“Remember us, O Lord, in the favor of Thy people, visit us with Thy salvation, see us in the goodness of Thy chosen ones, rejoice in the gladness of Thy tongue, rejoice in Thy inheritance. We have sinned with our fathers, lawless, untruthful,” and so on (Ps. 106:4-6 et seq.). We must heartily acknowledge our unrighteousness before God, as Daniel the prophet says: “You, O Lord, have righteousness, but we have shame on our faces” (Dan 9:7). For just as our fathers, that is, our ancestors, so we have sinned a lot and are sinning before God, we commit lawlessness and unrighteousness. “For we all sin many times,” says the apostle (James 3:2).

Therefore, all Christians in general must confess their sins before God: “we have sinned with our fathers, we have committed lawlessness and unrighteousness,” and so on, and pray to Him to remember us according to mercy, love for mankind and good will, which He promised to show to His people for the sake of the blessed seed of that which is Jesus Christ, so that He would visit us with His salvation for the sake of the same blessed seed, so that we may be worthy to “see the prosperity of His elect, like the sun, shining in His kingdom (Matthew 13:43), to “rejoice in the joy of His holy people,” to “boast in His inheritance” (Ps. 106:5), and to enjoy those blessings which “eye has not seen, ear has not heard, and has not entered into the heart of man,” (1 Cor. 2:9) for those who love Him (1 Cor. 2:9). It is fitting for us to always remember such glory of God’s chosen ones. Raise our desires, mind, heart and sighs to it, while we wander in this vale of tears, and with faith earnestly pray to the Heavenly Father: “Remember us, Lord, with favor,” and so on. For no matter how much you live in this miserable world, you need to move from here to the next world.

No matter how much wealth you collect, you should certainly leave it in this world. No matter how much you rejoice in the honor and glory of this world, you must close yourself in a small and dark coffin and return from earth to earth (see Gen. 3:19). And what is the use of the wealth, honor and glory of this world when we are deprived of that honor, glory and wealth that is prepared for God’s elect in heaven? What is the use of the gaiety and luxury of this world, when the body will be devoured by worms, and the soul will be betrayed to ridicule and desecration by demons? It is a bad and disastrous change - from imaginary glory and honor to true and eternal reproach and reproach, from temporary and imaginary voluptuousness to eternal and true torment. Such a most unfortunate change will meet a voluptuous, glory-loving and money-loving soul.

On the contrary, it is a very blessed and all-desirable change - from small and temporary sorrow (from small, I say, for whatever sorrow there may be in this world, and no matter how long-lasting it may be, it is nothing against future and eternal sorrow), to move into the eternal joy and joy of God's chosen ones, and to see Christ face to face, like the sun shining and enlightening His chosen ones. Prosperous are those who are honored with a portion of that blessed one, and it is impossible not only to describe their well-being in words, but also to understand it mentally, although they are trampled under foot in this world like obscene rubbish. On the contrary, the poor and most damned are those who, for the sake of their whims, are deprived of their lot, even if they were revered and worshiped as gods in this century. Therefore, it is always worthy to sigh with faith to the Father of bounties and all joy, God: “Remember us, Lord!” - and so on. But first, turn away from the sins and vanity of this world, and turn to Him with all your heart, and so, recognizing your untruth and error, repent and pray.
