By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept, remembering Zion.

We hung our instruments upon the willows in the midst of them.

For there they that led us captives demanded of us a song; and they that wasted us demanded of us a hymn, saying, Sing to us from the songs of Sion.

д҃. Ка́кѡ воспое́мъ пѣ́снь гдⷭ҇ню на землѝ чꙋжде́й;
How shall we sing the Lord's song on a foreign soil?

If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her dexterity.

If I forget thee, Jerusalem, let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth; if I do not prefer thee above my chief joy.

Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom on the day of Jerusalem, who said, Hie thee, hie thee, even unto its foundations.

O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed, blessed shall he be who repayeth thee as thou hast served us.

Blessed is he who taketh and dasheth thy infants against the rock.
Glory:
Alas for Diodorus, Aggea, and Khazarhi, Ruler.

I will praise thee with all my heart, O Lord; before the angels I will sing to thee, for thou hast heard the words of my mouth.

I will worship at your holy sanctuary and acknowledge your name for your mercy and your truth; for you have exalted your word above every name.

In the day that I call upon thee, quickly hear me; strengthen me with thy might in my soul.

All the kings of the earth shall confess to thee, O Lord, when they hear all the words of thy mouth.

Yea, let them sing in the ways of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord is great.

Though the Lord is exalted, he takes notice of the humble; but from afar he knows the haughty.

Though I walk in the midst of distress, thou wilt sustain me; thou shalt stretch out thy hand against the anger of my foes, and thy right hand shall save me.

The Lord will perfect what concerns me; thy mercy, O Lord, endures forever: do not forsake the works of thine own hands.

At the end of two days, sorrowful and scattered, it is said.

O Lord, thou hast tried me and knowest me; thou hast known my sitting down and mine arising up.

Thou knowest the seat where I sit and the rise when I arise; thou understandest my far-off thoughts.

Thou dost encompass my path and my lying down, and thou art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is no word in my mouth, but, lo, the Lord hath heard it.

Thou hast compassed me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is lofty, and I cannot reach it.

з҃. Ка́мѡ пойдꙋ̀ ѿ д¦а твоегѡ̀; и҆ ѿ лица̀ твоегѡ̀ ка́мѡ бѣжꙋ̀;
Alas, I have departed from Thy presence; and from Thy countenance I have fled.

If I ascend into heaven, thou art there: if I go down to the depths of Sheol, thou art there.

ѳ҃. If I spread my wings at dawn and dwell in the remotest parts of the sea;

‹. Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand uphold me.

And I said: Surely darkness shall weigh upon me; and night shall be a shining time in my ease.

Yea, darkness shall not hide anything from thee; nor shall night be any darker than day: the light is as the darkness unto thee.

For thou hast possessed my kidneys; thou hast covered me in the midst of thy book.

I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are thy works, and my soul knoweth it fully well.

My bone was not hidden from thee, which thou didst make in secret, and my substance in the lowest parts of the earth.

Thy eyes did see my unformed substance, and in Thy book all my days were written; they were fashioned day by day, and not one of them was missing.

How greatly also were my friends esteemed, O Lord, how mighty are their strengths!

If I count them, they shall be more numerous than the sand; having risen, I am still with thee.

Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God; depart from me, ye men of blood.

For they shall speak against thee in vain, and thy enemies shall take thy city in vain.

к҃а. Не ненави́дѧщыѧ ли тѧ̀, гдⷭ҇и, возненави́дѣхъ, и҆ ѡ҆ вразѣ́хъ твои́хъ и҆ста́ѧхъ;
Do not I hate them, O Lord, who hate thee? And are not my soul grieved for the enemies of thee?

I hated them with perfect hatred; they became my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts.

And see if there be any way of wickedness in me, and lead me in the eternal way.

At the end, after two days, Lord.

A psalm for the end, by David.

Deliver me, O Lord, from a wicked man; preserve me from a man of violence.

Which devise wickedness in their hearts all day long; they gather themselves together for battle.

They have sharpened their tongues like a venomous snake; the poison of asps is under their lips. Selah.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hand of the sinner; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to trip my feet.
7. And having placed us on the path of temptation.
I said to the Lord: Thou art my God; incline thine ear to the voice of my supplication, O Lord.

O Lord, Lord, the power of my salvation, thou hast overshadowed my head in the day of battle.

O Lord, do not abandon me, God, according to the desires of my sinners' heart: they have thought upon me, let not those who seek to rise against me prevail.

‹. As for the head of those who surround me, let the evil of their own lips fall upon them.

Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire; into depths of distress, that they rise not up again.

Let not a man of deceitful tongue be established on the earth; evil shall pursue the violent man to his ruin.

I know that the Lord will vindicate the cause of the poor and the right of the needy.

Surely the righteous shall confess thy name, and the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
Glory:
