The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
The earth is the Lord's, and all its fullness; the world, and they that dwell therein.
Believers, therefore I cried: I also have been humbled. I also said in my affliction: All man is vanity. What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits? I will take the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the Lord: I will render my prayers before the Lord for all men. The reading before the Lord is the death of the venerable ones. O Lord, I am Thy servant, I am Thy servant, and son of Thy handmaid: Thou hast torn in pieces my members. To Thee also will I offer sacrifice of praise, and call upon the name of the Lord: I will render my prayers before the Lord for all men, in the courts of His house, among His priests, in the midst of Thee, O Comforter.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Father, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Glory to Thee, Alleluia, glory to Thee, glory to Thee, O Lord. [Three times.] And bowings three.
The Lord hath despised my iniquities, having been born twice, and hath purified my heart, making this temple with Thy precious Body and Blood: beneath Thine eyes I have wept for Thee, countless tears of prayer.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
Partaking of Thy holy mysteries, I dare so unworthy; For if I dare to approach Thee with worthy ones, I am reproached, for there is no evening, and the judgment and departure out of this many-sinned soul of mine bringeth forth much tribulation. Purify the stain of my soul, and save me, for Thou art a lover of mankind.
And now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Many of my multitudes, O Theotokos, have sinned beyond measure; I have fled to Thee, beseeching Thy salvation: visit my feeble soul and pray to Thy Son and our God to grant me remission, for I have committed the most bitter, yet alone blessed.
In the holy and great forty days:

When the glorious Apostles were enlightened on the eve of the Lord's Supper, then Judas, filled with covetousness and unwell from greed, was darkened by avarice; and, being given over to unjust judgment as a just judge, he became a spectacle for all. Behold, O Ruler of hearts, how great a need has seized him! Fleeing the unsatiated souls, Teacher, Thou hast boldly ventured forth: and unto Thee be glory from all the holy.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness; according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Yirmos: Gather ye people, take up the song of the Lord, which divided the sea, and instructed the people, that brought them forth out of Egyptian bondage, that they might be glorified.
Refrain: O Soul of purest essence, fashion a clean heart within me, and renew the right spirit in my womb.
Let the bread of life, which quickeneth unto eternal life, be my flesh, O holy Lord, and Thy precious blood, and healing of manifold infirmities.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, O Lord, and let Thy mercy depart from me not.
Sacrilegiously defiling the unplaced offering, thou who hast offered up Thy precious Body and blood, I who am unworthy to partake, stand before Thee, having received: whereunto I have been deemed fit.
Refrain: Having ascended into heaven, save us, O Theotokos.
Earth blessed, blessed by God's holy word, class profaned by ungodly and saving world, vouchsafe to me this day to be saved.
Yirmos: Upon the stones of faith I have been made firm, and Thou hast enlarged my lips against my enemies. For joy hath my soul arisen, when I say: There is none like unto our God, and there is no counsel purer than Thine, O Lord.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, cleanse it with the Heart of God, and renew the Spirit within my womb.
Let Thy holy tears fall upon my sinful heart, cleansing it: that I may be cleansed with a good conscience, coming in faith and fear of the Master to partake of thy divine gifts.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, and let Thy mercy depart not from me.
In the confession of my sinfulness, O Lover of mankind, let me be found more sinful than Thy holy and precious blood, that thereby I may partake in general communion, and in life eternal, being separated from passions and sorrows.
Refrain: Having ascended into heaven, save us, O Theotokos.
The table of life-giving bread is laid out for us by the Lord, above receiving it with prayer, and giving to us a new life of the world, and now I, unworthy as I am, have come to partake with fear, that I may live.
Yirmos: Thou hast come from above, not by prayer nor by an angel, but Thyself hast been incarnate and hast spoken to me all my days. Therefore call thee: glory be to thy power above.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, cleanse it with the Heart of God, and renew the Spirit within my womb.
Hath it pleased Thee, O Lord, for our sakes to be incarnate in multitude of wonders, to be crucified that we might be taught, for the sake of men's sins: therefore I beseech Thee and my soul cleanse our transgressions.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, O Lord, and let Thy mercy depart not from me.
Heal my soul, O Lord, according to thy name, and of all my sins: and grant me, that I may partake of the mysteries of thy divine Supper, being sealed.
Refrain: Having ascended into heaven, save us, O Theotokos.
Have mercy on me, O Lady from the depths of Thy sanctuary, Mistress, and keep me blameless and unblemished, that I may receive the precious grain, being justified.
Yirmos: O Giver of Light and Creator of ages, in the light of Thy commandments guide us: for lo, we know but one God.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, make my heart pure, and renew my spirit within me at dawn.
As thou hast foretold, O Lord, that evil would come to Thy servant and abide within me: for verily, O Lord, my body is spiritual, and I drink thy blood.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, and let Thy mercy depart not from me.
Words of the Lord and of the Lord, O Soul of mine, may my body be darkened in Thy enlightenment, and may the cleansing of my defiled soul by Thy blood bring me to holiness.
Refrain: Having lifted up Thee, O Theotokos, save us.
O holy and blessed Theotokos, vessel of the Church's joy, by thy prayers make me, Thy chosen vessel, a fit recipient, that I may partake of Thee.
Yirmos: In the abyss of sins descending, I invoke the unsearchable mercy of Thee, O depth: from the flame of Thy wrath lift me up.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, make My heart pure, and renew My Spirit within my womb.
O Soul and heart, and spirit of mine, and body, be strengthened; and let me be worthy to approach Thy awful mysteries with unworthiness.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from thy face, O Lord, and let not thy圣灵, who is my hope.
That I might be delivered from passions, and to have the manifestation of Thy mercy, and the firmness of life through partaking of the holy mysteries of Thine.
Refrain: Having lifted up the Theotokos, save us.
Blessed be the Word of God, most holy and pure, now coming to Thy divine mysteries by Thy supplications, O Holy Mother of God.
Bread of the Lord, take not in disdain, Thee, Thy body, and this Thy blood, precious shed for us by Thy Master, partake of the consecrated: that I may not be judged, but have life eternal and immortal within me.
Yirmos: The golden children did not serve the wise body, and they themselves went into the flame, and their gods abandoned them, crying midst the flames, and an angel appeared: Harkening ye have already heard your prayers.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, make My heart pure, and renew My spirit within me at dawn.
O Fount of blessings, Communicator, O Ever-living One, Thy present mysteries,
Let us be for Thee light, life, and impassionlessness,
And to the repose and increase of virtues most fervently intercede,
Most closely drawing near, as I glorify Thee.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, and let Thy mercy, O Lord, be ever with me.
Delivered from passions, enemies, needs, and all sorrows, with fear and love, with joy, O Lover of Mankind, now approach to Thy immortal and life-giving mysteries, and be worthy to sing thee: Blessed art thou, O Lord our God.
Refrain: Having lifted up Thy holy hands, save us.
Spása Khristà rod́ŝaennie páče ŭmà, bogoblógodaťnaennie, moljú te nyně rab́ tvoí, četŭju nečístyie: khotě́šchevo mjà nyně kŭ prečétymĭ tájnам pristupíti, ŭočísti vsegdò otskvérny plóti i dúха.
Yirmos: Into the fiery furnace, with the three Hebrew youths who descended into it, and the flame which was laid upon the roes of God, sing the works of the Lord, and exalt them for ever and ever.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, cleanse it with the Heart of God, and renew the Spirit within my womb.
O heavenly and fearful and holy Thy mysteries, O Jesus Christ, now a mystery, and Thy divine and secret evenings, to partake thereof Thou hast deigned to make me worthy, O Saviour mine.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, and let Thy mercy depart not from me.
To Thee, O Most Merciful Mother, we flee in haste, calling upon Thee with fear: In me abide, save me, as I have cried out to Thee: For I dare to trust in Thy mercy, for Thou art my Body and I drink Thy Blood.
Refrain: The throne of our God hath ceased, glory to Thee.
Quaking I receive the fire, that I may not be consumed as wax and as grass. Lo, the fearful mystery! Lo, the good pleasure of God! As the body and blood of the Body are partaken of tremblingly, so am I made imperishable.
Yirmos: Without beginning, the Father of our God and Lord, having taken on flesh from the Virgin, enlightened that which was darkened, gathering together what had been scattered: therefore we with all sing to Theotokos in great reverence.
Refrain: O Soul of Mine, cleanse it with the Heart of God, and renew the Spirit within my womb.
Christ is He, taste and see: the Lord hath mercy on us; for He, being ancient of days, in His own person brought Himself, that by the offering thereof He might ever sanctify those partaking thereof.
Refrain: Do not cast me off from Thy face, O Lord, and let Thy mercy depart from me not.
With my soul and body may I be found worthy, O Master, to be enlightened, to be saved, to become Thy dwelling place through partaking of the sacred Mysteries, abiding in Thee with the Father and the Holy Spirit, O Most Gracious.
Refrain: Receive in me the joy of thy salvation, and let my house be established by thee.
As fire is to my soul, and light to thy body, and precious blood shed for me: quenching the sinful substance, burning the passions with thorns, and enlightening all of me, I shall bow down before Thy divinity.
Refrain: Having ascended into heaven, Christ save us.
God hath been incarnate from thy holy blood, therefore every creature singeth thee, O Lady, and the multitude glorifieth thee, for with thee did we behold Him manifest in His humanity, having become man by assumption of a human body.
It is meet and right indeed to bless Thee, O Most Pure Theotokos, ever-virgin, and to magnify Thee, O Mother of God. More honorable than the cherubim, and more glorious beyond compare than the seraphim, without corruption Thou gavest birth to God the Word, the Only-begotten of the Father, true God from true God, very God from very God. Therefore with Angels and Archangels and all the hosts of heaven, we that believe in Thee, ever magnify Thee and hymn Thy glory, saying without ceasing: Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Sabaoth, to Thee be glory, might, and honor, both now and forever. Amen.
O Holy God, O Strong God, O Immortal God, have mercy upon us. [Three times.]
Glory to Thee, O God, and to Thy Christ, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Grant us forgiveness, O Lord: forgive our sins, Thee. Master, pardon our lawlessness: Holy One, visit and heal the sick among us, for Thy Name's sake.
Lord, have mercy. [Three times.]
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit, both now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
A Treasury of the Feast. Still the week, the troparion of the Resurrection of the Lord.
Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: for though we be ever foolish, with this our prayer we offer ourselves to Thee as sinners; have mercy on us.
Glory to Thee, and to Thy Son, and to Thy Holy Spirit.
Lord, have mercy on us, for in thee we trust: let not thine anger be kindled against us, nor remember our sins of old; but look upon us now with a heart of compassion and deliver us from our enemies: thou art God our King, and we thy people, all our works being by thy hand, and to thee do we cry.
And now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Mercy openeth the doors of salvation to us, O Blessed Theotokos: trusting in thee, let us not perish, but be delivered by thee from calamities: for thou art the Saviour of the race of Christians.
Lord, have mercy. [Thou] And bowings, as thou wilt.
And now we stand before Thee, O Lord.
O man, desire the living Spirit, Lady.
Approach with fear, that ye fall not: for fire is it.
Blessed be the precious Blood to the communion,
First reconcile thee with them that grieve thee.
Therefore daring to draw forth the holy baptismal font again.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Before partaking of dreadful sacrifices,
Life-giving Wellspring of our Lady,
Thus let us pray with fear and trembling.
Mercy, O Virgin most pure:
Master, O Lord Jesus Christ, our Life and Source of immortality, Helper of all visible and invisible creatures, co-eternal with the Father, present in His uncreated Power, both beginningless and endless, for many days having taken flesh, being crucified, buried, and rising again for us sinners and ungrateful ones, by Thy precious Blood renewing our nature corrupted by sin: Thou, O Ever-living King, receive my sinful confession, incline Thine ear to me, and hear my words: I have sinned, O Lord, having sinned both before Thee and in Thy sight, and am not worthy to look upon the height of Thy glory. I have offended Thy goodness by transgressing Thy commandments and disobeying Thy will.
But Thou, O Merciful One, long-suffering and full of compassion, didst not deliver me over to destruction with my unrighteousness, but hast willed all to be saved, in truth and righteousness. Therefore, even I, though unworthy of earth and this temporal life, having confessed my sins, enslaved by the sweetness, defiling Thy image: yet as created and made by Thee, I do not despair of my salvation, relying on Thy boundless mercy. Receive me, O Lover of mankind, as a sinner, as a harlot, as a tax collector, and as a sinner, bearing my heavy burden of sins, the sin of this world, and healing the weakness of human nature, striving and burdened, calling and comforting, not to call the righteous but the sinners for repentance: cleanse me from all uncleanness of body and spirit, and teach me to fulfill Thy commandments in Thy passion: that with the part of Thy Body and Blood I may receive Thee living and abiding within me, with Thy Father and Spirit as my home. Thou, O Lord Jesus Christ, do not allow me to partake of the precious and life-giving mysteries of Thy will, lest I be weak both in body and soul, unworthy to receive them: but grant that even until the end of my days, I may worthily receive a portion of Thy Body, in common fellowship, as an instruction for eternal life, and in the blessed light at Thy fearful judgment: that with all those Thou hast chosen, I may be among the uncorrupted, which Thou didst prepare for them that love Thee, wherefore Thou art glorified forever. Amen.
Mercy, O holy John the Golden-mouthed:
O Lord my God, I know that I am not worthy and insufficient to enter into the sanctuary of my soul today, for it is wholly empty and desolate; and there is no place in me worthy enough for Thee to bow Thy head: but as Thou didst humble Thyself from on high for our sakes, so now humiliate Thine own self with my humility. And even as Thou wast received into the manger and heard the voiceless cries of the beasts: thus receive also the voiceless cries of my soul, and enter into my defiled body.
And even as Thou didst not find it fitting to enter in, but to spend the evening with sinners in the house of Simon the leper: so also didst Thou will to enter into the house of my humble soul, which is leprous and sinful. And even as Thou didst not anoint a like sinner and sinful woman who came and touched Thee: thus also have I been anointed by Thee with my sinfulness, coming and touching Thee.
And even as Thou didst not cleanse the foul and unclean lips of those who healed Thee: so now let my foul and unclean lips and thoughts be cleansed and purified. But may I become a coal from Thy altar, and the scent of Thy blood, in cleansing, illumination, health of my humble soul and body, in alleviation of many of my sins, in keeping from all evil works of the devil, in quenching and forbidding my sinful and deceitful habits, in the mortification of passions, in supplying Thy commandments, in applying Thy divine gifts, and in receiving the consecration of Thee. For though Thou dost despise the coming to Thee, yet because of Thine ineffable goodness I dare to approach Thee: and may not often withdrawing from Thy communion, I be snared by the thoughts of a wolf.
Therefore I pray Thee: as One alone holy, sanctify my soul and body, heart and bowels, and all of me; root in me fear of Thee in my hands and feet, and let Thine illumination remain unshaken within me. And be Thou my helper and intercessor, feeding me with the life of Thy world, worthy to stand before Thee with Thy saints: through Thy prayers and those of Thy undefiled servants and mighty powers, and all Thy saints, from age to age. Amen.

O One Immortal and Unchanging Lord, for Thy ineffable love of man, Thou hast received into Thyself our every mixture from the blood and spirit, more than nature begot Thee, by Thine own Divine Presence, by Thy heavenly Hosts, Thou keepest us in Thy divine presence, peace, and power. By Thy reception, O Life-giving and Saviour suffering, Thou hast conquered death, O my soul’s life-giving sufferings of the body. By Thy burial, O Lord, Thou hast buried the kingdom of death, by Thy holy thoughts Thou hast cast out the counsels and craftiness of deceitful thoughts and spirits. By Thy three-day and life-giving resurrection, Thou hast raised up the fallen father, raising me also who have fallen through sin, presenting to me an image of repentance. By Thy glorious ascension, Thou hast sanctified the reception, and by Thy divine throne Thou hast granted me to partake of Thy holy mysteries with a pure heart. By the coming of Thy Comforter, Thou hast made vessels worthy, showing me Thy coming. May I again be judged in the whole world by Thy righteousness, O Lord, meet Thee on the clouds as Judge and Creator of mine, with all Thy saints: that I may now and ever praise Thee, with Thy unbeginning Father and Your glorious, life-giving home, now and forever. Amen.

Master Jesus Christ, our God, who hast given power to man to sin: Forasmuch as Thou art good and lover of mankind, despise my every transgression in knowledge and not in ignorance; and vouchsafe me to partake unworthily of Thy divine, glorious, precious, and life-giving mysteries: not by burden, nor by suffering, nor by the addition of sins, but by cleansing, consecration, and anointing for the enjoyment of eternal life and kingdom. In the wall and help, in the defense against the opposing, in the extirpation of many of my transgressions. For Thou art God, full of mercy and lover of mankind: to Thee we send glory, with Thy Father and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Mercy, O Virgin most pure:
We know, O Lord, because we are unworthy to partake of Thy precious Body and Thy precious Blood; we confess ourselves guilty and judge ourselves, drinking without reasoning about the Body and Blood of Thy Christ: but trusting in Thy bounty, we come to Thee, saying: Give my flesh, and drink my blood, which is within me. Therefore, O Lord, do not condemn me, a sinner, but work with me according to Thy mercy: that I may be made holy by Thee, cleansed, enlightened, preserved, saved, both in soul and body; in the burning of all vain thoughts, in the wicked deeds, and in the works of the devil, in my thoughts. In boldness and love towards Thee, for correction of life, and establishment, in return to virtues and perfection: in the fulfillment of Thy commandments, in the gift of holiness, in guidance of eternal life, in the light blessedly acceptable on Thy fearful judgment: not into judgment or condemnation.

Alas for the foul sins, from the filthy heart, from the unclean tongue, from the soul’s defilement, receive my prayer, O Theotokos, and despise not mine words, neither my forms, nor my ignorance. Give me boldness to speak, as thou wilt, O Theotokos. More than that, teach me what is fitting for me to do and say. I have sinned more than a harlot; yet she was led into the house where Thou didst anoint Thy feet with ointment, O my Lord, Master, and Theotokos. As she did not shrink from touching Thine feet with her lips, nor clinging thereto, nor kissing them, but with many tears, as with precious ointment, she anointed them boldly. Wipe away mine tears with thine eyes, cleanse me by them: “Leave off my transgressions and grant me repentance.” Weigh my sins, weigh my labors; and see the multitude of my iniquities: but also see my faith, and my will, and my sighs. Hide not from Thee, O my Creator, my Redeemer, a single tear. For Thou seest all that is done within Thy eyes: and yet more, it is written in Thy book. See my humility, see the toil of mine hands, and forgive me all my sins, both those of the body and soul. Truly, Thou hast said, O Master: “Every member of my flesh and blood, in this very body of mine, abides; in Him I am.” Verily, the Word is true concerning Thee, O Lord: for by partaking of Thy Body and Blood and worshipping Thee with blessings, I am not alone, but with Thee, O Theotokos, a threefold light enlightening the world. Truly, no one shall find me apart from Thy grace, nor shall any stranger or deceitful one lead away those who worship Thee by Thy words. For this reason, I now come to Thee in tears and with a contrite heart, that Thou mayest take away my sins and partake of Thy unspotted mysteries, not defiled. Let me abide with Thee, as Thou hast said, triply: that no one shall find me apart from Thy grace, but the deceitful one shall not deceive those who worship Thee by Thy words. For this reason, I now come to Thee in fervent prayer: as Thou didst receive the sinner and the harlot, so receive me, the sinner and the foul, with great generosity. With a contrite heart, for I now come to Thee, knowing that even as another, I have not sinned against Thee, nor committed any sin today; but again we know that neither the greatness of sins nor their multitude can surpass Thy many long-suffering and extreme love for man: but with warm compassion Thou dost cleanse, enlighten, and create those who partake of Thy mysteries without envy. And Thou dost converse with them often as with Thy true friends, even as Thou dost with others. This boldness doth work in me, this doth pierce me, O Theotokos. By Thy rich blessings, rejoicing together and trembling, we partake of the fire, a strange wonder, being watered not by fire, as if a cup of ancient oil were burning. Now with thankful heart, with thankful soul, with thankful hymns, with my body and spirit, I bow down before Thee, and glorify Thee, O my God, for Thou art blessed now and forever.
Mercy, O John the Golden-Throated:
O God, strengthen me, sustain me, forgive my transgressions, if I have sinned, whether by word, deed, thought, will or unwillingly, by reason or unreason, all of them thou forgive, for thou art good and lover of mankind: and with thy prayers, O Lord, intercede for me through the holy and mighty servants of thine, and all the saints from ages past, who have found favor in thy sight, not judging me according to thy good will to receive me worthy and pleasing in thy sight, and to cleanse my soul and body. For thou art the Church, and strength, and glory, with thy ever steadfast and mighty house, now and forever, and for ever and ever. Amen.
Not satisfied, O Lord, that I enter into the shelter of my soul: but since thou wilt, as a lover of mankind, to abide in me, I dare to approach thee: thou hast commanded, and thou hast cast down the doors, which thou thyself didst create, and entered with thy lovingkindness. I believe this thou hast done: for neither by weeping penitent, like the harlot, didst thou drive her away, nor by rejecting those who were praying, as the Pharisee, didst thou cast them down, nor by recognizing the robber didst thou burn him; but from thy forgiveness coming, thou hast set all thy friends in thy face, one alone blessed always, now and for ever. Amen.
O Lord Jesus Christ, my King, strengthen me, sustain me, cleanse me and forgive me my sins, whether they be of willful disobedience, or of ignorance, whether in words or deeds, whether in thoughts or imaginations, and all the feelings of my heart. And by thy seedless prayers, O most pure Mother of God, intercede for me with thine unblamable hope and advocacy, that I may partake unworthily of thy precious, life-giving, fearful mysteries: in remission of sins and into eternal life; in fulfillment, enlightenment, strength, healing, and health of soul and body, and in the consumption and complete destruction of my evil thoughts, imaginings, and purposes, and dark and wicked spirits. For thou art the King, power, glory, honor, and worship, with thy merciful and holy hand, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Mercy, O holy John Damascus:
Before the doors of thy temple, O Lord, I stand, and do not depart from evil thoughts: but thou, O God, didst save the righteous tax-gatherer, and hadst mercy on the harlot, and didst overturn the doors for the robber, and overturn to me the doors of thy merciful love, and receive me coming unto thee, as a sinner, and one bleeding: I kiss thy holy feet, and in them find sweet healing. And with my hands I hold thy precious nostrils, and obtain release from sins. For thou art blessed for evermore. Amen.
I believe, Lord, and confess, for Thou art truly the Son of God, living and coming into the world sinners to save me, the first among many. And I also believe that this is Thy most precious body, and this is Thy own precious blood. I pray Thee therefore: forgive me, and blot out my transgressions, voluntary and involuntary, both by word, both by deed, both by knowledge and by ignorance, and grant me to partake unworthily of Thy most holy mysteries, in remission of sins, and into eternal life. Amen.
Come then and partake, they said within themselves with the following metaphrastic stichos:
I approach the divine communion with all my heart.
Cooperator, let not thy cooperation fail me through common prayer:
For we are unworthy servants entering in.
But cleanse me from all uncleanness.
Evening are Thy mysteries today, O God, for the sake of the Thee-blessed one I receive: not because I will reveal to Thy enemies, nor give iniquity to them, but as a traitor and confessing myself: remember me, whereunto in Thy Kingdom.
O Man, beholding the Blood of God Who doth Praise, dost marvel:
For fire is a thing unmeet to enter.
The Body of the Lord and Thee doth sanctify and feed.
The Spirit prayeth, and He feedeth us strangely.
Thou hast sweetened me with the love of Christ, and changed me by Thy divine will: but I have fallen into the fire of spiritual sin, and Thou wilt fill me with the enjoyment thereof, that I may glorify Thee more greatly, appearing nigh unto Thy presence.
In the light of thy holy light, as in a place unworthy; yet I dare to come into thy presence, where my vestment defiles me, for it is not bridal, and bound and cast out am I by the angels: cleanse thou me, O Lord, the foulness of my soul, and save me, for thou art a lover of mankind.
Master of mankind-lover, God Jesus Christ, Thou who art my Life, do not let me be judged by the Judge today for that wherein I am unworthy to stand: but in the cleansing and anointing of soul and body, and in the putting on of the future life and glory. To me it is good that God's mercy be laid up with Thee.
And again: Thy mysteries today, O Lord, are made manifest to Thy servants; for the sake of Thy cross Thou hast been crucified, Thou hast given the world to drink Thy precious Blood, and hast taken away its guilt. Therefore, with Thy Theotokos and all Thy saints, we glorify Thee, O Lord, who hast taken away our infirmity and hast healed us by Thy side, for evermore. Amen.
But again: Thy divine mysteries today are revealed to Thy servants, O Lord; because of Thy cross Thou hast been crucified, giving the world to drink of Thy precious Blood and taking away its guilt. Therefore, with Thy Theotokos and all Thy saints, we glorify Thee, O Lord, who hast taken away our infirmity and healed us by Thy side today.
And again: The mysteries of evening, O Lord, are revealed to me today; for the sake of Thine own, Thou hast received me into Thy mystery. Not as an enemy, O Lord, have I revealed Thy secret nor given a kiss like Judas, but as one who has confessed with a robber, I confess Thee: remember me, Lord, in Thy Kingdom.
Amen.
