The Gospel according to Luke, Chapter 1 began.
In the days of His glory, Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and among His disciples stood one, who said to them: Peace be with you. Having been filled with fear, they saw His spirit. And He said to them: Why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones as ye see me have. Then He showed them his hands and his feet. Nevertheless, because of their unbelief, rejoicing and wonderment, He said to them: Have ye here any thing to eat? And they gave Him part of a broiled fish and honeycomb. Taking it, He stood among them. He said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written concerning me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms. Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. And He said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead on the third day, and to go about making known repentance and remission of sins in his name unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Ye are witnesses of these things. And lo, I send forth the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem until ye be endued with power from on high.
And having led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them. And it came to pass when He had blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. They fell down on their faces, and worshipped Him; and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
