Hospodine je mého pastýře a neměj mi chybět nic.

Believers, therefore I cried: I also have been made lowly. I also said in my humiliation: Every man is a lie. What shall I render to the Lord for all this? For I will render my sacrifices to the Lord; and in His name I will call: My prayers for thee, O Lord, before all men. The death of the venerables before the Lord is meet. O Lord, I thy servant, I thy servant, and son of thy handmaid: Thou hast rent asunder mine inwards. To Thee, therefore, I offer sacrifice of praise, and in His name I will call: My prayers for thee, O Lord, before all men; in the courts of thy house, before thee, priests.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Father, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Glory to Thee, Alleluia, glory to Thee, glory to Thee, O Lord. [Three times.] And bowings three.

The Lord despiseth my lawlessness, having been born twice, and doth cleanse my heart, making this temple through the precious Body and Blood of Thee: beneath Thy face, O Lord, I implore Thee with countless prayers.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

Partaking of thy holy mysteries, O worthy I dare not as unworthy; For if I dare to approach thee with those that are worthy, the Lord doth reproach me, because there is no evening, and judgment and condemnation goeth forth from my many-sinned soul. Purify the foulness of my soul, and save me, for thou art a lover of mankind.

And now and for ever. Amen.

Many of my manifold infirmities, O Theotokos, have exceeded me; I have fled to Thee, beseeching Thy mercy: visit my feeble soul and pray for me that Thou and God our Father may grant me remission, since I have endured much, alone blessed.

In the holy and great forty days:

When the glorious disciples were enlightened on the eve of the Lord's Supper, then Judas, filled with covetousness, was overcome by unrighteous judgment and became a judge of the righteous Judge. Behold, O faithful ruler, for this sake didst thou suffer great need! Thou hast fled, unsatisfied soul, to thy Teacher, daring one: and among all the blessed, O Lord, glory be to Thee.

Irmos: Upon the stones of faith I have been made firm, and Thou hast enlarged my lips against my enemies. For my spirit rejoiceth, when I say: There is none like unto God our King, neither is there any who can be compared with Thee, O Lord.

Heal my soul, O Lord, by the name of Thy Holy Name: and all my flesh: that I may be worthy to partake of Thy divine mysteries at the precious and holy Supper, O Preserver.

Mercifully grant me, O Lady, the creature from thy compunction, and keep me blameless and unblemished, that I may receive the pure wheat, being cleansed.

As thou didst foretell, O Lord, that evil would come to thy servant and abide within me: for thou hast promised, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except the grain of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone; but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit."

Words of the Lord and of the Lord, O Soul of Mine, may my body be darkened in Thy enlightenment, and may the blood of Thy Christ cleanse the defiled soul of mine.

Yirmós: In the bottomless abyss of sins whirling, I invoke the unsearchable mercy of Thee, O Void: from the flames of Thy fire, raise me up.

O Soul and heart, and spirit of mine, and body, be thou strengthened, and let thee be worthy to approach unsparingly the Master to the fearful mysteries.

That I might be delivered from passions, and to have the Thy mercy present, and life also strengthened by partaking of the holy mysteries of Thee.

Lord God, do not despise me, Thee Thy body and Thy precious blood, poured out for us, and the fearful mysteries of Thy great sacraments: that I may not be judged, but may receive life eternal and immortal.

And mayst Thou deliver us from passions, and enemies, and necessities, and all sorrows, with trembling and love, with gladness, O lover of mankind, now drawing nigh to Thy immortal and life-giving mysteries, and worthy to sing thee: Blessed art Thou, O God, Father of ours.

Christ is He, taste and see: the Lord hath mercy on us, for He, being ancient of days, in His own Person alone brought Himself, that by this offering He might ever purify those partaking thereof.

Soul and body may be sanctified, enlightened, saved, becoming a dwelling of Thee through partaking of the divine mysteries, abiding in Thee with the Father and the Holy Spirit, O Giver of every blessing.

It is meet and right, O Lord, to bless Thee, most holy Theotokos, ever-virgin, and to praise Thee, Mother of God our Saviour. More glorious than cherubim, and more radiant than seraphim, thou who hast borne in thy womb the uncreated Word of God, we magnify thee with hymns.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
As we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.

Yet seven days, the troparion of the Resurrection.

Mercy Thee, Lord, mercy Thee; for all of us without understanding, by this our prayer we bring to Thy Master, O sinful ones: mercy Thee, Lord.

Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.

O Lord, have mercy on us, for in Thee we trust: let not Thine anger burn against us, nor remember our sins from of old; but look upon us now with a heart of compassion and deliver us from our enemies: Thou art God our King, and we Thy people, all our works are by Thy hand, and to Thee do we cry.

And now and for ever. Amen.

Mercy openeth the doors of salvation to us, O Blessed Theotokos: trusting in thee let us not perish, but be delivered by thee from calamities: for thou art the Saviour of the race of Christians.

Master, O Lord Jesus Christ, our Life and Source of immortality, Helper of all visible and invisible creatures, co-eternal with the Father, present in His power and without beginning, for many years having suffered in the flesh, being crucified, buried, and shedding Thy precious blood to renew our nature corrupted by sin: Thou, O Immortal King, receive my sinful confession, incline Thine ear unto me, and hear my words: I have sinned, O Lord, both against Thee and before Thee, and am not worthy to behold the height of Thy glory. I have offended Thy goodness, having transgressed Thy commandments and disobeyed Thy commands. But Thou, O Merciful One, long-suffering and full of compassion, didst not deliver me over to destruction with my iniquities, but hast waited for my repentance. For Thou spakest, the Lover of mankind: "For I desire not the death of a sinner, but that he should turn and live." For Thou wouldest not destroy Thy creature made by Thine own hand, nor didst Thou will the destruction of human dignity, but hast willed all to be saved, in truth and righteousness. Therefore, though unworthy of earth and heaven, and this my temporal life, having sinned against Thee with all my being, having enslaved myself through pleasure, and defiled Thy image: yet as Thine creation and creature, I do not despair of my salvation, trusting in Thy boundless mercy to come unto Thee. Receive me, O Lover of mankind, as a harlot, as a robber, as a tax collector, and as a sinner, bearing my heavy burden of sins, the sin of this world, and healing the weakness of human nature, working and bearing with those who call upon Thee to rest in Thee. Not having come to call the righteous, but sinners for repentance: cleanse me from all uncleanness of body and spirit, and teach me to fulfill Thy passion: that I may receive the part of Thy Passion with a pure conscience, uniting my body and blood with Thine Body and Blood, and have Thee living and abiding in me, with Thy Father and Spirit. O Lord Jesus Christ, our Life, do not let me partake of the precious and life-giving mysteries of Thy sacraments through weakness of soul and body, unworthy to receive them: but grant that even until my last breath I may receive a portion of Thy Passion, in common fellowship, as an inheritance of eternal life, and in the blessed light on Thy fearful judgment. For with all those whom Thou hast prepared for Thee, O Lover of mankind, I shall be among the uncorrupted, praised by Thee forever. Amen.

O Lord my God, I know, indeed, that I am not worthy and insufficient to enter into the sanctuary of my soul today, for it is wholly empty and desolate; and there is no place in me worthy enough to receive Thy head: but as Thou didst humble Thyself from on high for our sakes, so also now humiliate Thine own self with me. And even as Thou wast received into the manger and heard the voiceless cries of the beasts: thus also receive into the voiceless cries of my soul, and into my defiled body.

And even as Thou didst not find it fitting to enter in, but to spend the evening with sinners in the house of Simon the leper: so also didst Thou will to enter into the house of my humbled soul, which is leprous and sinful. And even as Thou didst not anoint a like sinner and sinful woman who came and touched Thee: thus also have I been anointed by Thee for my sinfulness, coming and touching Thee.

And even as Thou didst not cleanse the foul and unclean lips of those who healed Thee: but Thou dost now cleanse my foul and unclean lips and my foul and unclean hands, and the most foul and unclean tongue of mine. But let me be a coal from Thy altar, and the scent of Thy blood in consecration, illumination, health, and the healing of my humbled soul and body, in alleviation of many of my sins, in keeping from all evil work of the devil, in quenching and forbidding my sinful and crafty habit, in the death of passions, in the supply of Thy commandments, in the application of Thy divine grace, and in the appropriation of Thy kingdom.

For Thou dost not despise the coming to Thee of Thy people, but daringly relying on Thine ineffable goodness: and let me not be separated from Thy communion by much thoughtfulness of a wolf-like mind. Therefore I beseech Thee: as One alone is holy, preserve my soul and body, heart and bowels, and all of me; root fear of Thee in my hands, and the consecration of Thee unshakable within me: be Thou my helper and intercessor, feeding me with life today, worthy to stand before Thee with Thy saints: by Thy prayers and supplications, by Thy ineffable servants and mighty powers, and all Thy saints, from age to age. Amen.

O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable love to man, Thou didst receive into Thyself our mixed and twofold nature, more than natural, by Thine own divine will and the will of Thy Holy Spirit, that by Thy heavenly presence and good pleasure, Thou mightest bear in Thee, preserve, and grant us peace, life, and strength. By Thy reception of the life-giving and saving sufferings, Thou didst conquer the nails, the spear, death, and my soul’s mortal sufferings of the body. By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou didst bury the captive kingdom of hell; by Thy holy thoughts, Thou didst bury my evil counsels and crafty spirits. By Thy three-day life-giving resurrection, Thou didst raise up the fallen first man; Thou didst raise me who had fallen through sin, offering to me an image of repentance. By Thy glorious ascension, Thou didst sanctify the reception, and by Thy divine throne, Thou didst deign to grant me to partake of Thy holy mysteries with a pure heart. By the coming of Thy Comforter, Thou didst make vessels worthy, showing me Thy coming. May I again be judged in the whole world by Thy righteousness, O Lord, meet Thee on the clouds as Judge and Creator of mine, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever, and to the ages of ages, praise Thee with Thy unending Father and throne, and glory in Thy eternal home. Amen.

O Master, Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given us power over sin to forgive: For thou art good and lover of mankind, and dost despise my every sin whether known or unknown: And vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of thy divine, glorious, precious, life-giving mysteries: Not by weight, nor by suffering, nor by the addition of sins, but by cleansing, and anointing, and putting on, for the enjoyment of the future life and kingdom: In the wall and help, and in the repulse of adversaries, in the destruction of many of my transgressions. For thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind: To thee we send glory, with thine all-holy, glorious and life-creating Church, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O Virgin most pure:

We know, O Lord, that unworthy we are to partake of Thy precious Body and Blood; and we confess, and judge ourselves, and drink, not reasoning about the Body and Blood of Thy Christ: but daring on Thy liberality, we come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which is in me. Have mercy on us, O Lord, and do not condemn me, the sinful one; but work with me according to Thy will: and let it be for my healing, cleansing, enlightenment, preservation, salvation, and the glorification of soul and body: in all fervent longing, and in evil deeds, and in the works of the devil, in my thoughts. In boldness and love, whereunto I am called, to correction of life, and strengthening, in return of virtue and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in common prayer, in guidance of life eternal, in the light blessedly pleasing on Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Blessed are the contrite in heart, from the loathsome of heart, from the unclean tongue, from the soul defiled; receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not my words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. Moreover, teach me what is fitting for me to do and say. I have sinned more than the harlot; she, having entered where thou abidest, bought ointment with her tears and came boldly to anoint thy feet, O my God, Master and Theotokos. As she did not hide herself from thee when coming with boldness, but saying: “Give me to kiss thy feet, and hold them, and kiss them, and wipe them with my tears, as a precious ointment.” Wipe away my tears with thine eyes, cleanse me with them, saying: “Cease from thy transgressions, and let prayer be offered to thee;” weigh my sins, weigh my labors, and see: but also weigh my faith, weigh my will, hear my sighs. Hide not from me, O my God, Creator, Deliverer, a single tear. For thou seest the unrighteousness of my eyes in thy books, and yet more unrighteousness is written thereunto. Behold my humility, behold my labor, and forgive all my sins, both mine own and those of all men; that I may receive with clean heart, with attentive thought, and with humbled soul the pure and holy mysteries, by which every man and woman may be quickened and sanctified. For thou hast said, O Master: “Every member of my flesh and blood, in this body of mine abideth, in whom also I am.” Truly, word of God, thou art light and Theotokos: for partaking of thy mysteries and worshipping with blessings, I am not alone, but with thee, O Theotokos, by the threefold light, enlightening the world. That I may abide not alone, but together with thee, O Saviour, breath of my life, life of mine, joy of mine, comforter of the world. For this cause I have come to thee, as thou seest, with tears and a humbled soul, that thou mayest take away from me my transgressions, and partake of thy unspotted and pure mysteries unsullied. That I may abide, as thou hast said, triply: that no one may find me, the seducer, to entice me by deceit, and deceive those who worship thy words. For this cause I now come to thee, knowing well, as another, not to sin against thee, nor to do anything evil; but again we know, for neither the greatness of transgressions nor the multitude of sins exceeds much the long-suffering and extreme love of God towards us: but with warm compassion thou cleansest, enlightenest, and maketh light for partakers, making them work together without envy in thy mysteries. And strange as it is to angels and human thought, thou speakest many times with them, as with thy true friends. This boldness worketh in me, this putteth me forth, Theotokos. And by thy rich blessings, rejoicing together and trembling, partaking of the fire, grass green, and strange wonder, being watered not with fire, as a cup of ancient wine burning. Now with thankful heart, with thankful soul, with thankful hymns, my spirit and body, I bow down, glorify, and praise thee, O my God, for thou art blessed now and forever.

Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:

O Lord, strengthen me, support me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, will or unwillingly, by reason or unreason, all of them. For Thou art good and lover of mankind: and through the prayers of Thy holy servants and mighty powers, and all Thy holy ones from ages past, without condemnation according to Thy good pleasure receive my steadfast and precious body, and pure blood, for the healing of my soul and body, and for the cleansing of my evil thoughts. For Thou art the light, and strength, and glory, with a firm and strong house, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages.

Amen.

Not well-pleased am I, O Master God, to enter into the fold of my soul: but since thou, O Lover of mankind, wouldest live in me, daringly I approach: Thou hast commanded, that the doors, which thou alone didst create, be cast down, and entered with thy love: entering, thou enlightenest my darkened thoughts. I believe this to have been done by thee: not as one who came weeping to thee, as a harlot thou didst not hurl forth, nor as a sinner didst thou cast down those who repented, nor as one who knew the robber didst thou cast him out; but from thy forgiveness coming, thou hast set all before thee in thy face, alone blessed always, now and for ever. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, my God, strengthen me, sustain me, cleanse me and forgive me my sins, whether of youth or of old age, whether in understanding or in lack thereof, whether in words or deeds, whether in thoughts or intentions, and all my feelings. And by thy seedless prayers born, thou who art preeminent and pure among the virgins of thy house, one blameless hope and intercessor for me, grant that I may partake unworthily of those preeminent, immortal, life-giving, fearful mysteries, in remission of sins and into eternal life: in fulfillment, enlightenment, strength, healing, health of soul and body, and in the consumption and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, intentions, and night-time imaginings, those dark and deceitful spirits: for thou art the King, and power, and glory, and worship, with thy merciful and holy hand, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Mercy, O holy John Damascus:

Before the doors of thy temple, O Lord, I stand, and do not depart from evil thoughts: but thou, O God, didst save the righteous tax collector, and had mercy on the Canaanite woman, and didst overturn the doors for the robber, overturning mine petitions with thy merciful hands, and receiving me as one who cometh to thee, even as a sinner, and one who bleedeth: I kiss thy holy feet, and receive from them healing pleasure: and I hold thy precious nose, and obtain release from my sins. For thou art blessed for ever and ever. Amen.

I believe, Lord, and confess, for Thou art truly the Son of God, living and coming into the world sinners to save me, the first among many. And I also believe that this is Thy most precious body, and this is Thy own precious blood. Praying unto Thee: Have mercy on me, and forgive my transgressions, both voluntary and involuntary, for by word, for deed, for knowledge and ignorance, and grant me to partake unworthily of Thy most holy mysteries, in remission of sins, and into eternal life. Amen.

Come then and partake, they said within themselves with the following metaphrastic stichos:

Ivse pristúpaý kъ bogostvěnnoĭ pričašhenií.

Sodětelju, da ne ŭpališi mь prívobčen'iem':

For we are indeed unworthy to receive this gift.

But cleanse me from all wickedness.

Everest are thy mysteries of today, O Lord, for the sake of the Con-celebrant I come: not because I will reveal them to my enemies, nor give them over to thieves, but as a bandit do I confess: remember me, whereunto in Thy Kingdom.

O Man, beholding the Blood of God Who doth Praise, dost marvel:

For fire is a thing unworthy of falling into the hands of the unrighteous.

Blessed be the Body and Blood of Thee, and sanctifieth me; and feedeth me:

The Spirit praiseth, and with it doth feed the stranger.

Sweetened Thou hast me with the love of Jesus, and changed me with Thy divine affection: but I fell into the fire of spiritual sin, and Thou wilt satisfy thereby to enjoy delight, that I may glorify Thee more highly, appearing nigh unto Thy presence.

In the light of thy holy light, as in a place unworthy; yet I dare to come into the throne, where my vestment accuses me, for it is not bridal, and loosed and cast out from among the angels: cleanse me, O Lord, the foulness of my soul, and save me, for thou art a lover of mankind.

Master of mankind-lover, God Jesus Christ, where Thou art with the Theotokos, let not my sins be judged against me, for I am unworthy to stand before Thee: but in compunction and confession of soul and body, and in the putting on of the future life and glory. To Me, however, whatever is attached by God's mercy is good, to lay hold of hope of salvation.

And again: Thy mysteries today, O Lord, are made manifest to Thy servants; for the sake of Thy cross Thou hast been crucified, and hast given the world light by Thy side, O Christ God: receive me into the number of Thy elect: for I will not reveal Thy mystery unto Thine enemy, nor give Thee a kiss like Judas, but as a robber I confess Thee: remember me, Lord, in Thy Kingdom.
