Most merciful and all-powerful Lord, my God, who art in heaven, for many reasons hast Thou descended and become incarnate, that Thou mightest save all. And again, save me by Thy grace, I beseech Thee: for if Thou hast saved me from deeds, there is no grace or gift but only a greater debt. Thou art full of mercies, and incomprehensible in thy thoughts! For believing in Thee, Thou didst say to Me, O My God, that the life of him who believeth in Thee shall be made alive, and he shall not see death for ever. And if faith without works is dead, yet with Thee I believe: save me, for Thou art my God and Creator. But let Thy faith and works be together, O My God; for Thou wilt not find a work from any of the righteous which I have done. Yet let that faith of mine prevail over all, let it declare, let it justify me, let it show me partaker of Thy eternal glory. Let not Satan deceive me, and boast, saying, ‘I have wrested thee away from Thy hand and from Thy gifts.’ But if He wills, save me; but if He willeth not, save my Saviour, before time, quickly, quickly, for Thou art my God from the womb of my mother. Grant me now to love Thee as I sometimes loved that very sin, and again to serve Thee without sloth, as I formerly served the deceitful one. More than this will I serve Thee and My God Jesus Christ, in Thee and Thy Theotokos, throughout all my days, now and ever, and for ever. Amen.

Mercy, O Angel who doth preserve the life of man.

Holy Angel, stand before the consecration of my soul and the passion of my life, do not forsake me, O sinner, from falling by reason of lack of self-control: let not a place be given to the crafty demon to possess me with bodily violence: strengthen the afflicted and poor hand of mine, and guide me on the way of salvation. O holy Angel, guardian and protector of my consecrated soul and body, forgive all those sorrows which I have caused thee in all the days of my life: and if I have sinned also this present night, cover me in the present day, and preserve me from every temptation by the adversary, that I may not be angry with God in any sin: and pray for me to the Lord, that He may confirm me in my own passion, and show me worthy of His goodness. Amen.
