of it that you don’t turn away anyone from everyone? That is why we always hide ourselves from You with our sins, not wanting to come to You. Leave me, O Lord, all harmful exaltation, and give me chastity of the eyes: put bridle on my tongue, submit my ears to your holy commandments: give me patience in sorrows, give understanding and strengthen my heart in long-suffering, in kindness, in abstinence, in compassion, in alms, in love, in humility, in quietness towards everyone, in aversion to demonic corruption. Grant me skillful reasoning in thoughts, which is worthy of preference: grant me to understand the flattering wiles of the devil, and to renounce them, and to cut off my own will, and to place what I care about myself on your providence, and from there on what is useful trust: for You have my life, my light, my salvation, and I will bless, and glorify and bow to You with Your Eternal Father, and Your Ever-Eternal and Natural Son, always, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.
