Glory be to Thee, O Lord, because Thou hast looked upon my humility and didst carry me off into the hands of my enemies: but Thou didst save me from my distress, O Soul of Mine.

Now, O Master, may Thy hand cover me, and let Thy mercy come unto me, for My soul is humbled in its going down, being troubled by the travail and corruption of this body: that the crafty one may not meet with me in darkness, devising counsel to entangle me in the darkness of this life, having known both my hidden and manifest sins; be Thou a shield unto Me, and let My soul not look upon the dark gaze of the evil spirits.

Let them receive the light of Thy holy angels, bright and glorious. Grant me, O Lord, that I may stand before Thy throne of judgment, raised up by Thine own power to heaven. When Thou judgest me, may not the hand of this world's prince take hold of me, to cast me into the depths of hell, but stand for Me, be My Saviour and my advocate: for these bodily sufferings are a joy to Thy servants.

Purge me, O Lord, who have defiled myself with the passions of this life, cleanse My soul by confession and repentance. For Thou art blessed unto the ages of ages, Amen.
