O Lord Jesus Christ, my God, strengthen me, sustain me, cleanse me and forgive me my sins, whether they be of willful disobedience, or of ignorance, whether in words or deeds, whether in thoughts or intentions, and all the feelings of my heart. And by thy seedless prayers, O Thou who art higher than the heavens, and by Thy holy and pure mysteries, O Theotokos, grant me to partake unworthily of those unspotted, life-giving, fearful mysteries, for the remission of sins and for eternal life: in thy acceptance, enlightenment, strength, healing, health of soul and body, and in the consumption and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, intentions, and night-time imaginings, those dark and deceitful spirits: for Thou art the King, and power, and glory, and worship, with Thy humble and pure temple, now and forever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
Mercy, O holy John Damascus:
Before the doors of thy temple, O Lord, I stand, and do not depart from evil thoughts: but thou, O God, didst save the penitent publican, and had mercy on the Canaanite woman, and didst overturn the robbers' doors, and overturned mine own petitions for love to thy creatures, and received me coming unto thee, as a sinner, and one bleeding: I kissed thy holy feet, and found therein sweet healing. And with thine holy nostrils holding back, thou hast loosed my sins. My soul, however, daring to touch all of thy body, that I may not fall, receive me as sinners, and enlighten mine inner senses, having cast away my sinful guilt by thy seedless prayers, for blessed art thou for ever and ever. Amen.
