Ununderstanding reason, when enlightened by the Holy Spirit,
was in drunkenness with the holy fathers, a defender of confession of the Orthodox faith:
for even as the fathers confessed equally, being present and co-reigning,
thou didst also reveal the madness.

Therefore, O Faithful, ye have been taught to sing to Thee:

Rejoice, O Pillar of Great Piety:

By the power given Thee from on high, Thou didst weep all tears from Thy face for those fiercely suffering, O Saviour most merciful: for Thou didst pity the hungry, feeding them as a nourishing governor in the midst of the stormy seas; Thou didst show Thyself an unailing healer to the sick, and helper to all, crying out to God: Glory.

O all-holy Nicholas, ever-merciful Lord, warm our advocate and helper everywhere in our sorrows! Help me, the sinful and wearied one, in this present life; pray to the Lord God that He grant me forgiveness of all my sins, both from my youth until now, in all my deeds, words, thoughts, and every feeling: and at the departure of my soul, help me with thy intercession. Pray to the Lord God for all creatures, that they may deliver me from aerial torment and eternal suffering; so that I may always glorify the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

Most merciful Father Nicholas, shepherd and teacher of all, to whom with faith we come for thy intercession and with fervent prayer invoke thee! Swiftly draw near and deliver the flock of Christ from wolves that destroy it: and guard and preserve every land of Christians from worldly strife, fear, invasion by foreign peoples and mutual wars, from famine, flood, fire, sword and sudden death. Even as thou didst forgive three men sitting in prison and delivered them from the anger of the king and the stroke of his sword: so also forgive me, O my soul, by word and deed in the darkness of sins wherein I am living, and deliver me from the wrath of God and eternal punishment: that through thy intercession and help, by thine own mercy and grace, the peace of Christ may be given to me to live in this present age, and deliver me from the torments of hell, and grant my right hand with all saints to stand before Thee for ever and ever. Amen.
