Glory be to Thee, O Lord, because Thou hast looked upon my humility and didst carry me into the hands of my enemies as a prisoner: but Thou hast saved me from the distress of my soul.
Now, O Master, may Thy hand cover me and let Thy mercy come unto me, for my soul is humbled and sorely afflicted in its going down, from the travail and corruption of this present life: that the crafty adversary may not meet with me and entangle me in darkness, for I have been ignorant both of hidden and manifest sins in these days; be Thou a shield to me, O Master, and let my soul not behold the dark glance of the evil spirits.
But let them receive from Thee, O Lord, Thy holy angels' bright and glorious light. Grant that with Thine strength Thou mayest raise me up to Thy heavenly judgment seat. When Thou judgest me, may not the hand of this world's prince take hold of me, for he seeketh to cast out sinners into the depths of hell; but stand by me, be my salvation and my protector: for my body's sufferings are a joy to Thy servants.
Forgive me, O Lord, who have defiled myself with the sins of this life, my soul, and cleanse it through confession and repentance. For Thou art blessed unto the ages of ages, Amen.
