10. Troparia of the twelve feasts (in the order of the church year, beginning in September)
To pray to God means to glorify, thank and ask Him for your needs.
God is our Creator and Father. He cares about us all more than any child-loving father and gives us all the blessings in life. In Him we live, move and exist; that is why we must pray to Him.
We sometimes pray internally - with our mind and heart; but since each of us consists of soul and body, we mostly accompany prayer with some visible signs and bodily actions: the sign of the cross, bowing to the waist, and sometimes, for the strongest expression of our reverent feelings for God and deep humility before Him, we kneel and bow to the ground.
One should pray at all times, without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17) [Hereinafter, references to the relevant passages of the Holy Bible are given in the modern generally accepted abbreviation. Here: 1 Thessalonians, chapter 5, verse 17].
We must pray: in the morning, upon awakening from sleep, to thank God for keeping us through the night and asking for His blessing on the coming day. When starting a business, to ask for God's help. At the end of the case, to thank God for help and success in the case. Before lunch, so that God will bless us with food for health. After lunch to give thanks to God who feeds us. In the evening, before going to bed, to thank God for the day and ask for His protection in the night.
For all these cases, the Orthodox Church provides special prayers.
Everywhere; but God’s church serves as a special place of prayer for us, which we must visit at the established times of the Divine service, and especially on holidays, Sundays and fasts.
In addition to God, we honor and call in prayer the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, angels and all holy people.
Not always. If we pray absent-mindedly, without love and fear of God, we say prayers only with our tongues, and at the same time turn our minds and hearts to something extraneous, then such prayer not only does not attract God’s mercy to us, but, on the contrary, angers God.
An image or images of the Lord God Jesus Christ, His Most Pure Mother, the Virgin Mary, holy angels and holy men.
Such a person does not want to confess his faith in God; Jesus Christ Himself will be ashamed of him at His Last Judgment (Mark 8:38)
To make the sign of the cross, we put the first three fingers of the right hand - thumb, index and middle - together; the last two fingers, the ring and little fingers, bend towards the palm. We place the fingers folded in this way on the forehead, on the stomach, on the right and left shoulder.
By putting the first three fingers together we express the belief that God is one in essence, but three in persons. The two bent fingers show our faith that in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, there are two natures, Divine and human. By depicting a cross on ourselves with folded fingers, we show that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ crucified on the Cross.
In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
In Russian: In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
In the name - in honor, in glory. Amen - truly, truly.
Who is meant by the words: Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit?
Three faces of the Holy Trinity. We believe that God is one, but He has three persons: the 1st person of the Holy Trinity is God the Father, the 2nd person is God the Son, the 3rd person is God the Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Holy Trinity have the same power, honor and worship.
Why is it said here: in the name, and not in the names?
As a sign that God, although He has three persons, is essentially only one.
Why was the word added: Amen?
As a sign that everything we read in prayer is true.
When should this prayer be said?
Before every good deed, because we must do everything in honor and glory of the three persons of the Holy Trinity.
God, be merciful to me, a sinner
In Russian: Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner.
Be - be.
Whose prayer is this?
This is the prayer of a publican (tax collector), who repented of his sins and received forgiveness, as can be seen from the parable of the publican and the Pharisee (Luke 18:10-14).
What do we ask of God in this prayer?
We ask that God be merciful to us sinners, that is, forgive us our sins and not punish us for them.
When should we say this prayer?
We need to say it as often as we often sin. As soon as we sin, we must immediately repent of our sin before God and say this prayer.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, prayers for the sake of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us. Amen.
In Russian: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all the saints, have mercy on us (show mercy to us). Amen.
For the sake of - for, by. For prayers - for prayers.
Who is this prayer for?
To Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Who is Jesus Christ, the Son of God?
Second Person of the Holy Trinity, Our Savior.
What do we ask of the Lord in this prayer?
We ask that God, through the prayers of the saints, have mercy on us, i.e. was merciful to us and forgave our sins.
Who is the Most Pure Mother of the Lord?
The Most Holy Virgin Mary, for the special holiness of her life, was chosen to be the Mother of the Son of God, when He, who lives forever as God, wanted to appear on earth as a man for the salvation of people.
Who are the saints?
Saints are people who lived piously on earth and are now in heaven with God and praying to Him for us. Such are, for example, prophets, apostles, saints, martyrs and others. Through their prayers and especially through the prayers of the Blessed Virgin Mary, God has mercy on us.
When is this prayer said?
This prayer, like the prayer of the publican, should be in the mind and heart of a Christian as often as possible, because, constantly sinning before God, they must constantly turn to Him asking for mercy.
Note. This prayer is said in short: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us, or even shorter: Lord, have mercy! In the latest abbreviated version, it is pronounced in church, during worship, often up to 40 times continuously.
Glory to Thee, our God, glory to Thee.
In Russian: Glory to Thee, our God. Glory to You.
What kind of prayer is this?
Praise. With it we express reverence for God as an all-perfect being, and begin a series of other prayers.
Note. This prayer is said in short: Glory to God. In this abbreviated form, we say a prayer when we finish some good deed, for example, teaching, work; when we receive any good news, etc.
Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of truth, Who is everywhere and fulfills everything, Treasure of good things and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filthiness, and save us, O Good One, our souls.
In Russian: Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Receptacle of all good and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all impurity, and save, O Merciful One, our souls.
Soul - spirit. To the soul of truth is the spirit of truth. Izhe - which. Sy - existing, abiding. Fulfill everything - fill everything. Treasure is a repository of something, a source. Good - good. Dwell in us - dwell in us. Defilement is a sin.
Who is this prayer for?
To the 3rd person of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit.
Where did this prayer come from?
This prayer is taken from church songs on the feast of Pentecost (Trinity Day), on which we remember the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles.
How did the descent of the Holy Spirit take place on the apostles?
The apostles, disciples of Jesus Christ, loved their Teacher with all their hearts, and therefore they were greatly saddened when they heard from Him that He should be separated from them (apparently). To console them, the Lord promised to send them the Holy Spirit.
Indeed, on the 10th day after His Ascension into heaven, when the apostles were in the same upper room with other believers, the Lord sent them the Holy Spirit. At about 9 o'clock in the morning (according to our account), suddenly a strong noise came from the sky and filled the upper room in which they were. The Holy Spirit descended on them in the form of tongues of fire, and the apostles suddenly changed in their souls.
Everything that seemed unclear and dark to them from the teachings of Christ, everything became clear and understandable; all the bewilderment and unclean feelings that might have been in them disappeared. They felt joy and consolation. Enlightened by the Holy Spirit, they began to glorify the greatness of God in different languages, which they did not know before, and to preach the teachings of Christ to all nations.
What do we ask of the Holy Spirit in the prayer: King of Heaven?
We ask that He enter into us, cleanse us from all sins and through this deliver us from eternal punishment for sins.
Who is called in this prayer the King of Heaven, the Comforter, the Spirit of truth?
God the Holy Spirit.
Why is He called the King?
Because He, like God the Father and God the Son, reigns over the whole world, over the entire universe and rules it.
Why is the Holy Spirit called the King of Heaven?
Because He lives in heaven. Although He is everywhere, His presence in heaven is special, glorious.
Why is He called the Comforter?
Because He, as He consoled the apostles in His time, so He consoles us in our sorrows and misfortunes.
Why is He called the Spirit of truth?
Because He guides people into all truth, teaches goodness and does not tolerate lies.
What do the words mean: Like everyone else?
These words mean that the Holy Spirit is everywhere; there is no place where He is not.
What do the words mean: and do everything?
They mean that the Holy Spirit, filling everything with Himself, gives us everything that we lack for life on earth and for eternal life in heaven.
What do the words mean: Treasure of the good?
These words mean that God the Holy Spirit is a treasury or source of good.
What do the words mean: and life to the Giver?
They mean that the Holy Spirit gives life to all creatures and especially spiritual life to people; that is, it helps people to do good and live holy lives.
What do we ask of the Holy Spirit with the words: and save, O Blessed One, our souls?
We ask that the Holy Spirit will deliver us from eternal punishment for sins and make us worthy of the Kingdom of Heaven.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us.
(Read three times, with the sign of the cross and bow from the waist)
In Russian: Holy God, Holy Almighty, Holy Immortal, be merciful to us.
Who is this prayer for?
This prayer is to the three persons of the Holy Trinity. By the words: Holy God, God the Father is meant; under the words: Holy Mighty - God the Son; under the words: Holy Immortal - God the Holy Spirit.
Why is the Son of God called mighty or strong?
Because by His resurrection He destroyed hell and defeated the devil.
Why is the Holy Spirit called immortal?
Because He Himself is eternal, like God, giving life to all creatures and especially spiritual, virtuous life and immortality to people.
To whom do the last words of the prayer apply: have mercy on us?
To all three persons of the Holy Trinity, because all three persons of the Holy Trinity forgive our sins and thus have mercy on us.
What is this prayer called?
Trisagion. It is also called the angel's song.
Why is this prayer called the Trisagion?
Because the word Holy is repeated three times.
Why is this prayer called an angel's song?
Because it was received from heaven from the angels themselves, who sing it before the throne of God.
When and how was this song received from heaven?
In the 5th century, during the life of the pious Tsar Theodosius II and Patriarch Proclus, a terrible earthquake occurred in Greece, causing entire villages to fall into the ground. People lived in the streets and squares out of fear. A prayer was held in the field to stop the earthquake. During the prayer service, a boy was raised into heaven from among the people by an invisible hand. Lowered again to the ground, he told the surprised people that he heard angels in heaven glorifying God with the words: Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal.
The people, repeating these words, added to them: have mercy on us. After this the earthquake stopped.
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
In Russian: Praise be to the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and to endless ages. Amen.
Always - always. Century - century. Forever and ever - endlessly.
Who is this prayer for?
This prayer of praise is addressed to all three persons of the Holy Trinity.
Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.
In Russian: Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Lord, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, come and heal our weakness - for Your glory.
Trinity – three faces of the Godhead. Lord, Master - king, lord over the whole world. Lawlessness is a violation of the law, a sin. Heal - make whole what is damaged, heal. Infirmities - weaknesses, sins.
Who is this prayer for?
To the three faces of the Holy Trinity.
What do we ask in this prayer from the Holy Trinity?
First, from the Holy Trinity together, and then from each person of the Holy Trinity separately, we ask for one thing, although in different expressions: deliverance from sins.
What words mean the three persons of the Holy Trinity together and what words mean the persons of the Holy Trinity separately?
By the words: The Most Holy Trinity we mean the persons of the Holy Trinity together, Whom we ask to have mercy on us; by the word: Lord, we mean the first person of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, whom we ask to cleanse our sins; by the word: Master means the second person of the Holy Trinity, God the Son, whom we ask to forgive our iniquities, i.e. sins; by the word: Holy we mean the third person of the Holy Trinity - God the Holy Spirit, whom we ask to come closer to us and heal our spiritual infirmities. The last words of the prayer: for Thy name's sake show that we ask God for forgiveness of sins not according to our merits, but for the glorification of the Most Holy Trinity.
Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
In Russian: Our Father who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts (sins), as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
What is this prayer called?
The Lord's Prayer.
Why is it called the Lord's Prayer?
Because it was given to the apostles, and through them to all of us, by our Lord Jesus Christ Himself (Matthew 6:9-13).
What needs to be said about the merits of this prayer?
It is the most important prayer; That is why it is often read in church during services.
How many parts is the Lord's Prayer divided into?
Into nine parts: invocation, seven petitions and doxology.
How is the invocation read?
Our Father, who art in heaven.
Father - father. Izhe - which. Whoever you are in heaven - who is in heaven, heavenly.
Who is meant here by the word Father?
Our God.
Why does the Lord command us to call on God under the name of the Father?
So that we stand before Him when we pray, not only with fear, as slaves stand before their masters, but also with love and devotion, like children before their father, revealing all their needs to Him with all sincerity and simplicity of heart.
If someone prays alone, do the words change: Our Father?
And in this case, you still need to say: Our Father, because God is the Father common to all of us, and we are brothers among ourselves; because what we ask for ourselves in prayer, we must ask others too.
What do the words show: Who art thou in heaven?
These words show that the person praying makes requests not to the earthly father, who is often unable to help his son, but to the Father living in heaven, Who can do everything for us and is ready to do everything; therefore, praying to the Heavenly Father, we must leave everything earthly and lift up our mind and heart to God.
How is the first petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
Hallowed be Thy name.
Yes - let it be. Holy - glorified.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask God for help so that we can glorify God with words, deeds, and all our holy lives.
How is the second petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
Thy kingdom come.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask that God reign in us, that is, control our spiritual powers and instill in us how to live in order to receive the Kingdom of Heaven. With these words we also ask for the Kingdom of Heaven, that is, the revelation of the perfect bliss of believers.
What is the kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is the kingdom of Christian love and grace-filled peace of the soul. Where there is love and harmony between Christians and there is no enmity, there is the kingdom of God; but the kingdom of God will fully open after the second coming of the Son of God to earth.
How is the third petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
Thy will be done as it is in heaven and on earth.
Yako - how.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask God to help us fulfill His holy will as willingly and diligently as angels and holy people do it in heaven - always and perfectly in everything.
With these same words, we show complete submission to God, as the Father, who knows better than us which of us needs and benefits for earthly and eternal life.
How is the fourth petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
Give us this day our daily bread.
Daily - enough for a day. Give it - give it. Today - to this day.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask God to give us everything we need in life for body and soul.
What is necessary for body and soul?
The body needs: food, clothing and shelter. The soul needs: holy communion (John 6:55) and other sacraments and the word of God (Matthew 4:4).
Just as a body, if it is deprived of its food, will die, that is, it will lose its soul and be destroyed, so the soul, if it does not feed on its own food, will die, that is, it will be deprived of eternal bliss.
Why is it commanded to ask for daily bread only for one day?
So that we do not worry too much about future days; but we would remember that God Himself cares for us more than we do, and we would firmly trust in Him (Matthew 6:25-33).
How is the fifth petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
And forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors.
Leave - forgive. Debts are sins. Like - just like.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask that God forgive us our sins, just as we forgive those who have offended us or those who have sinned against us.
Why are sins called debts?
Because everything we have is not ours, but God’s, and we must use everything according to the will of God; if we don’t do this, if we sin, then we remain, as it were, in debt to God.
Who are our debtors?
People who insult us and do us harm. They are called our debtors because they should live with us, just as we do with them, in peace and harmony, but they do not.
Will God forgive us our sins if we ourselves do not forgive others?
In this case, God will not forgive us our sins. Therefore, when we ask God for forgiveness of our sins, when we pray to Him, we should not have enmity with anyone, but have peace and love with everyone (Matt. 5:23-24, 6:14-15).
How is the sixth petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
And do not lead us into temptation.
Temptation is circumstances under which one can deviate towards sin.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask God to remove us from such incidents in life that lead us to sin.
How is the seventh petition of the Lord's Prayer read?
But deliver us from evil.
What do we ask of God with these words?
We ask that God deliver us from all misfortunes and sorrows, and especially from the cunning devil, who constantly tempts us to evil (1 Pet. 5:8).
How is the doxology of the Lord's Prayer read?
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Why is praise added to prayer?
So that during prayer we not only ask God for mercy, but at the same time glorify Him as our Creator, firmly hoping that He is always able and ready to fulfill our request; as a sign of which we add to the doxology the word: Amen. (see commentary by Priest K. Parkhomenko)
How are the above prayers usually called: Glory to Thee, God... Heavenly King... Holy God... Glory to the Father... Holy Trinity... Our Father...?
Beginning or initial, because almost all church services begin with them; With them we begin a series of home morning and evening prayers.
In the Church Slavonic language there is no sound “ё”, so you should read “thy”, not “thy”, “we call”, not “we call.” etc.
Come, let us worship the King our God.
Come, let us worship and fall down before Christ, our King God.
Come, let us bow and fall down to Christ Himself, the King and our God.
In Russian: Come, let us worship the Tsar, our God.
Come, let us bow down and cast ourselves to the ground before Christ the King, our God.
Come, let us bow down and cast ourselves to the ground before Christ Himself, our King and God.
Tsarevi - to the king. Let's fall - we'll throw ourselves on the ground.
Who is this prayer for?
This prayer is to Jesus Christ.
What does this prayer say?
In it we invite all our physical and mental strength, and we invite other believers to worship Jesus Christ, our King and God.

For You are my Creator and the Provider and Giver of all good, in You is all my hope, and I send glory to You, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Who is this prayer for?
This prayer is to the Most Holy Theotokos.
Where did this prayer come from?
The words: Rejoice, full of grace, the Lord is with you, blessed are you among women, taken from the greeting of the Archangel Gabriel when he announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary the birth from Her according to the flesh of the Son of God (Luke 1:28); the words: Blessed is the Fruit of Your womb, taken from the greeting of the righteous Elizabeth, when the Holy Virgin Mary, after the Annunciation, wished to visit her (Luke 1:42). The remaining words are taken from the gospel of the angels to the shepherds: For today is a Savior born to you (Luke 2:11).
What do the words mean: Blessed are You among women?
These words mean that the Most Holy Virgin Mary, as the Mother of God, is glorified more than all other women (Luke 1:42. Ps. 44:18)
Who is the Fruit of the Virgin Mary's womb?
The fruit of Her womb is the Son of God Jesus Christ.
It is worthy to eat as you truly bless Theotokos, Ever-Blessed and Most Immaculate and Mother of our God. We magnify Thee, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison, the Seraphim, without the corruption of God, who gave birth to the Word, the real Mother of God.
In Russian

Who is God the Word?
God the Word is the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
Why is the Son of God called the Word?
The Son of God is called the Word (John 1:14) because, when He lived in the flesh on earth, He revealed, that is, showed us the invisible God the Father, just as our word reveals or shows the thought in our soul.
Note: There is a short prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary that we should say as often as possible. This prayer: Most Holy Theotokos, save us!
Angel of God, my holy guardian, save me from every temptation of the enemy, so that in no sin I anger my God, and pray for me to the Lord, may he strengthen me in the passion Hers, and she is worthy to show me, a slave, her goodness. Amen.

Note: Before teaching, instead of this prayer, you can say the prayer: To the King of Heaven.

Eternal God and King of every creature, who has made me worthy even at this hour, forgive me the sins I have committed on this day in deed, word and thought, and cleanse, O Lord, my humble soul soul from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit. And grant me, Lord, in the night of this dream to pass away in peace, so that, rising from my humble bed, I will please Your most holy name, all the days of my life, and the enemies who fight me carnal and incorporeal. And deliver me, Lord, from vain thoughts that defile me, and from evil lusts. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. Amen.
In Russian
Eternal God and King of all creatures, who has deigned me to live until this hour! Forgive me the sins that I have committed this day in deed, word and thought, and cleanse, Lord, my poor soul from all impurity of body and soul. And help me, Lord, to spend the coming night calmly, so that, getting up from my wretched bed, I can do what is pleasing to Your most holy name all the days of my life and defeat the bodily and incorporeal enemies who attack me. And deliver me, Lord, from empty thoughts that defile me and evil passions. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever. Amen.
To reach – to survive. Mi - to me. Even - which. Created - created, made. To pass - to pass, to live. Yes - so that. Humble - humiliated by sins, pitiful. A bed is a place where one goes to sleep, a bed. The belly is life. I'll win, I'll win. Fighters are attackers. Evil lusts are bad habits.

Lord our God, even if I have sinned in these days in word, deed and thought, as He is Good and Lover of Mankind, forgive me. Grant me a peaceful and serene sleep. May God rise again, and may His enemies be scattered, and may those who hate Him flee from His presence. Like smoke disappears, let them disappear; Just as wax melts in the face of fire, so let demons perish on behalf of those who love God, and who make the sign of the cross, and who say in joy: Rejoice, Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross Lord, drive away the demons by the power of our drunken Lord Jesus Christ, who descended into hell and trampled upon the power of the devil, and who gave us His Honest Cross to drive away everyone adversary. O Most Honest and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Virgin Mary and with all the saints forever. Amen.

Because Jesus Christ, being crucified on the Cross, thereby delivered people from eternal death in hell and granted eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.
What do the words mean: he who descended into hell and trampled upon the power of the devil?
These words mean that Jesus Christ after His death and before His resurrection was in hell, from where He brought holy people (for example, Moses) into the Kingdom of Heaven and thereby showed that He trampled, or destroyed, the power of the devil.

I believe, Lord, and I confess that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who came into the world to save sinners, from whom I am the first. I also believe that this is Your most pure Body, and this is Your most honorable Blood. I pray to You: have mercy on me and forgive me my sins, voluntary and involuntary, in word, in deed, in knowledge and ignorance, and grant me to receive communion without condemnation Your most pure Sacraments, for the remission of sins and eternal life. Amen. Thy secret supper this day, O Son of God, receive me as a partaker; I will not tell your enemies a secret, nor give you a kiss like Judas, but like a thief I will confess to you: remember me, O Lord, in your kingdom. May the communion of Your Holy Mysteries be not for judgment or condemnation for me, Lord, but for the healing of soul and body.
In Russian
I believe, Lord, and I testify in the hearing of all that You are truly the Christ, the Son of the Living God, who came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the first (greatest). I also believe that this is Your Most Pure Body, and this is Your Most Priceless Blood. So, I pray to You: have mercy on me and forgive me my sins, voluntary and involuntary, which I have committed in word and deed, consciously or unconsciously, and grant me, without condemnation, to be a partaker of Your Most Pure Mysteries for the remission of sins and for eternal life.
Accept me today, Son of God, as a participant in Your mystical supper, for I will not reveal the secret to Your enemies, and I will not give You such a kiss as Judas; but, like a thief, I call upon You: remember me, Lord, in Your Kingdom.
May the communion of Your Holy Mysteries be not for judgment or condemnation for me, Lord, but for the healing of soul and body.
I confess - I declare, I openly admit, I testify. Oops - so. Supper - dinner. The Last Supper is the supper at which Christ established the sacrament of communion. Participant - participant. I'll tell you - I'll open it. Kissing - kissing.

When should this prayer be said?
It should be said by anyone wishing to receive communion after the priest just before communion.
What sins are called voluntary and involuntary?
Free sins are those committed by us of our own free will, with intention; Involuntary sins are those that we commit without intention, out of weakness and absent-mindedness.
What are the sins of knowledge and ignorance?
Sins of knowledge are those that we commit with the knowledge that we are sinning; and sins of ignorance are those that we commit without realizing that we are sinning.
Who are the enemies of Jesus Christ?
Living wickedly.
What do the words indicate: I will not kiss You like Judas?
These words indicate the treacherous act of Judas; Judas, who promised to sell Jesus Christ to the high priests for money, pointed Him out with a kiss among the apostles to the soldiers and servants of the bishops, and thus betrayed Him to them.
What thief is this prayer talking about?
About that thief who was crucified on the cross next to Christ and who believed in the Lord and said to Him: remember me. Lord, when you come into the kingdom (Luke 23:42).
Now let Thy servant go, O Master, according to Thy word, in peace; For my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the presence of all people, a light for the revelation of the nations, and the glory of Your people Israel.

By verb - by promise. In revelation - in enlightenment. Tongues are pagans.
Who composed this song?
This song was composed by the righteous elder Simeon. It was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he saw Christ. When the forty-day-old baby Jesus was brought to the church, at the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Simeon also came here. Taking the baby Jesus in his arms, he said: Now you are releasing Your servant, O Master, (from this life to the hereafter) (Luke 2:29).

In Russian
Lord and Master of my life! Do not give me the spirit of idleness, despondency, the desire to rule and talk idle talk.
On the contrary, grant me, Your servant, the spirit of chastity, humility, patience and love.
O Lord and King! Let me see my sins and not condemn my brother; for You are glorified to the end of time.
Dejection is carelessness, inaction in the matter of salvation. Lust for control is the desire to be in charge. Idle talk is idle talk. Humility is humility. To her - oh yes!

We pray to God to cleanse us from sins and confirm us in a virtuous life.

What is the Creed?
The Creed is a concise and understandable statement of what Christians should believe.
What does the Creed say?
About God the Father, about the Son of God, about His incarnation, suffering, death, resurrection, ascension into heaven, about His second coming to earth, about the Holy Spirit, about the Church, about the sacraments, about the resurrection of the dead and about the future eternal life.
Who composed the Creed?
Holy Fathers of the First and Second Ecumenical Councils.
What is an Ecumenical Council?
A meeting of pastors and teachers of the Church, if possible, from all over the earth, the universe, to affirm the true Christian teaching.
How many such meetings or councils were there?
Seven. At the first two councils (Nicaea in 325 and Constantinople in 381), the Creed was compiled.
How is this Creed read?
I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to whom all things were.
For our sake, man and our salvation came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became human.
Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried.
And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
And ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of the Father.
And the one who is to come will judge with glory the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end.
And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father, who is with the Father and the Son, we are worshiped and glorified, who spoke the prophets.
Into one Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
I confess one baptism for the remission of sins.
I hope for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the next century. Amen.
In Russian
I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of everything visible and invisible.
(I believe) in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, who before all ages was born of the Father, (as) Light from Light, true God from true God, born, not made, and has one being with the Father, and by whom all things were created.
(I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ) for us people and for our salvation, He came down from heaven, received a body from the Virgin Mary through the influx of the Holy Spirit on Her and became human.
(I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ) who was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried.
(I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ) and rose again on the third day according to the scriptures (of the prophets).
(I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ) and ascended into heaven and sits on the right side of the Father.
(I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ) and who will come again with glory, (to) judge the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
(I believe) also in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, who gives life to all, who proceeds from the Father, is honored and glorified along with the Father and the Son, who spoke through the prophets.
(I believe) in one (one) Holy, Universal and Apostolic Church.
I recognize one baptism for the remission of sins.
I'm waiting for the resurrection of the dead
And the life of the next century.
Amen.
How many parts or members is the Creed divided into?
At twelve.
How is the first clause of the Creed read?
I believe in one God, the Father, Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, visible to all and invisible.
I believe - I am convinced, I undoubtedly admit. In one - in one.
What does this term say?
About the first person of the Holy Trinity, God the Father.
What does it say about Him?
That He is essentially God alone, that He is the Almighty and Creator of everything visible and invisible.
How should we think about God?
God is Spirit, that is, He has neither flesh nor bones; therefore it is impossible for us either to see Him or to imagine Him in our minds as He is in His being.
If God is a Spirit without flesh, then how does the Holy Scripture attribute to Him certain members of the human body, for example, eyes, hands...?
If certain members of the human body are attributed to God in the Holy Scriptures, this is not because He actually has them; but this is how God is spoken about visually, in a human form, so that we can, as much as possible, understand the infinite and incomprehensible properties of God; for example, the eyes of God mean that God sees everything and knows everything; the hands of God mean that God can do anything.
If God is Spirit, then how did He proclaim His will to people?
He made His will known to the people in various ways. To do this, He appeared to them in the form of a man (to Abraham in the form of three wanderers, with Jacob he fought in the form of a stranger), or invisibly - among flames, smoke and trumpet sounds (on Mount Sinai, when he gave the law to the Jewish people), or simply talked invisibly (with Moses), or inspired them in dreams (to Jacob on the way to Mesopotamia). In accordance with these various manifestations of God, God is depicted in different ways on icons.
What other properties of God?
God is eternal, i.e. He always was, is and will be. He is wise, merciful, just; He can do anything. He sees everything, knows everything, in general He has all perfections and has no shortcomings.
Where is God present?
As omnipresent, He is present everywhere. But there is a special glorious presence of Him - in heaven, where the holy angels and holy people are, and there is a special mysterious presence of Him in the holy church, where Christians gather for public prayer.
Why does the Creed not simply say: I believe in God, but also add one thing?
In order to affirm this truth, that God in His essence is only one, and thus to reject the false teaching of the pagans, who recognize many gods.
What truth does the word in the Creed refer to: the Father?
To the truth that in God, who is one in essence, there is more than one person.
How many persons are there in God?
Three persons (or hypostases).
What are these faces?
First person: God the Father; second person: God the Son; third person: God the Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Holy Trinity are in one God; That is why the one God is called threefold in persons or triune God.
Which of these persons of the Holy Trinity is greater and which is less?
None of them are more, and none of them are less. They are all of equal Divine dignity. Just as God the Father is true God, having all Divine properties, for example, eternity, omnipotence, so God the Son (Son of God) is true God with all Divine properties, and the Holy Spirit is also true God with the same Divine properties; however, not three Gods, but one God.
What is the difference between the persons of the Holy Trinity?
God the Father is not born and does not come from another person; The Son of God is eternally born from the Father; The Holy Spirit proceeds eternally from the Father.
How is God the Father depicted in icons?
God the Father is sometimes depicted in angelic form, for example, in the Old Testament Trinity icon. The most famous such image is the icon of the “Trinity”, or “Hospitality of Abraham”, which St. Andrei Rublev wrote in the 15th century.
Sometimes on frescoes and icons we see the image of God the Father in the form of a gray-haired old man (Dan.7:9). However, in modern times such images are considered non-canonical. In 1551, the Council of the Hundred Heads was held in Moscow, at which an instruction was given to icon painters not to depict God the Father. Later, in 1666–1667, the Great Moscow Council agreed with this postulate.
How is God the Son Jesus Christ depicted in icons?
In the same form as it was on earth. Thus, He is depicted as a Baby lying in a manger, sitting in the arms of His Mother, the Most Pure Virgin Mary; depicted as a Teacher teaching the people, blessing children, crucified on the cross, rising from the grave, ascending to heaven, etc.
In what form is the Holy Spirit depicted on icons?
In the form of a dove, because in this form He appeared on the Jordan River during the baptism of Jesus Christ; It is also depicted in the form of tongues of fire, because in this form He descended on the day of Pentecost on the apostles and other believers.
Why is God called Almighty in the Creed?
Because He holds everything in the world by His power and will and controls everything.
Why is God called the Creator?
Because He created the visible and invisible (angelic) worlds.
What is meant by the word: visible?
Everything that can be seen with the eyes, for example, the earth, seas, stars, people, animals, plants, etc.
What is meant by the word: invisible?
By the word invisible we must understand the world, but not the one in which we live, but the spiritual world in which angels live. This world is above us, in heaven.
In what order did God create the world?
First of all, God created angels; then he created an unsettled mass, from which, according to the word of God, within six days all objects visible to us were formed. On the sixth day of creation, God created man and creation ended with him.
Who are angels?
Angels are bodiless spirits, i.e. having neither flesh nor bones. By their nature they are the same as our souls. They have both reason and will; only they are higher and more perfect than us, stronger in strength, know more than us, although much is hidden from them.
Why were angels created?
Angels were created for the same reason that man was created - to praise and glorify their Creator and be eternally blissful. Moreover, they serve our salvation.
How many ranks of angels?
Three. The 1st rank includes: seraphim, cherubim, thrones; to the 2nd rank: domination, strength, power; to the 3rd rank: principles, archangels and angels.
Who is a guardian angel?
An angel who is given to a person from the time of baptism and who remains with him until his death, protecting him from all evil and guiding him to a blessed eternal life.
How are angels depicted on icons?
Angels are depicted on icons as young people with wings. They, as incorporeal creatures, do not have wings, but are depicted with wings as a sign that they very quickly move from one place to another and very quickly fulfill the will of God.
Are all angels good and holy?
No, there are also evil angels, which are called demons.
How are they different from good angels?
By their nature, evil angels are the same as good angels, that is, they are also incorporeal, invisible creatures, having mind, will and strength; only they do not live in heaven, like good angels, but in hell, in the underworld, and try in every possible way to harm the salvation of man.
How can you distance them from yourself?
In the name of God, fasting, prayer and the sign of the cross.
How is the second part of the Creed read?
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten, who was born of the Father before all ages; Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, uncreated, consubstantial with the Father, to whom all things were.
What does this part of the Creed say?
About the second person of the Holy Trinity, Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
What exactly is said about Him?
That He is the only begotten Son of God the Father, from Whom He was born before all ages, that He is Light and true God, that He is begotten and not created, that He is consubstantial with the Father and that by Him all things were created.
Why is Jesus Christ, the Son of God, called Lord in the Creed?
Because He is true God, like God the Father; for the name Lord is the name of God.
What does the name Jesus mean?
Savior.
Who was the first to name the Son of God Jesus?
Archangel Gabriel during the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary (Luke 1:31).
Why is the Son of God called Savior?
Because He came to earth to save us, i.e. save us from our sins and open the doors to the Kingdom of Heaven.
What does the name: Christ mean?
Anointed One.
Why is the Son of God called the Anointed One?
Because God the Father anointed Him with the Holy Spirit, i.e. communicated to His human nature all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Have anyone else been called anointed besides the Son of God?
Before Jesus Christ, the Jewish people called kings, high priests (bishops) and prophets anointed. These three positions were united to the highest degree by Jesus Christ. He is the King, the High Priest and the Prophet.
Why is the Son of God called the only begotten?
Because He is the only Son of God, born from the being of God the Father. And pious people in the Holy Scriptures (John 1:12) are sometimes called sons of God; but they are called so by the special mercy of God, and not by their nature.
When was the Son of God born of God the Father?
Before all the ages, otherwise: He is also eternal, like God the Father.

The fact that He came down from heaven to earth, became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became a perfect man, except for sin, without ceasing at the same time to be God.
Under what circumstances was the Son of God born on earth?
The Roman Emperor Augustus, under whose rule the Jewish people were then, ordered a national census to be taken, and for this, each Jew had to go to his own hometown. Bethlehem was the hometown for the Virgin Mary and Her betrothed Joseph. Here, partly due to their poverty, partly due to the confluence of many people, they could not find a comfortable shelter for themselves. They stopped to spend the night in a cave where shepherds drove their flocks in inclement weather. Our Lord Jesus Christ was born in this cave.
How does the Orthodox Church teach about the virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary?
She teaches that the Virgin Mary remained and continues to be a Virgin before, during, and after the birth of Jesus Christ. In a word, She is Ever-Virgin (always a virgin).

What were the most severe sufferings of Jesus Christ?
They beat Him a lot, cursed Him, mocked Him, and a crown of thorns was placed on His head. But His most severe suffering was on the cross. The execution on the cross was one of the most terrible, cruel and shameful executions of that time. She was a symbol of all human evil and the most striking manifestation of the power of the devil. Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross between two thieves, and in this shameful and terrible form He died.
Who buried Jesus Christ and where?
One rich and pious man, named Joseph of Arimathea, buried Him in his garden, in a new cave, which was carved out of a stone mountain; At the request of the Jewish leaders, a seal was attached to the tomb and a guard of soldiers was assigned so that no one could steal the body of Jesus.
Why did He suffer and die?
Himself sinless and innocent, He suffered and died for us in order to save us from sins and place us in the Kingdom of Heaven.
How could Jesus Christ suffer and die when He is God?
He suffered and died by human nature, and not by Divine nature. The deity can never suffer or die.
How do we express faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ's suffering on the cross?
Because during prayers and on other occasions we make the sign of the cross, or, more simply, we cross ourselves.
How is the fifth article of the Creed read?
And he rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures.
What does this term say?
About the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
How was He resurrected?
On the third day after the death of Jesus Christ (i.e. on Sunday), very early in the morning, the earth shook violently. An angel of the Lord appeared near the cave where the body of Jesus lay, rolled away the stone from the entrance to it and sat on it. Jesus Christ rose from the cave in all Divine majesty and glory. The soldiers guarding the coffin fell from fear as if they were dead; and then, coming to their senses, they ran to the Jewish leaders and told them about what had happened. Bribed by them, the soldiers began to spread a false rumor that the disciples stole the body of Christ while they were sleeping.
Has anyone risen from the dead except Jesus Christ?
They rebelled. In the Old Testament, for example, it is told how the prophet Elijah resurrected the son of the widow of Sarepta. Jesus Christ himself raised the dead more than once: he raised from the dead, for example, Lazarus, who had been lying in the tomb for four days. But the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead not because he was resurrected by anyone, like others, but by His Divine power He rose from the dead.
Why was the word added to the Creed: according to Scripture?
To mean that the Lord Jesus Christ died and rose again exactly as it was written about by the prophets, who for several hundred years predicted the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (the suffering of Jesus Christ is spoken of in Isaiah in the 53rd chapter of the Holy Bible; about His resurrection in David in Ps. 15:10 and in Acts 13:37), and the three-day stay of the prophet Jonah in the belly of a whale was a type Jesus Christ's three-day stay in the tomb.

Then two angels appeared to them and said that Jesus, who had ascended into heaven, would come in the same way as they had seen Him ascend into heaven. The apostles worshiped the Lord and returned to Jerusalem.

Will He judge all people?
All people, both living and dead, who will all be resurrected by that time.
How will He judge?
Memory will then reveal to every person all sins; Then, not only deeds, but also all the secret thoughts and desires of each person will be revealed by themselves before angels and people.
Will Jesus Christ come soon to judge people?
This is unknown not only to people, but also to angels. Only God knows; therefore, we need to always be attentive to ourselves in order to always be ready to stand before the terrible judgment of God (Matt. 25:13).
What great misfortune will happen for Christians before the second coming of Jesus Christ to earth?
The Antichrist (the enemy of Christ) will appear on earth, or a person who will try to do only evil to Christians all his life on earth, because the devil will move into him; but for that he himself will die in a terrible way.
What kind of kingdom is meant in the words of the Creed: His Kingdom will have no end?

Because He gives life to all creatures, especially spiritual life, i.e. virtuous life for people.
What do the words of the Creed show: Who proceeds from the Father?

Because during it all the most important events from the earthly life of Jesus Christ are remembered.
What events, for example, are remembered during mass?
During the small entrance, when there is a procession from the altar with the gospel, we remember the procession of Jesus Christ to preach; during the great entrance with the Holy Gifts, when they sing on the choir: Like the cherubim, we remember the procession of Jesus Christ to free suffering and death to cleanse us from sins; during the consecration of the Holy Gifts and the communion of the priest and deacon in the altar, we remember the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the apostles; during the appearance of the Holy Gifts to the people, when the deacon says: Come with the fear of God and faith, we remember the appearance of the risen Jesus Christ to the disciples; The last appearance of the Holy Gifts to the people, when with the words of the priest: Always, now and ever, and unto ages of ages, they are transferred from the throne to the altar, reminds us of the ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven.

What's the difference between them?
The deacon helps the priest teach the people and perform the sacraments; and one without a priest cannot perform the sacraments. The priest teaches the people and performs the sacraments; The bishop not only teaches the people and performs the sacraments, but also has the power to ordain others through ordination to perform them (the sacraments), i.e. to consecrate to the degree of priesthood.
Do other ranks of the priesthood, for example, patriarchs, metropolitans, archbishops, and archpriests constitute special degrees of the priesthood?
These ranks do not constitute special degrees of the priesthood, but belong to any of the three designated degrees. So, for example, patriarchs, metropolitans, archbishops are essentially the same as bishops; archimandrites and archpriests are essentially the same priests; Protodeacons are the same as deacons. The lower church ranks: psalm-reader, sexton, sexton, etc., do not constitute any degree of priesthood.

The third commandment of God:
Do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
If you don’t take it, don’t take it, don’t use it. In vain - in vain.
With this commandment, God forbids using the name of God when it should not, for example, in jokes, in empty conversations. The same commandment prohibits:
blasphemy against God (the Jews blasphemed the Lord, saying that He casts out demons by the power of Beelzebub - the prince of demons: Matt. 12:24);
murmuring against Him (the Jews repeatedly grumbled against God during their wanderings through the Arabian desert: Numbers 2:4-6);
lying under oath;
blasphemy (Belshazzar, the last king of Babylon, feasting with his nobles, drank wine from the sacred vessels of the Temple of Solomon, stolen by Nebuchadnezzar; for this blasphemy he was killed that same night, and other nations took possession of his kingdom);
to worship unnecessarily, and especially in untruth, which constitutes a grave sin before God.

What else is commanded by the fourth commandment?
It is commanded to observe fasts.
What fasts are established by the Orthodox Church?
1) Great Lent, or Holy Pentecost, during which we usually fast, confess and receive communion. This fast was established in imitation of the forty-day fast of the Lord Jesus Christ in the desert and was established in order for us to worthily celebrate the feast of the Resurrection of Christ. (Begins every year seven weeks (weeks) before Easter and consists of 40 days and Holy Week.)
2) Fasting before the Feast of the Nativity of Christ, or the Nativity Fast, otherwise Filippov. (Starts on November 15 - after the day of the Apostle Philip - and lasts 40 days until December 25, i.e. until the Feast of the Nativity of Christ.)
3) Dormition Fast before the Feast of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary (from August 1st to August 15th), otherwise known as Gospozhinka.
4) Petrov fast, or Petrovka. (It always begins a week after Trinity Day and continues until June 29, until the day of the apostles Peter and Paul, and therefore the duration of this fast depends on the time of Easter.)
There are also one-day fasts, or fast days, namely:
1) Exaltation of the Honest and Life-Giving Cross (Sept. 14).
2) Beheading of John the Baptist (Aug. 29).
3) Epiphany Christmas Eve (January 5).

On Wednesday - in memory of the betrayal of Jesus Christ to suffer, and on Friday in memory of His suffering and death.

The one who spends weekdays in idleness, who spends Sundays and holidays in a non-Christian manner, and who does not observe fasts.
The fifth commandment of God:
Honor your father and your mother, may it be good for you, and may you live long on earth
Honor - honor. Yes - so that. Good is good. Ti - for you. Long-lived is someone who lives for many years.
With this commandment God commands us to honor our parents.
What does it mean to honor your parents?
It means obeying them, helping them in their labors and needs, taking care of them during their illness and old age, and praying for the salvation of their souls.
How was disrespect towards parents once punished?
Noah's son Ham laughed at his father sleeping naked in his vineyard; His other sons, Shem and Japheth, covered his naked body with clothes. Noah, waking up, learned about such a disrespectful act of Ham, cursed him and prophetically said that his descendants would be slaves of the descendants of his brothers.
Besides parents, who else is commanded to honor the fifth commandment?
Those who in any case replace our parents, such as: the Sovereign of our Fatherland, spiritual shepherds, rulers, all benefactors in general and those older in age.
Which of them especially needs to be revered?
Sovereign, because He is the father of an entire people and the anointed one of God. Fear God, honor the king (1 Pet. 2:17), says the Apostle Peter. The Lord Himself said: Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's (Matt. 22:21), i.e. what belongs to Caesar or the king, then give it to him: whatever duties you owe to the Sovereign, fulfill them.
What are the duties of a subject to the Sovereign?
One must obey His commands, pray for Him, obey the authorities appointed by Him, pay taxes honestly, willingly go into military service at His command to defend the faith and the fatherland, and willingly perform other duties.
What can we say about those who do not fulfill their duties to the Sovereign?
They are guilty not only before the Sovereign, but also before God, because he who resists authority, as the Word of God says, resists God’s command... there is no authority except from God (Rom. 13:1-2).
The sixth commandment of God:
Thou shalt not kill
Don't kill - don't kill.
What does God prohibit with this commandment?
Prohibits killing, i.e. take a person's life.
Is it a sin to punish a criminal with death by law and to kill the enemy in war?
Not a sin. The criminal is deprived of his life to stop the great evil he is doing; the enemy is killed in war, because in war they fight for the Sovereign and the Fatherland.
What other sins are prohibited by this commandment?
It is prohibited to facilitate murder in any way, for example, by order, advice, assistance; Everything that disturbs and shortens the life of one’s neighbor is also prohibited, for example, anger, hatred, quarrels.
The same commandment prohibits temptation when someone, by example or advice, inclines another to unbelief or some kind of sin, which is called spiritual murder.
What is commanded by the sixth commandment?
It is commanded to protect the life of your neighbor and always do good to him.
The seventh commandment of God:
Do not commit adultery
Do not commit adultery - do not commit adultery.
This commandment prohibits adultery, or criminal carnal love between a man and a woman. The same commandment also prohibits everything that leads to this sin, for example, excess in food, drunkenness, shameless songs, reading bad books, and the like.
What should you do to avoid breaking this commandment?
Those living in marriage need to be faithful to each other, and others should lead a chaste life.
The eighth commandment of God:
Don't steal
This commandment prohibits theft, i.e. take someone else's property in any illegal way. For example, one who steals, robs, or withholds a worker’s wages sins against this commandment; who receives payment for work, but does not work; whoever takes someone else's property by deceit or cunning, for example, gives away bad goods instead of good ones, does not add to what was sold through the wrong weight or measure. (Gehazi, the servant of the prophet Elisha, deceived in the name of this prophet, begged some money and clothes from the Syrian military leader Naaman; for this offense he was struck by the leprosy that had previously plagued Naaman.)
What should one be like in order not to sin against the eighth commandment?
You need to be hardworking, selfless, merciful, truthful.
The ninth commandment of God:
Do not listen to your friend’s false testimony.
If you don’t listen, don’t testify, don’t make it heard, don’t speak. On your friend - on another person. Evidence is a denunciation.
This commandment prohibits false testimony and all lies in general. For example, those who testify falsely in court sin against this commandment; who falsely complain about another (false witnesses said about Jesus that He wanted to destroy the church of God and build it in three days (Matthew 26:60-62). He was accused by the Jews of allegedly seeking royal power and forbidding paying tribute to Caesar (Luke 23:2)); who speak hurtful words about their neighbor to their neighbor’s face and behind their back; who mock and condemn.
What should we think about false testimony under oath?
This is a great sin against both the ninth and third commandments of God.
What is needed in order not to sin against the ninth commandment of God?
You must always speak the truth and keep your tongue from speaking evil (1 Pet. 3:10).
The tenth commandment of God:
Thou shalt not covet thy sincere wife, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, nor his village, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor any of his livestock, nor any your neighbor
Sincere – close to the heart, beloved. The village is a field. Ox is a bull. Elika – what.
This commandment prohibits not only doing bad things to your neighbor, but also wishing bad things for him.
The sin against this commandment is called envy.
What duties therefore are prescribed for us by this commandment?
We should be content and grateful with what God has given us and be kind to our neighbors.

Vedeti - to know.
This troparion says that the birth of the Savior was a spiritual light for people, because the eastern sages recognized Him by the wonderful star that appeared at the birth of the Savior.
Who are the servants of the stars?
Eastern sages who guessed the fate of a person by the movements of the stars and who, when a special star appeared in the sky, learned about the birth of the Savior.
Who is this Vostok from above?
This is our Savior Jesus Christ, enlightening us with faith from heavenly heights, just as the rising sun in the east spreads daylight across the earth and revives it.

Christ God, who appeared into the world, glory to You.

(Holiday February 2)
Rejoice, Blessed Virgin Mary, / from You has risen the Sun of righteousness, Christ our God, / to enlighten those who are in darkness. / Rejoice also, O elder righteous one, / received into the arms of the Liberator of our souls, // who gives us resurrection.
In Russian
Rejoice, blessed Virgin Mary, for from You has risen the Sun of Truth - Christ our God, enlightening those in darkness. Rejoice also, O righteous elder, who has accepted into the arms of the Savior of our souls, who gives us resurrection.
Accepted - accepted.
In this troparion we extend greetings to the Most Holy Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Christ God, our Enlightener; We also extend greetings to the righteous elder Simeon, who was honored to receive Him in his arms.
Who is this creature in the darkness?
These are pagans who, before the coming of the Savior to earth, did not know the true God, lived lawlessly and were thus, as it were, in darkness.
(Holiday March 25)
The day of our salvation is the main thing, / and from time immemorial the mystery has been revealed, / the Son of God, the Son of the Virgin, comes, / and Gabriel preaches the good news, / and we also cry out to the Mother of God with him: / Rejoice, O blessed one, // The Lord is with you.
In Russian
Now is the beginning of our salvation and the revelation of a mystery that has existed for centuries. The Son of God becomes the Son of the Virgin, and Gabriel preaches the good news. Therefore, we too will exclaim to the Mother of God: Rejoice. O blessed one, the Lord is with you.
The main thing is the beginning, the foundation.
What is this troparion about?
That through the gospel of Gabriel the mystery of our salvation was revealed; because the birth of the Son of God, our Savior, from the Virgin Mary is preached, and we are called here to turn to her with the Archangel’s greeting.
What do the words mean: the sacrament has appeared since the ages?
The Lord, before the creation of the world, before all ages, knew that man would sin, and before all ages he ordained to save him through His Only Begotten Son: this mystery of salvation, destined from the ages, was clearly revealed to people in the Archangel Gospel.
(Holiday one week before Easter)
The general resurrection / before Your passion was assured, / You raised Lazarus from the dead, O Christ God. / Likewise, we, like the children of victory who bear the sign, / We cry out to You, the Conqueror of death: / Hosanna in the highest, // Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
In Russian
Having affirmed the general resurrection before Your suffering, You raised Lazarus from the dead, Christ God. Therefore, we, like (Jewish) children wearing signs of victory, exclaim to You, the Conqueror of death: salvation from heaven, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.
Passion is suffering. Like youths - like youths. Hosanna in the highest is salvation from heaven.
This troparion says that by raising Lazarus our Savior assured us of the general resurrection. And we are called to greet Him as the Conqueror of death.
Who is Lazarus, resurrected by the Savior?
He was a pious man who lived near Jerusalem (in Bethany) with his two sisters, Martha and Mary. The Lord loved this pious family and often stayed with them. Shortly before the Savior's suffering, Lazarus fell ill and died. Lazarus had already been lying in the grave for four days, and the Lord raised him up.
What do the words: signs of victory mean?
These are the branches with which the Jews usually greeted the victors.
(Easter occurs between March 22 and April 25, and is celebrated on the nearest Sunday after the spring full moon)
Christ rose from the dead, trampling down death and giving life to those in the tombs
In Russian
Christ rose from the dead, striking death with His death and giving life to those in the tombs.
Corrected - striking. The belly is life.
This troparion is about the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead and during His death on the cross raised many from the dead.
What needs to be said about the holiday of the bright Resurrection of Christ?
That it is the greatest holiday for us, that it is a triumph of triumphs and a holiday of holidays; why Easter is not counted among the twelve holidays.
(Holiday 40 days after Easter)
Thou hast ascended in glory, O Christ our God, / having brought joy to the disciple / by the promise of the Holy Spirit, / by the former blessing communicated to them, // for Thou art the Son of God, the Savior of the world.
In Russian
Christ our God! You ascended in glory, filling Your disciples with joy through the promise of the Holy Spirit, and with Your blessing assured them that You are the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world.
A promise is a promise.
What is this troparion about?
That Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, delighted His disciples with the promise of the Holy Spirit and with His blessing assured them of His Divinity and the salvation of the world.
What do the words mean: the disciple created joy through the promise of the Holy Spirit?
The disciples of Jesus Christ must have felt grief from separation from the Lord ascending into heaven. But the Lord, promising to send them the Comforter of the Holy Spirit, thereby comforted them.
(Holiday 50 days after Easter)

Yavlei – the one who has revealed. Catch - caught.
This troparion says that Jesus Christ sent down the Holy Spirit to the apostles and through them attracted the whole world to Himself.
Why are the apostles called fishers?
Because they, like fishermen with a net, caught people with their preaching and led them to the true faith.
(Holiday August 6)

Christ God, You were transfigured on the mountain, showing Your disciples Your glory as far as they could (see it). Through the prayers of the Mother of God, may Your eternal light shine upon us sinners. Giver of light, glory to Thee.
Transformed - took on a different appearance, changed. Like a mozhahu - as best they could. Everlasting - eternal.
What is this troparion about?
The fact that Jesus Christ was transfigured on the mountain, and thereby showed His glory to His disciples. And we ask that through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Divine light will enlighten us too.
(Holiday August 15)
At Christmas you preserved your virginity, / in the Dormition you did not abandon the world, O Mother of God: / you reposed to the belly, Mother of the Being of the Belly, // and through your prayers you delivered from the death of the soul ours.
In Russian
Mother of God! You preserved your virginity at birth, You did not leave the world after your dormition; You have passed on to eternal life, being the Mother of Life (our Lord Jesus Christ), and with Your prayers you deliver our souls from death.
Dormition - peaceful death. Resignation is movement; the death of a Christian as a transition from the temporary to the eternal. The belly is life.
This troparion proclaims that the Most Holy Virgin Mary is close to us even after Her repose into heaven. Staying in heaven, She, as the Mother of God, with Her prayers before God delivers our souls from death.
