Irmos: Ruler of the heavens, bow down to receive / the commandment made by an angel / on behalf of the venerable youth; / the Chaldeans having fallen into a trance / with the commandment of God / proclaiming the torture: / Blessed be Thou, O Theotokos, our Mother.

O Soul of mine, do not trust in perishable riches, and in unjust gathering; for all these thou hast not weighed with any one, but cry out: Have mercy on me, O Theotokos, unworthy as I am.

Do not trust, O Soul of mine, in bodily health and in fleeting beauty: for thou seest how the strong and young die; but cry out: Have mercy on me, O Theotokos, unworthy as I am.

O Soul of mine, remember the eternal life, O heavenly Theotokos, made ready by the Holy One, and the darkness without end, and the wrath of God, and cry: Have mercy on me, O Lady, of unworthy one.

O Soul of mine, incline to the holy Mother, and pray for me, for she is a speedy helper of those who repent, beseeching Jesus Christ on my behalf, and hath mercy on me, unworthy.
