O Most Merciful and All-Seeing Lord Jesus Christ, my God, for many reasons hast Thou come down and taken flesh, that Thou mightest save all. Again, save me by Thy grace, I beseech Thee: for if Thou hast saved me from deeds, there is no grace or gift but only a greater debt. Thou art rich in mercy and unsearchable in goodness! For believing in Thee, Thou didst say to Me, O my God, “Thou shalt live, and not see death for ever.” And though faith without works availeth nothing, yet I believe: save me, for Thou art my God and Creator. But let Thy faith and works be together, O my God; for Thou wilt not find one work of the just man lacking. Yet let that faith of mine prevail over all, let it declare, let it justify me, let it show me a partaker of Thine eternal glory. Let not Satan deceive me, and boast, saying, “I have wrested thee from Thy hand and from Thy gifts.” But if He wills, save me; if He willeth not, keep my salvation, prepare quickly, quickly, for I am perishing: for Thou art my God from the womb of my mother. Grant that now I may love Thee as I once loved that very sin, and again toil without sloth, as I toiled before with the deceitful one. More than ever will I toil for Thee and Thy God and Jesus Christ, in all days of my life, now and always, for ever and ever. Amen.
Mercy, O Angel who keepeth the life of man!
Saint Angel, stand before the anointing of my soul and the passion of my life, do not forsake me, sinner, nor let sin overcome me by lack of self-control: do not give place to the crafty demon to possess me with bodily force: strengthen the afflicted and sickly hand of mine, and guide me on the way of salvation. O Saint Angel, guardian and protector of my soul and body, forgive all those sorrows I have caused thee in all days of my life: and if I have sinned also this night, cover me in this present day, and preserve me from every temptation by the adversary, that I may not be angry with God. And pray for me to the Lord, that He may confirm me in my own passion, and show me worthy of His goodness. Amen.
