Glory to Thee, O Lord, because Thou hast looked upon my humility and didst carry me into the hands of my enemies as a prisoner: but Thou didst save me from the distress of my soul.

Now, O Master, may Thy hand cover me and let Thy mercy come unto me, for my soul is humbled and sorely afflicted in its going down, from the travail and corruption of my body: that the crafty adversary may not meet with me in darkness, for my sins have been both known and unknown in this life; be Thou merciful to me, O Master, and let not my soul behold the dark glance of the evil spirits:

But may Thy holy angels receive from Thee their bright and glorious light: grant that I may stand before Thy judgment seat. When Thou judgest me, may not the hand of the prince of this world receive me, to cast me into the depths of hell; but stand by me, be my Saviour and my protector: for my bodily sufferings are a joy to Thy servants.

Pity me, O Lord, who have defiled myself with the sins of this life, my soul, and cleanse it through confession and repentance. For Thou art blessed unto ages of ages, Amen.
