Alas, two days, in remembrance of the Sabbath, let us pray.

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

For thy arrows have pierced me, and thy hand hath laid hold upon me.

There is no healing in my flesh from the face of your wrath; there is no peace in my bones from the face of my sins.

That my iniquities have overcome my head, as a heavy burden they have grown heavy upon me.

My loins were purified and healed from the face of my folly.

I am wearied and sorely troubled until the end, the whole day long mourning I went.

That my veins are filled with sorrows, and there is no healing in my flesh.

My heart pants, I have sunk in deep sorrow; my strength fails me because of the groaning of my heart.

‹. Lord, before Thee all my desires and sighings have not been hidden.

My heart is disturbed; my strength has failed me, and the light of my eyes; it is no more with me.

But my friends and those near to me came from opposite me and stood near, and those nearest stood afar off.

And they who sought my soul persecuted me, and those who sought my calamity spoke vanity and deceit all day long.

For I am like one who is deaf and heareth not, and like one without lips and openeth not his mouth.

For I became as a man hearing not and having no rebuke in his mouth.

For I have waited for thee, O Lord; for thou wilt hear me, O God.

For I will say concerning my enemies, "How greatly they have exulted over me.

For my adversaries are as strong as a lion; and mine enemies stir up war: they are put to the number of profane men.

That which is against me, I will proclaim and take care over my sin.

Forsake me not, O Lord; let not my adversaries rejoice over me. Let those who hate me be multiplied, but may they increase in wickedness.

Those who repay evil for good slander me, since I pursued righteousness and rejected me as though I were a hateful dead man.

O Lord my God, let not thy Holy Spirit depart from me; leave me not, O my Strength. Into thy mercy do thou bring me; for thou art my Salvation. To the end,

O Lord, in my help, Thou who dost save me.

At the end, let us sing a two-fold song, Lord.

I have kept watch over my ways, that I might not sin with my tongue; I have fastened a bridle on my lips, when the wicked stood before me.

My heart was hot within me, and I was at a loss; and my reproach was renewed.

My heart hath warmed within me, and in my meditation there shall be kindled a fire; I have spoken with my tongue.

Behold, Lord, make me to know mine end and the number of my days, what it is that I want.

Surely every man liveth in vanity; surely he is in travail for nothing: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

Alas, man walketh by a semblance, and all his thoughts bewray: he layeth up treasures, and knoweth not to whom he shall gather them.

And now, what is my endurance? Is it not the Lord and my substance with thee?

Deliver me from all my lawless deeds, O rebuke of a foolish people, Thou hast made me thus.

‹. I was smitten, and I opened not my mouth, for thou hast wrought it.

Remove from me thy rod and the fierceness of thy hand; for I have waxed faint.

In the rebukes for lawlessness, instruct the man and examine his soul like a spider; yet in vain is stirred up every man by psalms.

Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication; do not despise my tears, for I am a stranger and a sojourner, like all my fathers.

Weaken me, that I may rest before I depart and no longer be.

At the end, after two days, Lord.

I waited patiently for the Lord; and He took notice of me and heard my prayer.

And he led me out of the pit of distress and from the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.

Lord, place in my mouth a new song, a hymn to our God. Many shall see it and marvel, and they shall hope in the Lord.

Blessed is the man whose hope is in the Lord, who does not look upon vanities or foolishness.

Thou hast wrought many wonders, O Lord my God, and in thy thoughts there is none to be compared with thee. I have spoken, and they multiplied beyond number.

Then said I, Lo, I come; for in the volume of the book it was written of me,

Then said we: Behold, I come; in the book it is written concerning me.

I have purposed to do thy will, O my God; and thy law is within my heart.

‹. I have not hidden thy righteousness in my heart, Lord; I have spoken of thy faithfulness and thy saving justice among the great assembly.

Withhold not thy righteousness from me, O Lord; thy truth and thy salvation have I not hidden in my heart.

Lord, do not delay your compassion from me, nor let your mercy and truth overtake me.

That evil deeds surrounded me, of which there is no number; sins encompassed me, and I could not see; they were more than the hairs of my head, and my heart failed me.

Let thy mind be well pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, in thy good pleasure, protect me.

Let them be confounded and put to shame together who seek my soul to destroy it; they shall turn back in confusion and be put to shame who wish me evil.

Let us receive the Studen who speaketh in our name: Blessed, blessed.

But let all who seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee, O Lord; let them say at all times, “Great is the Lord; they who love thy salvation.”

I am poor and needy, but the Lord cares for me; my helper and my protector you are, O Lord my God; do not delay.
Glory:
