Lord, hear my prayer, and incline thine ear to the voice of my supplication; hear me in truth: hear me in thy righteousness.

For thou hast driven away my soul; it hath been humbled, and my life is laid low. Thou hast set me in darkness, as those that are dead for ever.

My spirit within me doth faint; my heart is troubled. I have remembered the days of old; I have meditated on thy works; I have pondered the deeds of thine hands.

I have stretched out my hands to thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a dry land. Quickly hear me, Lord; let my spirit not be taken away: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like them that go down into the pit.

Let morning come, and bring me salvation; for in the night I will cry out before thee, and thou wilt hear me.

Tell me, O Lord, where is my way? Where shall I go? For to thee have I lifted up my soul.

Change me from the evil of men, for I have taken refuge in thee. Teach me thy statutes; for thou art my God.

Thy good pleasure hath established me on a firm foundation. In thy name, O Lord, live thou and make my soul live by thy righteousness: with thy mercy thou hast satisfied my desire, and thou hast destroyed all that troubleth my soul. For I am thy servant.

From on high Thou dost look down, O Comforter, Thou hast received our supplications; Thou visitest us, O Blessed Jesus Christ, with Thy holy forgiveness, merciful Lord, by the prayers of Theotokos, grant us a great mercy upon our souls.

To the Most Pure Lady, let us now draw near with humility and contrition of heart, falling down before Thee in confession from the depths of our soul: Mistress, help us; having mercy on Thy servant, hasten to save us, for we are perishing from the multitude of transgressions. Thou art our only hope.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O Guardian Angel, my faithful Theotokos, keep my life under the protection of Jesus Christ, strengthen my soul in the true way, and make it more ardent with love for Him, that by thee we may be directed, receiving from Jesus Christ great mercy.

And now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

We shall never be silent, O Power of the Theotokos, speaking Thy mighty words as unworthy ones: for if Thou hadst not stood before us in prayer, who would have delivered us from such great calamities; and who would have preserved us to this day in freedom? We will not forsake Thee, O Lady, for Thou dost ever save Thy servants from all bitter adversities.

O Lord, have mercy on me, according to the great mercy of Thine and the multitude of Thy mercies, cleanse my iniquity. More than that, wash away from me my iniquity, and from my sin cleanse me. For I know my iniquity, and my sin is before me, hidden. I have sinned against Thee alone, and deceitfully before Thee I have wrought, that Thou mightest be justified in Thy words, and overcome when Thou judgest Me. Lo, in my iniquities was I conceived, and in sin did my mother bear me. Lo, Thou hast loved truth, O God, the hidden and secret wisdom of Thine. Thou hast anointed me with oil of gladness before Thee. Wash me clean from my sins: cleanse me more than snow. Let Thy ears give joy to my heart; let the bones of the humble rejoice. Turn away Thy face from my sin, and all my iniquities wash out. Make my heart pure within me, O Lord, and renew my spirit in the morning. Do not cast me off from Thy face, nor take Thy Holy Spirit from me. Give me joy in Thy salvation, and establish me in a house of prayer. Teach me the way of Thy commandments, that the ungodly may be turned to Thee. Deliver me from blood, O Lord, the blood of Thy salvation; my tongue shall proclaim Thy righteousness. Thou hast anointed my lips, O Lord, and my mouth shall declare Thy praise. Lo, Thou hast heard my voice, and my supplications shall make known Thy glory. For though I would have given Thee a sacrifice, Thou didst not desire it: a burnt offering is the contrite spirit; a broken and contrite heart, God will not despise. Blessed are the holy, by Thy good pleasure, and let them be built up the walls of Jerusalem. Then wilt Thou give me joy in Thy righteousness, an offering and a sacrifice wholly consumed: then shall they lay upon Thine altar young bullocks.

Psalm 1 ( Psalm 2 in Church Slavonic)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly,
neither standeth in the way of sinners,
ni walketh in the sinne of heretic.
But hath pleasure in the law of God, and in his law doth meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season;
his leaf also shall not wither;
and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Yirmos: As thou wast journeying on foot through the wilderness, O Jesus Christ,
on the deep with thy feet,
thou didst drive Pharaoh, seeing him overwhelmed by the flood,
and didst take to thee the victorious song, crying out.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

Now I, the sinful and burdened, have approached Thee, O Master and God Mine: I dare not lift up mine eyes to heaven, but pray, saying: Give me, O Lord, compunction of heart, that I may weep over my bitter deeds.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me.

Alas for me, sinful! More than all men I am reproached: there is no repentance in me: give me, O Lord, tears that I may weep over my deeds bitter.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me.

Wretched man, hast thou lost thy reason in sloth? Consider thine own life, and turn unto the Lord God, and weep for thy deeds, which are bitter.

Response: The Theotokos, save us.

Refrain: Having lifted up Thy Holy Hands, save us.

Refrain: Having ascended into heaven, save us, O Theotokos.

Yirmos: There is none holy / As thou, O Lord my God, / Exalt the horn of thy faithful ones near thee, / And strengthen us upon the stones / Confessing thy will.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

When the thrones are set for judgment fearful, then shall all men's deeds be openly judged: woe there to the sinful, sent in torment: and thou knowing, O my soul, shalt repent of thy hearing of thy works.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

First, the penitent shall rejoice, and the sinners shall weep: then none shall be able to help us, but our works shall judge us. Therefore before the end let us repent of the hearing of thy deeds.

Response: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

Alas for me, a great sinner! Whose deeds and thoughts have been defiled, I have no drops of tears from hardness of heart: now arise from the earth, O my soul, and repent of the hearing of thy deeds.

Refrain: Having lifted up the Theotokos, save us.

All crieth, O Lord, Thy servant, and teacheth us good; but I, sinful, ever flee from good: but thou, O Merciful, forgive me, that I may confess the hearing of my deeds.

Refrain: Having lifted up Thee, O Theotokos, save us.

Venerable is the intercession of the Christians, unblameworthy, and efficacious in prayer to the Creator; do not despise the voices of the sinful in their supplications, but hasten for our help, O Faithful, calling upon Thee: Hasten to our prayers, and strive in supplication, being a perpetual intercessor before Thy Theotokos, who beseecheth Thee.

Lord: Stretch out Thy hands, by which Thou didst receive all creatures at the hands of the Creator, for the multitude of Thy goodness: do not forsake us always those who hope in Thee, with a watchful prayer and an unceasing mercy, grant to our souls Thy mercy, ever flowing: for we, sinners, beseech Thee as our advocate for those who are in distress and sorrow. But since Thou art full of mercy, hasten to our prayers, and strive to intercede on behalf of those who call upon Thee, O Theotokos, most pure.

Intercede for us to Christ our God.

Veneration be unto thee, O angel of the Presence!

Mercy hath appeared to me, O holy angel of the Lord, my guardian, and suffer not from me the foulness, but enlighten me with an inviolable light, and make me worthy of the heavenly worship.

Lord: O Soul of mine, wounded by many spiritual deceptions, thou Venerable Intercessor, of unspeakable glory worthy, and singer with the choirs of the bodiless powers of thy divine hosts, have mercy on me and keep me, and enlighten my thoughts with goodly desires, that by thy glory I may be enriched, and cast down those who deceive me with vain thoughts, and make me worthy of the heavenly worship.

Yirmos: From the flames of the holy rose thou didst quench thee, / and by the just sacrifice thou didst consume with water: / for thou dost create all things, according to thy will, / and exalt us in all ages.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

As I have no pleasure in sighing, when I think of death; for I saw lying in the grave my brother, without glory and unknown: what shall I hope for; and on what shall I rely? Only let me before the end obtain repentance.

Refrain: Have mercy on me, O Lord, have mercy on me.

As I have no pleasure in sighing, when I think of death; for I saw lying in the grave my brother, without glory and without form: what shall I hope for; and on what shall I rely? Only let me before the end obtain forgiveness.

I believe, because Thou art come to judge the living and the dead, and all shall stand in their own rank, the old and the young, the princes and the rulers, the maidens and the virgins: where I shall find myself, for this sake I cry: grant me repentance before death.

Praying to Thee, O Theotokos, receive my unworthy prayer, and preserve me from presumptuous death, and grant me repentance before the end.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord God, Thou Who Healest by Thy Passions My Sufferings and Hast Cured Me by Thy Names, grant me, O many times forgiven of Thee, tears of compunction, that they may dissolve my body from the infection of the life-giving Body Thine; and let my soul be refreshed with Thy precious Blood, which Thou didst shed for me in the bitterness of my adversary: raise up mine heart to Thee, which hath sunk low, and lift me out of the pit of destruction, since I have no repentance, no compunction, no tears of the Comforter, which would lift up children unto their inheritance. I darkened myself with worldly passions; I could not look to Thee in sickness, nor be warmed by Thy tears of love. But Thou, O Lord, art hidden treasure of goodness, grant me complete repentance and a loving heart in seeking Thine: grant me Thy grace, and renew within me the eyes of Thy image.

I left Thee, but didst not leave me; go forth to seek my salvation: raise me up for Thy portion, and join me with the chosen flock of Thy fold: bring me up with them from the weakness of Thy divine mysteries, by thy most pure prayers, and all Thy saints. Amen.

Receive, all-holy Theotokos, the blessed gifts, O Lady, the honors due to thee, from thy unworthy servants, from all chosen peoples, from all heavenly and earthly creatures. For thou hast given us strength with thee, and by thee we have known the light of thy Son's presence, and we have partaken of His holy body and precious blood. Therefore, blessed art thou among women, O Ever-Blessed, brighter than cherubim and more glorious beyond comparison than seraphim. And now, O All-Praised Theotokos, do not cease to pray for thy unworthy servants, that we may be delivered from every counsel of the wicked one and preserved whole and blameless from all the snares of the evil spirit. But even unto the end, keep us under thy unsullied prayers: for by thy intercession and help, we are saved in faith, glory, praise, and adoration to the One God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Venerable Angel, my Guardian, pray to God for me.

Mighty prayer to the guardian angel:

O Holy Theotokos, to thee I flee in my distress; O Guardian of mine, given to me for the keeping of my soul and body from the stain of original sin through holy Baptism. For by my own slothfulness and my own tongue, I have provoked thy precious light with my customary offenses: lies, slanders, envy, accusations, contempt, disobedience, hatred of brothers, gluttony, avarice, drunkenness, much speaking, vain thoughts, proud habit, and wanton indulgence. I beseech thee to cleanse me from all fleshly desires. For even the mindless brute does not act according to its own will! Mayst thou look upon me with thine eyes of mercy, O Holy Theotokos, entwining me in thy holy prayers; that I may be able to obtain forgiveness through my bitter and vain and deceitful deeds, in which I fall daily and nightly, at every hour. Therefore, I pray to thee, Guardian of mine, O Holy One, have mercy on this sinful and unworthy servant [thy handmaid], be my helper and protector against the foe of my salvation by thy holy prayers and the partaking with all the saints always, now and forevermore. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. [v.]

Most glorious Cherubim, and most renowned Seraphim, we magnify thy unflappable words of God, O Theotokos, that gave birth without corruption.

Glory to Thee, O Father, and to Thy Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]

O Lord Jesus Christ, our God, hear our prayer for Thy merciful intercession, O Venerable and Theotokos-bearers, and all the saints, have mercy upon us.

Amen.
